  1. I have a 7' M Shimano Expride spinning rod on the way to me. Now I am looking for a reel to pair it with. I am a Shimano guy and am trying to decide on which reel to go with. A buddy bought 2 of the Ci4+ reels from Bass Pro when they were on sale and would sell me one so that is one way to go. I am also considering the Stradic FL but I cannot seem to find one locally to handle. I am not too worried about it because it gets terrific reviews and I am familiar with the Stradic line. My question goes more to the difference in reel weight and how it would pair on this particular rod. It sounds like the FL is actually a nicer reel but that the Ci4+ is noticeably lighter. I guess I am looking for opinions here, especially those who own this rod and have an idea if a lighter or bit heavier reel would pair better.
  2. I had a question about putting line on a spinning reel in a manner to avoid line twist. I know you are supposed to have it come off the spool from the underside, correct? Either way I have something else I will need to do. Long story very short (details do not matter) I've got the exact yardage of line I want to put on the reel laid out in a straight line in my large backyard. Can I just tie it on the reel, hold it with some resistance a bit ahead of the when put on a rod and just reel it up? I have done that kind of thing with a BC reel but I was wondering if that exact same process will work well with a spinning reel or some other process/tips to avoid line twist?
  3. BP has this on a pretty good sale coming up for Father's Day so I am thinking about picking on of these up. They are selling the scale and the gripper as a combo. Because the scale is normally sold separately I assume it is not "calibrated" to account for the weight of the gripper. Is there a way to set the scale to account for the weight of the gripper or you just have to subtract it mentally each time?
  4. Not available in stores near me, would need to be ordered online so not an option.
  5. Man, that is what I would agree with. I just don't understand (and while I admit I have not tried it) what seems to be a craze of guys throwing spinnerbaits or chatterbaits on a glass or composite rod. I certainly could see it for treble hook baits, though. Just not big single hook baits.
  6. I was asking about the KVD rod
  7. I have heard some people say the handle length on these rods is kind of on the short side, making it hard to really lay into it and let loose on a mile long cast. Do you think the handle length feels short on them and sort of can affect your ability to make super long casts?
  8. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Mustad_Wacky_O-Ring_Replacement_Pack_25pk/descpage-MWO.html I am looking at picking up a pack of these to wacky rig a dinger, a trick worm or a 5" GYCB senko with but I have no idea which size to go with? Looks like they come in a 7mm or 10mm size but I have no idea how that translates to these specific stick baits. Which size should I go with?
  9. Shows my ignorance, I did not realize there was an option regarding gear ratios and spinning reels, like there are with baitcasters. What is a good "standard" gear ratio for a spinning reel?
  10. Is this issue on "all" the Fuego LT spinning reels or just the 2500 size?
  11. When you guys talk about "adding a washer" what are you talking about? I do not follow, can anyone explain?
  12. Where have you seen one for that price?
  13. I am in the market for a spinning reel, $100 is roughly my price range. Going to use it for bass fishing primarily. With it I will probably throw a wacky rig worm, light t-rigs, possibly a small jerk bait or fluke and other normal lighter bass presentations. Probably will throw 15 pound braid on it as well. Anyone got a spinning reel they like matching these parameters? I was checking out the Daiwa Fuego LT spinning reel. Anyone have a specific opinion on it? TIA
  14. Now THAT makes sense is probably the answer here
  15. Yeah, Hackney's fluoro jig is one of the things making me ask if certain designs lent themselves more to certain types of lines of was that all just BS marketing stuff LOL
  16. I am new to jig fishing and for mine I turned to Mike Siebert. He got me started with a pretty universal jig of his Grid Iron Arky Jig and I have posted a picture here. If I remember right it is a 60 degree, is that correct? I was just curious if the advantages or disadvantages of the different styles and if there are some that are better in grass, wood, etc...
  17. Yes. Eye location/syle compared to hook point and all that. I have heard some say it depends on what type of line you are using too.
  18. I've read a lot on here about the style and location of the line type on a jig. I have tried to visualizing what all this means but not with a lot of success. I have also read about it depends on what type of line you are using. Can anyone point me to some illustrations or more clear info?
  19. I thought I remembered someone complaining about how thin and difficult the "bail wire" was to open and close? Anything to that? Other differences to consider?
  20. I may be in the market for a Shimano spinning reel. What are the differences between the Stradic FL vs the FK? Looked around here and online and it was not super clear to me. Thanks
  21. While I am sue you are correct do you have a link? I do not see these anywhere on their site.
  22. Now I am trying to decide if I got a Super Spook or the Jr size which hooks I would want to use as replacements. I have several KVD short shank triple grips around so I would probably go with those. #2's on the Super Spook and #4's on the Jr?
