  1. I don't use superglue on my uni to uni, what's it do for you?
  2. Yep, that's about right!
  3. Strike King Caffiene Shad has done well for me when they want it fast. Keitech Shad Impact when they want a more subtle presentation.
  4. It won't end until the deck of the boat is just one giant, glorious screen. Then you'll need drones to deploy remote transducers all over the lake, a personal satellite to coordinate the data streams and an AI to tell you location, presentation, and to automatically cue dubstep bass drops during your hooksets And you'll still lose to an older guy with a Hook 4, fishing a homemade black and blue jig with the last remaining Uncle Josh's pork trailers.
  5. That's ok, when I started pitching jigs for the first time, one came flying back at me like a bullet, time slowed down, and I reached out and caught it. That was a fair amount of blood and shame.
  6. So really what you are saying is that your next custom rod will have a magnetic hook keeper. Lol. Wait... why isn't that a thing already?.
  7. So are the dividers flexible or are they hard plastic?
  8. I don't know Jack about components, I'm just here to see what amazing things people come up with if they didn't have to see the receipt.
  9. Never hired a taxidermist, is it an option to have a mount redone?
  10. Well those look great, wish I knew what was on them!
  11. I thought you had to hold them straight with the tail fanned out. Turns out you can collapse the tail!
  12. I lose more on spinnerbaits than I do frogs. Toads however... 10% strike to hookup to land is a great day for me.
  13. Hmm... drive to Tennessee from Michigan to magnet fish for a custom rod... or just sit on my couch and buy an Expride on TW.... decision decisions...
  14. Right? This just got interesting. Maybe he'll get two!
  15. Assuming you had fancy guides on there means the reel is probably the only part that's ferrous anyway. Good luck!!
  16. Well, you theoretically don't have to buy a new rod sock, so spend that money on one of these: https://www.harborfreight.com/retrieving-magnet-150-lb-pull-36904.html?cid=paid_google|||36904&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=&utm_content=&gclid=CjwKCAiAvonyBRB7EiwAadauqV44-DIlqWe9Aa5DwtkhrOwe2R1yDKFnk40ZUvffVSOfcFzTgOk3LBoCvFoQAvD_BwE
  17. Stop snickering! Ok, so hypothetically you have a sizable budget to build a "perfect" new custom rod. What would you build, with what components, and why?
  18. Muttering to oneself is underrated.
  19. Splice in heavier wire for the last few feet?
  20. That's about where I am with frogs. I love them, more so than other lures, and have really really practiced with them. I don't have to think about the hookset, I just let my muscle memory do it for me, then it's up to my brain to figure out how to get them back to the boat. Based on empirical evidence, I don't think most people can be good at frogs and toads, it's one or the other...
  21. Musky are so beautiful. My solution is just to accept the loss as the cost of doing business. I don't cry (just fantasize about getting an electric truck) over the extra gas I burn in my truck driving to lakes that are far away from me. But if it gets excessive, I go up in leader strength or just throw less expensive baits.
  22. I used straight braid for years and caught a lot of fish. Now I use FC leaders on my braid and I catch more fish. I have some basic evidence in that if I am catching fish with a leader and my leader gets destroyed, I catch fewer fish when I get lazy and don't put a new leader on. My catches go back up when I get frustrated and put a leader back on. My waters are also generally clear and super pressured. It could also be a confidence thing.
  23. I only started keeping track of my PBs a few years ago; released all of four of them after pictures. Skin mounts are expensive and the bait monkey would team up with my boat to beat me down for wasting money like that.
