  1. Good advice, I'll have to get into researching ultra premium guides next. The KR Concept style is actually what brought me to want to build rods, I thought it was so fascinating from a line physics point of view.
  2. Was the noise present before the cleaning? Or has it appeared since the cleaning?
  3. Too rich for my blood...
  4. Ok, just checking. You always have to ask. You should be fine connecting it to the trolling motor's transducer, especially for just 2D. You might have to play with the input settings in your unit, but it should work. That will at least tell you whether it's the transducer or the unit.
  5. Well, if there was only one that was best, everyone would just use that. Regional differences are fascinating to me, too. I like it. I mostly flip tubes, Texas rig them, or rig them stupid style. Corkie stick like a bobber or a dog treat? I Googled that and I wasn't sure what I was looking at.
  6. Yeah, you do learn more from defeat. It was a real wake up call when I started fishing tournaments and would come to weigh in and be the only one with an empty bag. That meant it was me, not the lake, fish, or conditions that caused the zero. Really motivated me to get better. Now I almost always have at least one fish. ? #Progress
  7. Been drinking Ballast Point's Victory At Sea lately and loving it. Also, Bell's Hopslam is out right now and this year's batch is PHENOMENAL.
  8. Yes, I hand tie my own jigs and just started tying bucktails and preachers. I have a vise, bobbin, and some marabou. I tried to tie something like in the video a couple times but I didn't like them. Does that look like it's one feather wrapped around or several?
  9. Has anyone successfully used inline singles on swimbaits? Truthfully, I don't care much for trebles. Oh, that makes me want it more!
  10. Phishl said to make adjustments for trebles because the rod was too stiff and you said it was ideal. That didn't seem to align by my reading. I was really curious why you differed.
  11. Well, I'm goin for the 795 and if I start losing fish on trebles or singles, at least I know my technique is working and I can get a second rod to compensate.
  12. I can't imagine I will exceed 2.5 oz. I'm mainly planniing to throw oversized plastics and 1-2 oz hard bodies.
  13. Well you two have conflicting opinions. I'm in the market for a 795 to throw trebles and single hooks. Please continue to debate. Why do you say what you say? Or is Dobyns' quality control all over the place? Lolz
  14. Anyone have any instructions or a link to a tutorial for how to make what is shown in the video below at 17min 13sec? Or if some place sells them, I will just buy some. The guy in the video talks about how they are going to be available for purchase but I contacted him and he said it was a bust.
  15. Don't feel bad, Gitzits never got me a nibble either. If you want to go cheap off the shelf, the Berkely Havoc tubes do well.
  16. Right on, just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting myself into a noodle rod that can huck 5oz baits. Lolz
  17. I feel your pain, it is hard to keep current with tackle makers' current business status. Unfortunately, most small bait/lure makers don't tend to be very technically advanced when it comes to a Web presence. Some current sites just have me yelling at my screen that "It's not 1995 anymore, come on! I don't want to call you to place an order, I just want to load up a Web cart and have my tackle show up at my door later that week. WHY DON'T YOU WANT MY MONEY!?".... ahem One thing you can do is use the Wayback Machine which archives the Internet, so you could go look at those Web site as they were six months ago, a year, etc. Sometimes the BBB will list a business as closed and if you can get an address, contact the local Chamber of Commerce to see if they are still active in the area.
  18. Ok, the only reason I asked is because I am going to be around a lot of cover that I need to get the fish away from. And I'm also using some big 9/0-11/0 Beast Hooks on some big plastics. Thanks!
  19. You probably already did these but troubleshooting is troubleshooting... Did you check every inch of all of your unit's wires to make sure you don't have any exposed, kinked, crushed, or otherwise damaged sections? Checked all terminals for both corrosions and secure fit? Is the wire wrapped around anything else that would be putting out a localized magnetic field, like pump, electrical junction, or motor? Do you have any obvious damage to the transducer itself? Gouges, chips, or foreign objects? Is your unit set to a frequency that the transducer cant handle? Is your transducer getting enough power?
  20. That was my original plan, but I read and watch way more guys using and talking about the 806. Since you use the 795, does it have plenty of backbone? Or is it like a heavy weight crankbaits rod where it kind of just keeps giving?
  21. TW's Classic sale starts the morning of March 6th. If this sale is like the Christmas sale, there will be a handful of smokin' deals which will sell out nearly instantly and the rest is just ok. It is kind of funny to see what's still left on the last day, junk they could not get rid of even with a significant discount.
  22. Welcome! I am also an ex-lurker.
