How much does the lure have to be worth before you'll go swimming?
I've waded in up to my waste before for a snagged crankbait in the summer. If the water is under about 65 or is any deeper than I just mentioned...well then I will order a new one from tackle warehouse. I'm not gonna swim down, get hooked on a snag and drown myself. I don't give a crap how pricey the bait is.

What is your cut off point/price on rods and reels?
I've got bass combos as cheap as $67. My most expensive is around $350 but I only paid $80.

Coping with the crowds this year
My experience has been similar. I fish a small local lake..what I would consider my home lake...all the time. Used to be weekends would be decently busy but weekdays there would usually be nobody. This year's weekends are almost pointless and weekdays there is usually people in the majority of the good spots and 10 to 20 people splashing around on the swim beach. It has forced me to find new areas and new ways to fish them.

An Unfortunate Series of Events

Dinks - what tackle?
Small popper and also a small weightless worm like a zoom swamp crawler or 4 inch Senko type bait on a spinning rod.

Popper rods
Yes it's one of the old ones I believe. I bought it used at least 10 or 12 years ago. I throw poppers on that rod with 10lb big game and it handles it well. Maybe I don't need a new rod...sounds like I've already got a good one.

Pop R mods
What modifications do you make to a rebel pop r besides hook upgrades to make it fish better? I know there are better quality baits like the iovino splash it, yellow magic and Rico. The money is not an issue but I just like to tinker and thought I'd experiment on a bait I already have.

Popper rods
What rod do you guys use for 1/4oz poppers? What power and action do you prefer? Right now I'm throwing mine on an old all star 6ft6 medium fast but I'm wondering if a more moderate action would be better

How many casts to one target?
I fish a small lake close to me all the time that gets fished a lot especially in summer camping season. I know the lake very well so I know there are prime pieces of cover that always hold fish but they aren't always quick to bite. Because of this I've been known to really milk a spot. Case in point a few weeks ago I fished by a small beaver dam that holds em. Caught a few dinks right away then it shut off. Pitched into it another twenty minutes and got a 3lber out of there. Probably 40 casts between bites.

Any hidden online gems can you recommend?
I've found good deals on there over the years and I guess that's why I like them. They also offer some things you don't see everywhere. For the majority of my bass stuff I use Tackle Warehouse, siebert outdoors and skirts unlimited. But I do shop fishusa for ice fishing and panfishing gear.

Drop shot or carolina rig for catfish?
I've tried multiple ways and rigs over my years of catfishing. After lots of fancy methods and failed outings I've decided on two different rigs for overfishing in lakes. First is what your calling a Carolina rig but I don't use a swivel I use an egg sinker pinch a split shot on the line and tie the hook on a foot below it. My other way is a bobber rig usually 2 or 3 feet deep with a couple split shot a foot up from the hook. Lots of bait options for cats. In spring I like crawlers the best but in summer you get pestered by everything else so much that worms aren't the best choice. Also there is an extensive line of summer baits..livers from various critters, crawfish tails, stink bait, hot dogs, bacon, shrimp, jello marinated chicken breasts and too many others to count. In my experience nothing catches more cats consistently than fresh cutbait of native to your waters baitfish. Around me top producers are shad, green sunfish and goldeneye which is an oily herring type fish. That said I concur with a lot of the things said above. I've caught a lot of cats over the years on things like twister tail grubs and even spinnerbaits. They aren't just scavengers they are also opportunistic feeders. For a fish that's known by many as a slow lumbering trash eating creature I've had them absolutely crush a moving bait.

Who still uses nothing but mono?
Id also vote for power pro..I use 65lb on my frog rod and have liked it for years. I use mono still and I lean very heavy on copolymer.

$64,000 Question ~
Where can I catch my new pb? Doesn't need to be a world record or even the state record..I'm not greedy. I would just like a 9lb largemouth.

Why are you not using a digital reel?
You said you are looking to buy another reel and looking for reasons to not buy another DC. Then you went on to say they outperform all regular reels. This is confusing. If you are so sure that a DC is better than anything else why do you want to get talked out of it? If money's no issue get a DC that's what you like anyway

Thoughts
Amen to all that my brothers! I only joined a few months back but I lurked a long time prior and wish I woulda got on board a long time ago. This place is definitely somewhere where somebody will know a little something about anything you can come up with. It's great for advice and as a sounding board for ideas but it also a great place for just reading a good story from time to time. For instance their is a topic by Paul Roberts about ice out and bloody fingers that I've read a bunch of times. Sure there's good info in it but what makes me come back is the way it's written. The day by day observational break down style is very reminiscent to me of Doug Stange from In Fisherman which is high praise as far as I'm concerned...Stange being an all time favorite of mine amongst outdoor writers. This is just one example of the goodness to be found in here.

Jig molds
That's kinda what I was afraid of. I looked on do it's site and didn't really find what I was looking for. Also I didn't really want to spend 250 bucks on just a couple molds. Looks like im sticking with mike..which is fine by me as he makes solid stuff. Maybe I'll wait and order a bunch this fall and just spend the winter painting heads, installing weedguards and tying skirts.
