  1. I will completely agree with the above mentioned necessity for a good easy turning swivel. I never really noticed it over the years and did well with spinnerbaits but the past few years my game has been upped a lot by using better quality baits. I've had a lot of bites the past few years by stalling the bait and letting it flutter..something I never really did and it wouldn't have worked anyway cuz the baits I used then wouldn't have had blade action. Case in point I went to pitch over a log with a spinner last week and I made a bad cast ending up on this side of the log and thought oh great. Had a bass crush the bait while it was falling. So my bad cast instantly turned into a great cast. Checked the bait next to shore and sure enough it had great blade flutter on the drop.
  2. I think the jackhammer deal is a little different than a topwater. A bladed jig hangs up fairly easy so your prone to lose some. I've fished poppers for 20 years and have lost 1 I can remember. Cast to a lay down pop pop..boom bass goes hammer time on it pulls me into the lay down and snap. 10 seconds later bass jumps throws the popper and it lands about 10 feet away from me. So I lied I've never technically lost one. Point in making is you will break off a 15 to 20 dollar chatterbait from time to time..but if your reasonably careful with topwaters you may never lose it. Then again this whole chasing down green and brown slime balls is a pay to play. Think of how much money you've ever wasted at the bar or maybe gambling..or any other fruitless enterprise...the price of a bait seems marginal after that?
  3. I actually am considering doing this as a hobby/thing to pass time in winter since I don't ice fish much anymore so it's no trouble to me. I've got the time about 4months of the year. But if I decide against the molds I will continue to use boss and siebert products...that's what I've used for several years now. I'm gonna go to the do it site and see what I find...if it's not to my liking them I'll order bulk from Mike. I'm already making my own skirts and just started hand tying them recently just cuz I like doing it.

I'm looking to maybe start pouring my own jigs in a couple I use the most. I'm like for a mold like the siebert sniper/boss finesse flip and also one like the siebert shotcaller/ boss swim jig style...anybody know what I'm looking for exactly? What is closest to this? Thanks for any help
  5. What is your favorite finesse type worm and color? Also what is your favorite way to rig them? When the water gets hot is when I throw them in my local lake...light Carolina rig on a medium action spinning rod...about the only way I get bit n the dog days besides early and late topwater...favorite is the old havoc bottom hopper 4.75 inch in green pumpkin or junebug
  6. I'm a bank guy and find myself lugging around 4 or 5 rods most days. PITA. I live for the days of two rods...when all I need is a swim jig or spinner bait and a finesse jig.
  7. We all know how great yamamoto senkos are...they are the standard for a reason. I use the bps stik o a lot and like those fine especially when the 30pk are on sale for cheap. That said my two favorites are the gambler ace which seems to be the closest to a senko I've found. The other favorite is the dinger...yeah it's light but I like that for fishing in grass as it falls slow and doesn't hang in the grass as bad. If I want a faster fall I just use a heavy wire hook.
  8. I use booyah and war eagle like everybody else says...siebert outdoors makes some good ones...my favorite are the Nichols metal flake blade spinnerbaits. They run true, are extremely durable and come in a lot of really unique colors.
  9. Weightless 5in BPS stik o green pumpkin weightless T rig 1\4oz bluegill swim jig with either a menace grub or yum Christie craw Black booyah pad crasher frog Probably switch to a buzzbait over the frog soon
  10. My girlfriend turned 30 last month and was freaked out about it until it got here and nothing changed. She works at a daycare so she gets to watch cartoons..do fun science experiments stuff..go to the pool...these things keep her young. I say if you and your significant other are happy..then keep doing your thing. I agree with Scotts outlook on music...another case of you do your thing. When I was 30 I liked to drink party hang with friends. I just turned 37 last week. Pretty much spend all my time working fishing and hanging out with my woman. We had her sister and brother in law over for dinner and drinks last saturday...first time in months I had more than 2 beers in a sitting.
  11. One time I was reaching down to lip a fish fish shook his head and I caught a book under the thumb nail just past the barb...that was neat. Just a few weeks ago I was catching some dinks on a spinnerbait..went to flip in a 12 incher the bait popped and smacked me in the mouth. No harm done.
  12. I'm not really a fan of abus spinning reels but I have 4 of the previous gen revo sx and have had great luck with them.
  13. I'm not freaked out by snakes but I'm not super fond of walking up on one not seeing it til your on it. That creeps me for a second. I'm fortunate that we don't have many poisonous snakes around me...a few rattlers around I've heard but I haven't ever seen or heard any. Mostly see garters and bullsnakes.
  14. Drop of blood dripping off the tail
  15. A lot of it depends on circumstance like others have said. I wouldn't really think much of a 2lbs on my baitcaster but in my ultralight that would be a stud. Also my parents live up by Okoboji and they have a good smallie population in several lakes around them so a good one would be 3lbs. For me my local pond has a small population of mainly little smallies so a good one here is 1.5lbs and up.
  16. Quality is 2+...over 3 is nice...5 and up is big...my biggest of the year is around 7...ever is 8.75
  17. I'll echo this...not quite the same numbers for me but I have probably 20 bladed jigs and 75+ spinnerbaits. I have success with both but spinnerbaits still produce better day in and day out. A swim jig is like a finesse version of both of those to me. My order for a moving jig bait would be spinnerbait..swim jig (close second)...bladed jig (distant third) Nothing can replace a spinner bait for me...May be my overall favorite confidence bait
  18. Weightless senko rigged weedless(texas rig style)...colors green pumpkin in clean to stained water black and blue or June bug for stained to dirty water
  19. I have probably 15 baitcasters...fastest I own is a 7.3 to 1...never had a fish come off cuz I couldn't catch them
  20. I use a 7ft 2in medium heavy rod with either 12 or 15lb copolymer and can cast a senko a long ways. A senko is heavy and streamlined so you can launch it
  21. Perfect..the u tail is a bit small for me but the ol monster is a little big. Sounds like these are the ticket..I'll be getting some for sure
  22. Let me start by saying that I don't use fluoro. I use braid mono and coplymer. So is mono superior? Absolutely not
  23. This is the kinda response I was looking for...thank you
  24. Was gonna say anything z man would work. A bait that I like that has been durable for me is a missile baits d bomb. I can usually catch 5 to 7 fish on a Texas rig then cut the tip off thread it on a jig and catch that many as a trailer. That's pretty durable.
  25. I've never thrown these or even seen them in person. I know they say 9 inches but length is subjective by manufacturer. For those who use these how do they compare to a culprit 7.5 in size..both length and thickness?
