  1. That's a great attitude to have in the face of challenges. Good on you man.
  2. I've got a supervisor from west river South Dakota. He talks alot of trash about being tougher than us Iowa wimps. I told him if I needed a brain transplant I'd get the donor brain from his hometown because its never been used.
  3. We are almost 400 miles apart. I'm 40 miles north of Sioux city, 45 south of Sioux falls in Hawarden. The big Sioux river runs thru town and is our border between Iowa and South Dakota.
  4. Fill it up every time
  5. Well I don't own any watercraft so that is problematic

  7. Do you know what a goldeye is?
  8. I live on the southern edge of this so called American Siberia. We just had a couple team members from our plant in Savannah Georgia onsite last week. One guy says hey we get cold down there to you know. I said oh yeah? It was -46 wind chill over Christmas. Conversation over.
  9. When I started watching Milliken several years ago he was just a fisherman. He's originally from my part of the country so he often times fished places I personally know, so that was always cool. Then he got popular and went all click bait googanesque with his videos. Now he's a joke...and kind of a puke.
  10. Biggest thing for me in the last 15 months is a change in schedule. I've always worked weekends and holidays since I was 17 years old. January of 22 I started doing Monday thru Friday 7-330. Had a 4 month stint back on 12hr shift but the other 11 months I've been doing the 5 day thing. To say I'm happy to be home every weekend and home from work at 345pm instead of 730 would be an understatement. Has really changed my outlook on the job.
  11. This may only be a picture but its still the best comment in this thread
  12. I didn't drink coffee until about 6 months ago. Some weeks its maybe 2 cups a week some weeks its 2 cups a day 4 or 5 days. Then I will have a time where I realize I haven't had any or any caffeine at all for that matter in like 2-3 weeks. Real spotty with me.
  13. Didn't he also say " bet on yourself even if its illegal ,what's the worst that could happen?"
  14. That's not what my post was about
  15. I'm all about profile on a chatterbait. The blade adds plenty of action on its own.

  18. I don't think we should get into that! Point I was making in all of this is the guy that started our company started out building and running a plant. He knows what its like and what it takes. Yet they see fit to let people who have never even stepped foot in a plant decide what it takes. I get it...money talks and bulls$%& walks, and I'm no bleeding heart that cries about how life isn't fair. But just because it is the way it is, don't make it right.
  19. The company I work for went from the plants have majority control at plant level to being under the corporate umbrella and having no say what happens as far as run rates, staffing etc. First thing corporate did was surprise surprise eliminate several positions. When I moved up from plant technician III to water chemistry manager my Plant Manager gave me better hours and a good raise. Then when I checked my job title on our benefits\time management site I saw I was still registered as Plant Tech. When I asked him why he said well its simple, its to protect you. If corporate come down with an eliminate all waters managers at sites change, your still a plant tech III. I guess what I've never understood about big business is two things: If our managers are deemed too stupid to manage their plants and understand the needs, why even have plant management teams? Conversely, how can a company that started with everybody putting actual boots on the ground and wrenchs on pipes think that a logical way to run a business is by having the decisions being made by people ignorant to the process, AKA people who have never had a real job?
  20. Beautiful fish...and welcome.
  21. Depending on where you live this is true. In my neck of the woods the options are pretty slim for something that pays a liveable wage. Yeah you could find another job very easily...may take a 20-40k pay cut to do it. For instance I was looking at local options because I wasn't particularly happy at work. Was only half serious but though why not, always good to see what's out there. Had a buddy offer me a parts and service job where he works. I said ok what do they pay? He said somewhere around X. I thought well thats 10-15k under my base wage if I had no OT and no bonuses...it was actually 40k under what I made last year. So of course I turned it down. That was a few months ago, and that's still the best opportunity I've seen.
