  1. I'd take slow tough fishing if that was the payoff. Another great fish!
  2. So like many of you I struggle with lower back issues and have for a long time. Last year when it got bad I got on a diet and exercise program of stretching\yoga, core strengthening and walking\running. To date I'm down 25ish lbs and outside of a flare up last week in my mid back my overall back health has improved. What I'm noticing lately still is some irritating knots in my mid back and still an overall lack of flexibility. Does anyone have much experience with foam rollers and will this help the issues I've listed?
  3. They have some unique skirt and blade color patterns so that is a bonus. For me the 2 things that stand out are: the overall compact design seems to get bit more for me and they are the right combination of vibration and durability. They are a little pricey up front compared to some but they work and hold up. When I look at price on baits I always ask myself how much is my time off worth and how much did I spend on gas to get where I'm at. Those 2 things usually make a $10-$12 spinner bait seem not so bad.
  4. I love Nichols spinnerbaits...my favorite brand for several years
  5. This here. Has a guy approach me once begging for money. Told me he was homeless and starving. So I said what do you want to eat, there's a grocery store and a restaurant down the street ill buy you some food. He said no I want the money, I just shook my head and walked away. I'm not funding somebody's crack addiction or alcoholism.
  6. Sounds tasty...may have to try that
  7. Ill agree with what @A-Jay said...ice sucks no matter what. Its a nightmare to drive on especially when people aren't used to the conditions. Although us northern guys may not be impressed by what you guys call cold or snow, ice is a totally different deal. I lived right outside of Houston back in the 90s...when I was in 8th grade we had the first snow and ice my town had seen in decades. It stayed below freezing and they had no equipment to remove the few inches of snow and half inch of ice. They closed my school for like 4 days because of it.
  8. Oh boy...I'm honored
  9. My PB largemouth of 8lbs 12oz came in spring of 2003. My PB smallie was just under 5lbs..think it was spring of 2008. My PB drought is going on 20 years so now I'm officially the worst fisherman here.
  10. I'm sorry about his friend- but that is a nice story. Looks like he is with you guys bringing you some luck. Btw never wash any fishing clothing...you may rinse off the magic.
  11. Thing I love the most about your pics is your dads dirty a.....sorry well worn Iaconelli hat. That's a real fishing hat!
  12. Just googled it...appears to be the same
  13. Been considering trying one out for small swim baits and possibly a backup catfish reel. Anybody have much experience with them? Should I get one or just stick with a Garcia 5500 C3?
  14. Looks great...is salsa fresca the same thing as Pico deal gallo?
  15. Atta boy...way to keep at it
  16. For anybody looking to stock up before these are gone forever Tackle warehouse has a good supply and they are marked down about 25%.
  17. I've got a fury baitcaste and its a fine rod. Couple seasons in and I have no complaints. For the money I'd much rather have an Ark Tharp series...lighter, crisper and better guides. That said at 40% off the fury is a heck of deal. Honestly for frogs you don't need the extra sensitivity so the fury would suit you just fine.
  18. Well yesterday I ordered some zman flashback mini chatterbaits and damiki armor shads after picking the brain of @AlabamaSpothunter about them. Seen them bragged up in several posts and after digging thru the details they seem like the perfect ice out moving bait for some of my local lakes. Guess we will find out in a few months. Outside of those I ordered some mustad bait scissors for cutting shad and chubs on my catfish outings. Its easy to say I'm all set now, but we've got alot of winter ahead of us.
  19. Best way I've found for me is take my down spout off where I connects to the gutter then stick my garden hose in the other end of the gutter and flush it out. Works great on the nasty mucky stuff like you described...fresh leaves not so much.
  20. Maybe this is the answer! I used to live in that neck of the woods!
  21. My brother in law did my sidewalk today because we got more than I wanted to scoop. Stupid back! Anyway he has a single stage and he told tonight me he wished he still had his 2 stage. Think that's definitely the way I will go. Yeah it will be a little heavier but I'm not planning on hauling it around much so that shouldn't be much if an issue.
  22. Ooh man now your talking good eats! Couple rolls of that and I dare you to gamble on a fart.
  23. I also look forward to new rods more than new reels..especially spinning gear. Likely because the rod gives you the feel and balance in your hand...so that's where I notice the most difference. For me I can pair any new spinning rod with a Daiwa reel anywhere in the $50-$100 range and call it a day. That kind of confidence really takes alot of the wonder out of it...because I feel like I know what I'm getting in advance.
  24. The driveway is not very big...barely wide enough for 2 trucks. Maybe 35 feet long. We do get some wet slushy snow in March but majority of it is fairly dry and fluffy.
  25. I've never owned one, always just shoveled and toughed it out. Backs not liking the shoveling anymore. Where I live a normal year we usually get 35" of snowfall in a season. We've had a couple bigger snow events this year but a typical snow is 3"-6" average I'd say. Just looking for brand recommendations? Is it worth paying the extra for 2 stage where I live? Thanks for any help
