Summer whiskey...
Thank you for the info, its greatly appreciated. Based off what you said it doesn't sound like a hot weather sipper to me, it does sound very good however. I think the price is typically around $85. A little steep but I may still give it a shot.

What's your opinion?
I agree that Olive Garden is extremely overrated. Its my sister and my nieces favorite and I don't get it. The part that blows my is the tiny little town they live in has a family run Italian place, and its far superior. Its not much more money wise and the food is roughly 37x better.

Will you southern boys take your weather back...please.
111 heat index here. Not a great day to be working in a running biofuel plant.

Summer whiskey...
If its that powerful I'm not sure why people are saying its a good summer whiskey. I did hear it has some citrus notes and apricot sweetness...maybe people think its kinda tropical.

Summer whiskey...
One I keep seeing mentioned in articles as a great summer whiskey is Barrel Seagrass Rye. I'm very intrigued but all I've seen are YouTube reviews, no practical ones from anybody I know. It runs $85-$100 a bottle so not sure I wanna take a chance on it.

Summer whiskey...
I should get a light scotch...sounds good. I will say I agree with you guys about going Irish...Redbreast is the only whiskey I've really enjoyed on a hot day thus far.

Summer whiskey...
So I'm trying to find some whiskies I enjoy during the brutal heat. This weather just screams cold drink to me unfortunately. For you whiskey heads out there, what ones do you reach for in summer?

Double Up....On Topwater
I'm living this right now. My local lake as been extra stingy this year, I mean like worst fishing I've had there in 20+ years. Think I've been skunked the last 3 or 4 times out. By this time of year I've usually caught well over 100 bass there, this year I've caught maybe 15. Put that into perspective I've fished a lake 35 miles from my house 1 time this year for 2.5hrs and I caught 13. I'm just too busy on weekends, always got scrap going on. When I only get 2.5 to 3 hrs at a crack I don't want to spend half of it driving.

Not convinced I can fish two days in a row comfortably.
I remember back when I worked nights several times working a 12hr shift, driving 2hrs then fishing all day. I'd be up from like 4pm until 10pm the next day, never thought twice about. Now days there is no way in he'll I'd consider it.

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
Its hot as hell here today so I'm going with either an Amaretto sour or a Gin and Tonic. Got a bottle of Calumet farms small batch last weekend for a gift...its ok. I don't understand low proof whiskey over $50...doesnt make sense to me.

Hawaii
Never been there, no desire to ever go. Had a buddy that went to college there and stayed a few years after...5 or 6 years total. Said it was cool when he was younger but would never move back now.

I Don't Understand This
Several factors at play I believe. A job like your describing takes time and commitment to learn, with that comes responsibility and when your responsible for work getting done and it doesn't go well you cant get by saying its everyone's fault but mine. There's a real lack of drive and accountability in most people these days. Also as mentioned above its hard to get somebody to commit to a real skill job for $18hr when they can work at Wal-Mart for more than that stocking shelves at night...don't have any pressure on you, the boss isn't around. Lastly another thing I notice now a days is everybody feels like the world owes them something and that everything has to be "fair" whatever that means. Say your buddy hires a young person and teaches them the skills necessary to be competent at the job. A year in a portion of people will think they deserve to make the same money as him, never mind his risk and investment of both time and money are much higher. That won't matter because they are doing the same work as him. Entitlement is a powerful drug.

hot dogs
Agreed. I could put down 4-6 under normal circumstances. Let me have half a bottle of Michters Rye and I could down 11....3 minutes later 10 would come back up.

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
The rare breed was surprising to me. Obviously it has some similar notes to the 101 but the step up in age and price actually made it less hot even at a much higher proof. I know guys like it over ice, but even neat I couldn't find any sharp edges.
