The annual Nathan's hot dog eating contest at Coney Island had a rain delay earlier and it's currently now airing live on espn2.  Joey Chestnut is ahead by 10 against the next closest competitor.  The record is 76 dogs in 10 minutes, held by Chestnut.  Its painful to watch these guys dunk such a nationally treasured 4th of July food in water and slurp it down lol.

 

How many hot dogs do you think you could eat in 10 minutes?  I think I could do about 10.  Average one per minute.

 

Zero, I ate them as a kid, then as an adult I learned how and what they were made of ?

Have you ever seen the movie “the great outdoors “ with John Candy ? Every time I see someone eating a hotdog I think about those raccoons.

I can't watch it. I can only eat one hot dog, and I prefer it roasted over a campfire. That's my limit. That guy will pay for this at some point.

It’s fun to watch the start but then it just gets disgusting. You can see the pain on their faces as the cram it down. 60 dogs is about 16,000 calories- about 8 days worth of eating in 10 minutes. Yowzah! 
It’s weirdly impressive but I always go back to the saying - Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

 

btw - I could probably get a dozen in in ten minutes. Not proud of it; it just is.

That is one thing that I don’t ever eat.  Even as a kid I never liked them.  Now give me a good ribeye or KC strip and no telling how much I could put away.

Sunday was 6poundbass’s birthday and we had hotdogs. Yesterday morning he and I went fishing. His breakfast at 6:30am…. Hotdogs w/ ketchup and mustard and washed is down with a big glass of OJ. ?

I can eat enough hotdogs. My 260 lbs isn't sustainable without sufficient caloric intake.

Best I've ever done is 2 brats and a burger at a cookout, and then 2 more brats later that night from the leftovers. And I regretted every bit of it. I couldn't imagine how long it takes these guys to digest all of that food.

Agreed. I could put down 4-6 under normal circumstances. Let me have half a bottle of Michters Rye and I could down 11....3 minutes later 10 would come back up.

I know what they are, and what they're made of but I don't care, hot dogs are one of my favorite foods. I prefer a Nathan's or Hebrew National, but they're all good.

 I could eat more than two in 10 minutes, but like my friend @MN Fisher, that's all I'm going to eat. My favorite way to eat them is either a chili dog or a slaw dog.
