Yup that is one of my go tos lol, was kinda a secret I thought until now, to get out further I throw 1/16th and if the water is deeper 1/8th. Love this rig alot, also for smaller baits I'll use a 1/0 twist lock which is nice!

For the issue of you loosing bigger fish, it just happens sometimes, like loosing smaller fish. Make sure just not to crank them in fast as they will throw the hook, play them a little. I know guys talk about bending out hooks but the only time I have bent out a hook (but still caught a fish) is when I was fishing a size 12 ultra light wire bait holder hook and hooked into a 8lb trout. Moral of the story is don't worry about hooks bending out because with a thick standard ewg hook the odds are very slim, unless you hook into a 20 lber. As for smaller hooks it doesn't matter, I have caught a 5lber on a size 12 baitholder hook panfishing in winter and no issues. I would recommend keep doing what you are doing! That's my best recommendation for you, if anything just give them an extra few seconds to get the bait in their mouth because their mouths are larger than standard 1-3lb lmb

Oh man I love fly fishing for trout, do you live in california? The thing I hate about the fly fishing industry is how expensive it is though. I found a solution to that issue and picked up a piscifun sword 2 fly reel for 60 dollars and feels like a 200 dollar Orvis reel. I also got a diawa Algonquin fly rod which is really nice. Wow I really should try some ewg ned rigs it seems, seems it is the ticket. I got se with a little weed guard but I feel those may get caught in grass as well. I need to pick up a dark sleeper for sure, I do have some buzzbaits which could work in the morning, would totally use a jerkbait if not for the grass,, and finesse jigs could also be worth a try did not think of that. Thanks for these ideas, brainpower being put together is strong!

Oh If you are talking about Castaic lake as well, I'd say that has less pressure, which is crazy to think about lol Ah yes, I have noticed going early helps, I don't know if the lower visibility in clear water helps but it seems too, overcast days or windy days seem to make the world of a difference as well for some reason Good to know good to know, I got 8lb copoly ATM but will tie a floro leader because it may help out that much A good point, I have some smaller 2.8 swimbaits on 1/4th oz jigheads, fast and small may be a good bet

I guess it's not a secret lake but it's called lake poway in sandiego, TONS of bass fishing pressure, I mean it is rough, almost as rough as Dixon, where a large record bass was caught. Super tiny and not large by any means Yeah I feel like I'll try this method, I'll probably stick to the latter because if you where to see the ridiculous amount of pressure this place gets, 50 guys are throwing spinnerbaits on the weekend or some moving bait. It's gonna be rough ? Ah yup will bring a few of these

So I am going to be fishing the most pressured lake in my whole county, and it is Gen clear. Honestly it's rough getting bit here but I will try my best. I'll also note it's super tiny for the amount of pressure it gets, like super tiny not near the size as most lakes. What's your favorite thing to throw in this situation? Mine is a straight tail worm or something like that, what about you guys? ?

Yup, works well and you can even run some of the worm up the line as well to make the hook be farther down. Senkos still tear after about a fish for me but I cut them in half and use them for Ned rigs.

I think the stupidest thing I saw was there was a parent and kid at the 4th of July parade riding bikes in between the moving floats, they got kicked out but I just cannot understand the stupidity of the parent in this case. In the case of fishing the most stupid person I have seen was in trout fishing. I was fishing a stream and I sadly says "trout"! And walks into the stream with her dog to chase them knowing I was fishing that hole. It's California though so I really am not surprised, seems like we have all the braindead people in the nation when it comes to this stuff. When I'm 40 I want to move, any state but California. The crowds and lack of common sense is what may kill me faster

Im very ocd as well and in my household if I take my Dad fishing I have to drag him out of bed at 6 and then he sits on the couch to drink coffee for an hour ?. Worst part of all he brings 3 bananas and eats one in the car, at the ramp, and on the water.

So I have just purchased the lews xfinity combo and was putting line on it and it was not spooling perfectly even I was using a clinch knot like I always do on my casting reels and never have had an issue, is it the knot maybe? Or maybe is it just the reels fault? Any solutions would be useful, thanks!
