Rainy Day Bass
Headed out at Stonewall Jackson Lake on Saturday with a light drizzle of rain. Ended up being a good day. Water was 61 degrees, slightly stained. Caught one 5lbr, one 4.9lbr, one 4.5 lbr, and two that were just over three pounds. Caught 17 in all but these were the biggest. All, (largemouth) came from a pig and jig except the five and a small Kentucky spot which came from a Rapala DT 10. My thanks to all who contribute on this forum for the knowledge that I have gained to have a good day of fishing so early in the year.

Jig-verted
Burley, after I started fishing a jig, seems like that is all I want to use now. I may not catch as many fish, but the average size has increased two fold. Nice smallie, I'd be happy to stick that one.

hi, i'm new here
Welcome BassMatt. This is just crazy how small the world is. ;D I grew up on the Guyandotte River. I used to spend all my summers there in a 14 foot john boat. Man oh man the memories I have of all the fishing I used to do there. The section I fished was just below the the town of Wyoming. There is a hole of water in between riffles about 1.5 miles long. I'm sure you know where I'm talking about. Can't believe another fellow Wyoming Countian is on this site. ;D Don't be a stranger!!! Blaine,

Competition, Ain't It Great?
I don't know but I really like being on the beneficial end of this. : I only wish Shimano would do the same to the Stella lineup. Who wouldn't want a Stella for $199.99? ;D

My new PB

How long before you re-spoll with braid?
I do this as well, but I do it once a year. I also just feed it from one reel to the other. You must look funny wrapping fishing line around your house. ;D ;D I will fish a whole season, then flip the line and fish another season. So I am basically getting two years out of that 100 yards or so. But I also don't use my braid set-up that often. My wife laughs at me and my neighbors think I've lost my mind..... ;D ;D ;D

Forget about the Zillion...
I know what you mean, I'm not looking forward to telling the wife in the morning what I done....but I hate to pass on deals. She may see it differently though! :

TD-Z's $199 shipped @ Cabelas
I am strictly Daiwa on baitcasters and strictly Shimano on spinning reels. Haven't found a spinning reel yet I like more than the Stella. I know, I'm weird :

How long before you re-spoll with braid?
This might sound crazy but I pull off all the braid around my house and yard and spool it up again with the old end first and when I'm done all the new unused line is on the outside. ;D I usually do this after about two months of fishing. Then I have to buy a new spool to fill it up the next time.
