This year's starting lineup - Team Daiwa
I got it back in December of 2007. It's the one on the big cranking rod I was using last year at Guntersville in the deeper water.

Exclusive Mike McClelland Video Interview
Great video. Those guys lives aren't nearly as glamorous as everyone leads you to believe. I think I could put up with it though. Thanks for the vid guys.

I run all the Carbontex with a very light film of grease. I lose about 1/2 pound of drag on top end by running them wet but the break away drag is so much smoother. You don't get that stutter on the initial run of the fish as you would running them dry. I used Cal's Drag Grease from SmoothDrag last year, this year I am using Shimano Drag Grease from Reel Mech's shop. They're both nearly identical except for color, I just wanted to try something new this year. That's the beauty of servicing your own reels, if you don't like it, you can always change it.

The only difference I have noticed is the ZPI bearings are a little more noisier at first when compared to the Lightnings. They seem to break in faster too. I haven't noticed much difference in overall casting distance between the two.

I'm not talking about the red one...Muhahahaha There's a JDM version due to be released around the middle of April.

I don't own one but I'm sure it's just as solid as the rest of the Zillions. I will probably end up getting one before too long...hangs head in shame. :-[

What a Frick'n MESS.
If it was 58 outside here I would be running laps around the house in the nude. It's a balmy 21 here, supposed to hit 50 this Saturday though. Woo Hoo, come on heatwave.

I think I guessed a little high. The Bassart site says they are 15.6 grams and I'm assuming they are meaning only one knob. That would translate to 1.1 oz. for the pair. They just feel a lot heavier than 1 oz when holding them in your hand. Put it this way, I would hate to get hit in the head with one. I been wanting to see those painted reels of yours for nearly a year now...patiently waiting.

You need one 11x5x4mm for the spool and one 8x3x4mm for the sideplate. You can get them at these websites depending on what type of bearing you want. http://www.***/shopping/shop/store/reel-repair-supplies06.html http://www.brooklynbillstackleshop.com/zpi/office_zpi_bearings.html http://www.smoothdrag.com/price.html (scroll down to bottom)

What a Frick'n MESS.
After you get it all wiped up try putting about a cup of bleach into a bucket of warm water and mopping up the detergent film on the floor. That should do it. Off topic, what are you calling cold? 50 degrees?

New use for Bow to Stern
I'm sitting here cleaning up a few rods for this coming weekends trip to the lake and looked over at one of my Bow to Stern bottles in the closet. I thought if it worked so well on the boat trim, how does it work on rods? If you have any, try it, you will be very pleased with the results. My rods look like new again.

Help! Loomis GLX vs. Kistler LTX
Why don't you go and hold both rods and see which one you like better instead of asking others which ones they prefer? Both are great rods and both have lifetime guarantees. I use Kistler and others use Loomis, we are going to recommend the brand we use.

Very nice looking group you got there Rowland, taking quite a liking to the Zillions I see. After I opened up my first Zillion last year I could see why they felt so solid, they are built like a tank. It only gets worse from there.

(UPDATE) Successful trip with donbeatya

RIP Paul Harvey
Kind of bums me out a little bit. I remember being a little kid, riding in the car with dad and listening to Paul. Dad would always turn the volume up a little bit when Paul came on the radio. R.I.P.

I deal with Brooklyn Bill a lot. He's very fast in shipping which is free in the U.S.A. and his prices are always within a few dollars if not better than everyone else. I'ZE Factory 90mm Carbon Handle

They feel great, just a little on the heavy side compared to regular knobs or cork. Figure on adding nearly two ounces to the total weight of the reel after putting them on.
