Upgraded bearings
Well just so you are aware, I am replacing the factory spool bearings for my curado 70xg and scorpion bfs jdm reel with the ceramic hybrid bearings. Do you think I will see an improvement with these?

So should I leave mine alone or add a tiny drop of oil to them, in your opinion?

Peacock bass question

Peacock bass question
So I live in Florida, and we have peacock bass here. They are really fun to fish, they put up a nice fight. I saw something I never witnessed before. Late December/early January this year I noticed all the peacock bass seemed to die off in the lake I fish at occasionally. They were floating everywhere. Do they dump chemicals in these lakes to kill off peacock bass, or is this some kind of weather related phenomenon where they cant handle cold fronts like largemouth bass? Any insight would be appreciated

Upgraded bearings
So I ordered a couple sets of hybrid ceramic spool bearings for two of my reels. They are the ones with the orange side covers. It has instructions that come with them that say do not open the side covers, that if you do want to add oil, just add half a drop on the outside and it will work it's way in. Otherwise according to the description these bearings are ok to be run "dry". Should I add the half drop of oil, or just install them as is? Thanks

Major Craft MS-1
While I'm sure the Japanese model from Japan is better, it is probably only marginally better. I already ordered from the US website two days ago, I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Major Craft MS-1
I ordered directly from the majorcraft website...so is that US or Japan then

Major Craft MS-1
Too long in the sense it got in the way? Please explain. I'm under the impression the handle is between 12" - 15"

Major Craft MS-1
So most JDM rods are typically out of the price range im willing to pay, but I stumbled on Major Craft rods yesterday. There is not too much info on them around, but from what I did find they seem pretty respected. I pulled the trigger and purchased the 7' 3" mh "worm and jig" model. I read a couple places that these rods fish lighter than rated, does that mean I should not expect the backbone of this rod to be like a mh? Does anyone own any of these model rods and what is your opinion of them? Thanks

Rod for new Chronarch G
I'm looking between 7' - 7-3 medium heavy all around rod. The curado can be had for 150-170 depending on length, not quite at $200. I'm trying to stay under 200 but it is not so easy

Rod for new Chronarch G
Hey, So I've narrowed down my choices of a new rod to 3 options right now.. Shimano curado, st. Croix victory, and falcon lowrider. Do you guys have any experience with these rods or suggestions? Thanks

Rod selection decision
Interesting, thanks for the response

Rod selection decision
Hey, When it comes to selecting a new rod over the years, what have you mainly based your decision on? Some people may buy just strictly on price point, others may buy just based on certain components (if it was made with Fuji guides/reel seat for example). Some people may just be brand loyal...what would you say that your decision was mostly based on? Thanks

Bass one xt rod?
Lol ok, well the rod in question here is the bass one xt by shimano. About $130. Would you consider this a cheap 2 piece rod or a quality rod?

Bass one xt rod?
Hey happy Sunday everyone So I came across a rod that seems to only be sold in Japan, the bass one xt, and it looks pretty promising. Can't seem to find much info on the rod, but the build quality looks pretty high like their more premium rods. Thing is it only seems to be sold in a 2 piece setup. Max length seems to be 6'10". I was thinking about a curado rod, but then I discovered this lol. These days there should not be too much concern with a 2 piece setup in terms of performance/failure of the connection point right? Do any of you guys own a bass one xt? What are your thoughts between going with it vs the curado rod? Thanks

Current rod and reel grouping
So.....? ?

New Chronarch G
Exactly I need to decide if I want to use the rod for crankbaits/spinnerbaits or for soft plastics. Have not made up my mind yet. But I still welcome suggestions either way

Current rod and reel grouping
Hey, So what rods and reels are you all using regularly? I don't mean the collection you have, but the combos you tend to regularly use. For me it's: 1. Curado 200k on a castaway crankin' rod. 2. Curado 70 on a gander mountain tournament series rod. 3. Bantam mgl on a shimano intenza rod. 4. Stradic 2500 FL on a defy black rod (looking for a better rod for this reel) 5. Scorpion bfs on a shimano clarus rod. Thanks

New Chronarch G
Yes that rod caught my eye, but like you are sort of hinting at it's a bit steep too in terms of cost
-
New Chronarch G
For a rod I'm not really willing to spend more than $200. If it was a spectacular piece, possibly $250 but no more
-
New Chronarch G
Lol hmm...certainly expensive enough that's for sure ? while I may spend $300-$400 for a reel, that's a bit too rich for my blood. I can't really justify spending that much. If I was a professional in the industry then that's one thing. No doubt it's a great performer. I will just have to stand in the background and watch others use that particular rod from afar ?

New Chronarch G
Hey, So I recently purchased a chronarch G and I had a chance to play around with it today. This reel is impressive out of the box, it casts very smoothly and pretty far. Now I just need to pair it with a nice rod lol. Anyone out there who owns this particular reel, do you have any recommendations on a rod that would pair nicely? Thanks

Opinion on reel condition
Same. I just purchased a Chronarch G and this weekend I'm going to go through it and add the necessary oil and grease

Opinion on reel condition
Me too...I learned my lesson the hard way 5 years ago when I decided to leave my rod and reel outside on a windy day leaning against the wall of my house...sure enough I hear a loud crack, left a nice couple dings in the paint. It was my new Curado 200k, only had it for a month....I was not a happy camper lol ? but it was my fault of course. These days when I use it, I always remember that dark day ?..
