  1. Nice catch! ?
  2. Decided to cast out this evening with an hour or so of light left, managed to land these two nice examples. First bass thrashed around and ripped the worm off...in the water of course so I could not recover it ? (was a 4" junebug yum dinger, junebug seems like a color that always does well). The second was really nice, easily 18" - 20", felt like 4 pounds easy or close to it. exploded on the surface as the finesse worm was starting to sink. I also saw a 3 foot snakehead try and ambush a fairly large bird down by the water! ? It never occurred to me they would leap out of the water to kill birds..
  3. Hey So I recently purchased a multi pack of inexpensive single hooks used to swap out treble hooks on crankbaits. At first appearance they seem really nice quality and come in a nice case. They are by "THKFISH"..I have never heard of them and wondered if you all have any experience using them. Thanks
  4. My humble catch today, lost a couple but I will take it ?. A snakehead ripped one of my finesse worms clean off the hook too...darn pest. Was a nice cool day for fishing
  5. Lol just hang in there, you will. Hang on for the ride too, it seems to me that they fight more aggressively than largemouth do. They get pretty large too ?? happy fishing
  6. My catch this morning fishing around an hour. Decided to fish plastic worms this time. Lost one fish, and Lost my hook and worm to another...the line must have been frayed/nicked and I didn't notice ?. It was a nice vmc hook too, with the corkscrew twistlock piece you twist in the head of the worm to retain it better. FYI the bass with just a hook threw the worm in the water when it was landed. It was a 5" yum dinger, black with gold flake ?
  7. Thanks, I have no idea how this happened. I never bumped the rod or anything in this area, just seems like a strange place to happen
  8. I just noticed a small piece of paint chipped away where the exposed part of the blank is by the finger rest. How should I seal it so it can't chip away any further? Thanks
  9. Oh OK thanks for the info ? lol I doubt today you can get a rod with fuji guides and fuji reel seat for $50 ? ah the good old days
  10. Well now I'm going to give my spinnerbaits another try in the pond ? it can't hurt
  11. Hmm now that's a very interesting viewpoint
  12. My catch for yesterday, forgot to post last night. Did pretty well, lost a couple to hesitated hook sets though ? I really need to get it in my head that I need to put more force in my hookset. As you can tell, I have a thing for inline spinners lol ?
  13. I would agree with that, I have caught more bass on the chatterbait and crankbait than spinnerbaits.
  14. Oh yeah a couple people mentioned the mustad fastach. I tried looking for them at a couple stores but it seems I will have to order them
  15. I actually used just a snap today with a couple inline spinners and man...they were twisting the line up bad. Personally I have not noticed any decrease in feel or action from them when I use a snap swivel, but each person has a different experience. I would say out of all the lures, I use inline spinners the most by far lol. I'm an addict, I must have 50 or 60 different styles, sizes, and brands ? but hey they produce for me so
  16. Oh, is that possibly why they were made with fuji components?
  17. I recently found a rod stashed away and forgot about, it was one of my very first baitcasting rods I purchased probably 13 or 14 years ago by "ANDE". it's a 7' medium power rod "tournament inshore", and on closer inspection I was surprised to see it actually has a fuji reel seat and fuji guides with the old grey ceramic inserts or whatever material it was. Back then in my early baitcasting days, I never paid a lot of money for a rod, probably 30 - 50 dollars at most. At that price range I would never expect to see fuji components used, but maybe 15+ years ago that was more the case? I tried looking around online about these rods or videos but nothing is really out there that I could find. Does anyone have experience with this company and their products?
  18. Fished in the pond for a couple hours today. Caught a nice Mayan cichlid(sorry no pic), decent bass, and a fish I rarely encounter in this pond...black crappie. I lost a couple too, but I did have an alligator for an audience to entertain ?
  19. Yeah I agree with that
  20. Yes i purchased these yesterday by vmc, at first they seem like they might be a pain to use but I was surprised to find it's easy to open them up and close ?
  21. Wow looks awesome
  22. I think for most this will be the case lol. Thanks
  23. Hmm that's interesting. Would you say this is because of the material quality or the age of the rod?
  24. So I once heard that leaning your fishing rods against the wall instead of having them on a rack could permanently "deform" them because they are bent, particularly over a long period of time. I feel like this is a myth, or possibly happened to rods made a long time ago. Has anyone found this to be true in your experience?
  25. I have caught several snakeheads in the past, just by happenstance actually lol. So today at the scum pond I decided I would purposely try and catch one...needless to say I could not get one! The water is chocolate milk, but I can see the snakeheads swimming around everywhere. I even casted a blue and black chatterbait right across the front of one, retrieved slowly, and it did not even attempt to go for it. That confused me, considering their aggressive temperament. Do these fish see well? Any thoughts on what might be going on? I have always assumed snakeheads will go for anything you throw to catch bass.
