1. Absolutely, you may also want to run a piece of nylon stocking through the guide checking for nicks and/or rough edges.
2. They are around .......https://www.ebay.com/itm/203406780962?hash=item2f5bfd2a22:g:F2sAAOSwk9FegbQF
3. Being a big topwater fan and always looking for new product has anyone here used ChaseBaits "The Smuggler"? If so what is your most productive way of working it and your opinion on its action that makes it different.
4. They stopped making the DC7 in 2015 just so you know.
5. The knobs are very comfortable in my hands. Still needs to be torn down and re-lubed along with replacing the worm gear bushing with a bearing.
6. No it does not just a clicking drag star.
7. When ever MegaBass comes up on a forum this is how the conversation goes just like you are seeing here. I for one am a huge Megabass fan , why because they catch fish big time. If they do not work for you well then so be it, but why does it always turn into a "justify the cost"conversation if it is not about the cost. The range of product that MegaBass offers the angler has not even scratched the surface in this conversation to even consider it something to evaluate it. Yes I still have a boat load of Rapala lures that got replaced years ago sitting in the basement and then there is Jackall , Raid Japan, Imakatsu, Rosso Corsa , Gan Craft to name a few.
8. Sweet reel have been using it for going on 5 years with no issues. Yes you will hear chatter about the famed "Metanium Hum" it drives some to the point they jump out of their boat and into the water. The good news is you can buy a brass gear set from Tackle Trap if this fateful issue ever occurs with yours and you will be saved. Seriously the only other thing is the worm gear rides on a bushing but that is an easy fix , replace it with a Shimano knob bearing and you will be good to go. Almost forgot have the brass gear set but it still sits in the package.
9. Arrived last week and certainly is the smallest Antares DC ever produced.
10. Looks like April......http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/reel/6277
11. Who says it is for smaller fish ? For a change it is fun to finesse the fish out of the heavy cover instead of lugging it out......
12. Are you sure you seated the yoke properly.
13. I agree will not pay 700. for it , just received an email from Plat for 578. so there will be even lower prices .
14. According to Jun Sonoda of Japan Tackle it is the 19 Antares version with DC. Looking at those pictures the 21 is definitely a smaller reel. His quote:Jun's comment: DC version of 19 Antares has debut.
15. Redo......https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/reel/6273
16. Oh yeah ......https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/reel/6276
17. The Calais was the US version of the Antares but that was discontinued in 2015 . So now the Antares is a JDM distributed product only.
18. The 2021 Japan Fishing Festival started releasing all the new JDM products.
19. http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/reel/6276 Translated....https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/reel/6276
20. Not sure if you have read the specs on both reels but here they are. The Monster Drive is really geared for larger baits so if that is not your need I would go with the standard model.https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Ffishing.shimano.co.jp%2Fproduct%2Freel%2F5572 https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Ffishing.shimano.co.jp%2Fproduct%2Freel%2F5572
21. Been fishing with DC reels since their inception Round 2003(Conquest) and Low Profile 2006(Antares/ Calais DC7) including their most current models. Never have had an issue with their performance ie: DC Module failure. Have only seen refinement to these reels over the years needing less time to maintain and easier access to do so.
