1. Since you like Shimano and want something to last this would certainly fill the bill. Got this setup for last season throwing mainly 1.5 DRS and S Crank 1.2.
2. Just got a new cranking set up and went with the 20 Calcutta Conquest 100 DC. Have no issues with line capacity using Sunline Defier 15lb. however if capacity is then you could go to the 200. Been a DC fan since Shimano came out with them and in my opinion they got more into line control/backlash and gave up distance. Very happy with the performance of the new Conquest DC and no longer have an issue with distance.
3. Just what you asked for......Conquest BFS HG.
4. It is going Full Monocoque......it will be taken apart and done over internally at the same time plan on comparing the IDC5 to the OG.
5. Actually 8/9 years ago Jackall and Shimano entered into a partnership with rod development and there are 3 rods that are in that program Poison Ultima , Poison Glorious and Poison Adrena (that are JDM). However the Adrena is the only one that has made it state side . The Ultima being the top dog with PG and then the PA to follow, however the Ultima has the least amount of offerings. So when you look a Loomis Conquest rod with Spiral X Technology it came the Jackall boys . I just happen to be someone who has chosen the Poison Glorious line and really enjoy their offerings.
6. Yes there is a slot on either side of the XC and that is the first I have seen them on a PG. However I still prefer the fuji line keeper so I can have the hook pass through it.
7. Yes the reel is worth it and for about 100 dollars more than a 20 JDM Met.
8. Had that happen a long time ago but not to point of warping just splitting at the seam. Now I either put the box back in the bag or cover it with a towel. Hard way to find out just how harsh Direct Sunlight can be......
9. I like you sense of humor..... Actually I wanted to check the rod out and did not mount the hook keeper....White because it was touched for the very first time..HaHaHa....There is a 20 Conquest 100 DC showing up this week for this stick.
10. Interesting conversation to say the least and you can certainly separate the myth from reality. Having owned DC reels since their inception it has been entertaining. Shimano introduced the DC reel in 2003 by the way of the Calcutta Conquest(having 8 adjustments) which took a reel that turned 15,000 -20,000 rpms to a reel that turned 30,000 plus rpms with the ability to adjust the spool speed in 1/1000th of a second. Now I can thumb a reel just like everyone else so I certainly challenged the reel but at the same time was intrigued by the increase in the spool speed. d**n it did perform with longer casts but you still had to be vigilant with your thumb just in case. In 2006 they introduced the 4X8 Digital Antares/Calais DC which took it to the next plateau more adjustment and longer distance to boot. Now I say distance because I use them for topwater, cranking, frogging and want to have the ability to reach out . In 2008 the Conquest got a little dumbed down in distance but now in 2020 they are saying it is back (have one on its way). The Antares in 2016 was done over with some weight reduction with no cast control knob but maintained the 4X8 Digital Control continuing its ability to reach out. I commend Shimano for bringing out more DC models but at the same time they have put a restrictor plate on those reels . Having owned these reels for 14 to 17 years they still perform like new and have stood the test of time.....P.S. On the Antares wind mode I did not believe it would work but it did and laughed like hell watching the reels ability to adjust all on its own while still achieving its ability to get distance.
11. Congratulations....Sweet Reel.
12. Great topwater bait in either size when the water is flat. Try experimenting with your retrieve to see what works for you like any other topwater. One of my favorites is bring it up on some Lilly Pads and let it just sit, then just give it a light twitch and work it like that. While you are looking at Jackall check out the Chop Cut another very exciting topwater bait.
13. Ty I do agree with you on the preset stuff however Shimano kept the 4X8 on the 16 Antares DC and yes it is still a distance caster. Being a DC guy since they came out the 4X8 in my opinion is the DC reel benchmark......
14. Just back off the spool tension knob and see how it feels after that....
15. I would be all over a 20 Metanium for that stick........
16. Here is a picture of a 20 Met with a greased up worm shaft that I received a couple of weeks ago.....
17. That is how they get shipped from the factory, one more reason why I take apart brand new reels. The Ace 2 you found is the same as their standard drag grease that you can get in 1 ounce tubs .(see picture) No need to get from Japan Tackle just call Shimano and order. In my opinion you would be better off keeping a needle nosed bottle with Bantam Oil with you so you can oil all your worm shafts while out fishing........
18. Have a Poison Glorious XC 170M-G on order that is supposed to be in by the end of the month. Hopefully it will take as long as the reel I ordered that took 4 days a couple of weeks ago....Would highly recommend Kazu at Japan Angler.
19. 15lb. and 17lb. Defier and Armilo....
20. Actually the TE was the model marketed in the USA while the Conquest was the JDM model marketed in Japan. The Conquest had the following differences a drilled side plate , a forged handle ,a forged drag star and a clicking cast control knob.
