  1. I think the Orioles have the toughest remaining schedule of any MLB team. Going to be a tough go.
  2. How apropos as I just had my first strike on a tube yesterday. I had it Texas rigged, but as with worms and other soft plastics, “weedless” is not algaeless. That bullet weight snags algae, pegged or unpegged. So, not having any fancy-schmancy hooks for tubes on-hand, while searching the tacklebox(es), I saw some shakeyhead hooks. The shakeyhead fed up the tube easily to stupid rig it. Just not sure about the hook angle. It’s Texposed in these pics. Let me know what you think.
  3. I still have two Aird-X’s in my rotation as well. A MH/F and a M/F baitcasters. Both paired with Black Max reels. I enjoy fishing with both of them.
  4. No pics, as the three dinks I boated weren’t worth the pixels. Very slow morning. One on a jerkbait and two on a Zoom Mag 2. Lost another on the jerkbait and another on a tube. Which was happy/sad, as that was the first bass I’ve had had bite on a tube.
  5. Not a great day. Only boated five (one dink) in 4 hours, and lost a decent one that not only shook my jerkbait loose, it flew back and stuck in the heavy denier nylon cover of my inflatable. No damage but I broke one of the hooks off a treble getting it out. No topwater catches but I did have two hits. I was using a Whopper Plopper 130 that I found last time out. I think I prefer the 90. Caught two on the jerkbait, two off a weightless Zoom Trick and one off a Siebert chatterbait. Which, unlike my first chatterbait catch a few weeks ago that was smashed on the cast, this one was a legit “bit on the retrieve” catch. It can be frustrating pulling algae off every 2nd or 3rd cast, but that’s a fun lure to fish!
  6. This season is starting to look promising for the Orioles. 20-9 is a darned good record for May 2nd. This is a fun team to watch!
  7. I was going to be an optimist, but I failed medical school!
  8. Some of the best draught beer I’ve ever had was in France. Grimbergen. That stuff was fantastique!
  9. My wife and oldest daughter are doing Amsterdam-Paris-London at the end of the month. My arms will be aching from paddling and casting when that week is over!
  10. Yanks at bottom of the AL East. What a way to end April!!!!
  11. Many years ago (early 80’s) my Army Reserve unit (Ft. Meade, MD) had summer camp supporting some huge training exercise in CA. We slept in tents adjacent to the runways of March AFB. Man, B-52’s and KC-135’s (with water injection) flying over your head constantly was not very conducive to sleeping!
  12. My 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 QC 4x4 with 177K is showing what 14 years of driving in winter and road salt will do to steel. But the drivetrain is perfectly sound and it still runs like a champ. No truck payment in over 13 years (bought in 2007 with only 19K on the odo) is a beautiful thing.
  13. I think my Falcon is better than my Dobyns (Lowrider vs Fury) at the same price point. The cork is infinitely better. I like them both but I’d give the nod to Falcon in this price range. No experience with rods of either costing less.
  14. Hit the pond yesterday as I anticipated bad weather today. Caught two dinks on a Zoom Trick. As Ma Nature lied to me again, I hit the pond again around 6:15. Nothing on a spinnerbait but algae, and had a couple misses and one lost bass on a Neko Macho TR. I tried a Senko TR with no bites so I swapped it out with a Fat IKA. Had a nibble than one bit. Another dink lol. It started getting dark as it was cloudy so after I cast it near a submerged tree, I thought “Well, that’s the last cast”. I started working it back and it stopped dead. It didn’t feel “brushy” so I set the hook. Not a big gal but man, what a fight! All the way from my left to the right, pulled drag a bit, headed into the weeds, jumped and did some head-shakin’. Good end to a short trip!
  15. hokie, that’s a nice bass! I bet that was a fun catch!
  16. Three games. One run given up. Unusual blown save by Bautista sets up the walk-off. Starting and relief pitching getting it done. Especially as run production dropped like a dead bird lol. A slim 0.5 game up for 2nd place in the AL East ahead of the Stankeys and Boo Jays. I’ll take it!
  17. I know, I know. But c’mon! The Dong Bong just sounds awesome! ? With a little better pitching, the O’s are contenders. That line-up puts runs on the board. Plus they walk frequently and steal bases with speed. They are an entertaining ballclub this year!
  18. Like both. Use both. Can’t imagine not using both. I tried fishing a WR with a baitcaster and I vastly prefer a spinning rig for that application. As well as weightless TR with Zoom Tricks, Senkos, etc. But…to each his own.
  19. Plug(archaic): formerly any hard bait Plug: what you use to recharge the battery in your new $97K pick-up that’s good to tow your bass boat 65 miles
  20. Hook sets with what bait/hook? If it’s a crank or jerk bait with trebles, I’d think you should be fine (unless you’re trying to set the hook with too much slack). If it’s a single hook like a TR, it may be the rod. You say it’s a medium (which is power). What’s the action?
  21. We can rebuild him. We have the technology! ?
  22. Too windy for my inflatable this morning, so I fished the bank. Nothing on a frog. Caught one on a Neko Macho TR, one on a spinnerbait, one on a jig-n-craw and two on a Rage Tail Craw TR. The one on the jig was a true dink. But as I rarely catch bass on jigs, I was happy with the catch. Same with the spinnerbait! The last bass on the Rage Craw TR smashed it as soon as it hit the water.
  23. I like a MF or a MLXF. My Bass-X is a MLXF. But it’s 6’10”. Works well out of my inflatable.
  24. The speed increase is great. The loss of acceleration in a yak is not a big deal. Sounds like it worked out magnificently!
  25. Well, let’s see. One rod, one reel. What’s my favorite way to fish? Easy-peasy. Texas rigs on the bottom. Simple choice. My Kistler Helium MH/F and a Daiwa Tatula 100H.
