  1. You should always have a full tank. When the zombie invasion starts, you don’t wanna be messin’ around the pump! ?
  2. The copperheads and coral snakes have been active awhile down here in SE Texas.
  3. My car (daily driver) gets the tank filled every time I refuel. Same with my wife’s SUV. My truck, which is a weekend warrior, gets a 1/2 tank when needed, unless I’m going a distance, then I’ll fill it.
  4. For barbecue? Negative. For corned beef? It’s actually pickled for 5-7 days and then simmered in the pickling until tender. You never bake/broil/roast/grill/smoke a brisket for corned beef. Unless you’re a heathen! ?
  5. Man. Thanksgiving isn’t Thanksgiving without a pot of sauerkraut with a piece of roasted port until the kraut turns brown. As far as “cost”, this reminds me of the talks I’ve had with my wife over the cost of steak. I’ll see a nice, well-marbled NY Strip for $17.00-$19.00 and she’ll say it’s too expensive. Then I’ll order a $42.00 steak at a steakhouse with no questions asked. Depending on appetite, you can make 2-4 sandwiches out of a pound of corned beef for $14.00/lb. That’s $3.50 to $7.00 a sandwich. A Reuben at the local Katz’s Deli is $13.99 with a pickle.
  6. I fly all the time (work for an airline). TSA Precheck is NOT a waste of time and money! Are you getting a full Brazilian? ?
  7. So I came home and smelled cabbage. I thought “Holy crap! The wife made corned beef and cabbage!” Nope. It was ham, cabbage, potatoes and green beans. TMI, I’m glad I looked over my post before submitting, as I omitted the word “home” in my first sentence. That’s something I’ve never heard before lol. Goes to show you we are not all the same!
  8. lol. Yeah, that was a bad combo there!
  9. Man, ever since I read this thread earlier today I’ve been beating my brains out trying to remember this particular brand of (I’m sure it was cheap) tequila. Back in the early 80’s my friends and I would go camping, and we’d take a bottle of this tequila and pour it into a jug of Sunny D and pass it around. We called it Tekillya. Ah, to be young and foolish! I was in a black bottle that had a textured exterior, and was a tall cylinder with a short neck. If you can remember the brand, I’d appreciate it before I end up in a sanitarium!
  10. I just to hunt like it was a religion, and rarely fish. Now I fish like a religion and last year didn’t hunt at all.
  11. If a Reuben sandwich counts, yes ? Not a huge corned beef and cabbage guy. But a Reuben, or just a corned beef and Swiss on rye with mustard? Absolutely!
  12. Guano, whether bat or seabird, was a prime source of potassium nitrate (saltpeter) back in the days of black powder, and for its source of nitrogen as fertilizer. Wars have been fought over it. https://thebreakthrough.org/articles/remember-the-guano-wars
  13. The only “Meat” I know of was in Porky’s. As this is a family-friendly site, I won’t mention why he got that nickname! ?
  14. I do much better with green pumpkin w/black flake than I do with straight green pumpkin. It’s not my choice. The bass have let me know!
  15. ?You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, well, you just might find, you get what you need? And what you don’t need is staggering credit card debt!
  16. I asked @WRB for advice and he suggested the Sunline Shooter Defier. That was enough to get me to try it. Glad I did!
  17. Haven’t used either but just started using Sunline Shooter Defier. It’s very supple and the 15 lb. is the same diameter as 12 lb. Big Game. it’s pricey. Have to see how long it lasts. But so far I like it. Haven’t used either but just started using Sunline Shooter Defier. It’s very supple and the 15 lb. is the same diameter as 12 lb. Big Game. it’s pricey. 19. No experience with the Expert. I really like my Lowrider MHF. it’s a well-made rod.
  20. I didn’t, but was a witness and it was hilarious. My friend and I were fishing just after ice-out below the second dam on Loch Raven reservoir in Maryland sometime in the late 70s. Nobody was catching a thing. There was a concrete culvert about 24” in diameter that emptied into the Big Gunpowder River and some little kid (fishing with his dad) kept casting his bait into the culvert (the culvert was about 75% under the surface). His dad was getting ticked and started berating him that he was wasting his time. The kid was adamant that there was a fish in there. He must have cast his bait 50 times and on Cast #51, his rod bent. Hard. He reeled in the largest black crappie I’ve ever seen. Like dinner plate-sized. Everybody came over to congratulate the kid…except his AITA dad. He was fuming. What a shame. But boy, did he catch a whopper in an unlikely spot!

  22. While I still plan on buying components and making weedless jigs ala @A-Jay design, in the interim I found these 1/4 oz. jigs with cone heads that I hope will keep out of the muck as much as possible.
  23. Absolutely. Outstanding Baltimore Bullet!
  24. I’m a 1/8 oz. and a 3/0 EWG on a Zoom Trick kinda guy. Or weightless. Weightless mostly. One of my favorite (and best) ways to fish.
