  1. Thanks for the heads up. I am using Mike McFarland and staying at the Burning Stump lodge. With ice up Mike said that our timing should be excellent for the spawn. He said expect rain.. and I hear you.. the fish will tell us being wet isn't all that bad LOL
  2. Got this off their site _ h 11-2021 SPRING FISHING CLASSIC March 11-31 DETAILS COMING SOON
  3. I saw this and thought I could do it on football jigs
  4. How many of you use a snell knot or uni knot to tie hooks to your lines. I use to use the clinch and improved clinch knot but found the uni knot to be more reliable and I have been thinking about using the snell knot for jigs.
  5. I can tell you all heat ain't all that! Summers here run 110-120 and fishing is early early morning to mid morning June - Sept. I don't know why you VA folks complain, I lived in VA for 10 years around Herndon/Reston and Charlottesville and that was awesome. Winter was only a blink of the eye, spring and fall were gorgeous and summer was tolerable, especially if you were out fishing. A Job brought me to AZ and I became a desert rat and can bass fish locally on a couple of reservoirs, but travel to do some real serious bass fishing.. My personal best was at Sugar Lake Mexico ( 10Lbs 8oz) .... it is Lake Fork, TX this year and maybe Clear Lake CA in the fall.
  6. The closest lake is about 30 miles, but if you cast more than 50 feet from April to December you'll likely catch a jet ski or wakeboard with a very unhappy person on-board. This occurs 7 days a week...Ugh Living in the desert we have reservoirs, For numbers its about 55 miles (an hour and 15 minutes) and for size its about a 110 miles ( 2 hours) But I can do it 12 months a year, just need to watch for monsoons and high winds. Summers it is on the water by 5 and off by noon, being retired makes this very possible Tues -Thursday. I'm really jealous of some of you with variety and numbers of spots... but happy wife .. happy life..Yes I wear the pants in the family.... she just tells me when to put them on
  7. It might be an over filled spool combined with line twist. this may help
  8. Ultra vibe is a bit smaller and I see less action than a Rage Craw. When you fish the Ultra vibe slowly for cold water it doesn't give off as much movement as Rage.
  9. Depending on water temp - Rage Craw or Zoom Speed Craw
  10. Here is another of Country Music's Ladies
  11. Glad that album led you to these ladies and C&W music... I was a devoted Doo *** and Great American Songbook fan until I discovered C&W. Now I like all of them equally. If you like A cappella music listen to Homefree.
  12. That is a great catch!
  13. Getting up early enough to make safelight at the lake (103 miles from home) and waiting for my fishing buddy to show up. After waiting about an half an hour getting a phone call he over slept and will be here in 45 minutes. Then we get to the lake and the ramp is crowded and he needs a potty stop. This has happened a couple of times. Once we get on the water and start fishing all is forgiven, we enjoy fishing together, we know when to talk and when to be quiet.
  14. Thanks folks.. We were able to book for April 5th - 9th (6th through 8th with a guide) and we're hoping for the best. Our first E Texas trip. The guide gave us the same clothing options.. snow suits to flip flops and rain gear.. sounds like it might be a little unpredictable..LOL
  15. For me it starts the night before getting all my "toys" ready, making sure I have the gear, cigars and lunch packed and made. Getting up the next morning and getting to the water just as the sun comes up, throwing the first cast and spending the next few hours fishing and catching. Even if the catching isn't great, the experience always is, fish generally don't live in ugly places. I'm fortunate because I can do this 12 months of the year.
  16. Thanks Troxbox, I'll do that if we wind up heading there. ?
  17. Nothing but good wishes and I'll keep you in my prayers
  18. So if I point my truck/boat straight South and don’t stop for 17 hours and 10 minutes I’ll be there. And leave this ?!? Ha! Wow what is that white stuff, we don't get that here in Phoenix! but then again I haven't seen any 13 pounders taken here either. Might pay to point the truck and boat towards Texas LOL
  19. Wow that is some lunker... ? I'll look into Rayburn, thank you for the tip. I have a fishing partner I need to share this with, we need to make a decision soon.
  20. Thanks.. I assume there is some size to those guys to with a 40lbs bag!!
  21. I've got a Pflueger President 2000 that is smooth, light and has seen its share of use. I use it on my ultra light and light rods.
  22. I use 30# braid to 10,12 or 15# leader. Not the other way around. I would be curious to see test results on the uni to uni, FG and Crazy Alberto with 30# braid to 12# leader (mono or floro). I also Drop shot with 30# braid (PP Slick)) an 6# floro, the 30# doesn't dig into itself. I currently use uni to uni and I'm trying out Crazy Alberto. No failures yet.
  23. I am planning a spring fishing trip to Lake Fork, but a friend of mine was told that the hot spot is Choke Canyon. Can you help me make an informed choice before I commit to a location, guide and lodging. Thanks everyone.
  24. 9.. I can relate.. Here's on for the Googan Squad
  25. Here's something we can all relate to..
