  1. I treat fall fishing like "Opposite Day"
  2. One more BR member to whisper words of success on the next hookset! Great day, Congrats
  3. It's as fun as playing hockey. It's great to be a kid.
  4. I love minimalist fishing. I overspend on rubber boots. I can fish deep or shallow or shelves from the bank, boat or wading. I fall in the river often and occasionally flip arse over tee kettle I've lose most of my lures on the backcast. I use braid to leader for everything I break 1 or 2 rods a year atleast. Reading water is everything on the river. I fished way too much in the past 5 years. I just finished a 2 yr stretch of catching atleast 1 fish per outing. Last 2 times I went fishing I got skunked. I'm not going fishing again until I get some good news.
  5. I left a spook hanging in a tree once. I wasn't using it anymore
  6. I didnt see one but here is what I found
  7. Alternate to the Kreature Zoom brush hog Strike King game hawg Reaction Innovations man bear pig
  8. Looked up TOXIC's recommendations for rigging. Hoping to improve my rigging technique.
  9. Let's be fair, these are Yamamoto baits. If there anything like senkos then 2 fish is better than (my) average.
  10. 1 rod and a hip pack that holds all my terminal tackle, spare line, pliers and some lures. Oh and a whiskey flask.
  11. On the river I'm probably trying different wts. So a split shot rig until I figure it out, then probably a texas rig
  12. Youtube channel Haru834
  13. I use a larger size reel because they typically have more line pickup. It matters to me when I'm casting up river and want to burn it back with the current.
  14. It's expensive. If it can float a hockey puck it's the real thing
  15. I tie my own hair jigs from 3/16 to 1/16 oz. I use spinning gear with 8# to 12# mono or fluoro on an oversized reel with 7' to 6' mlf to a lf. I've been tempted to pick up a new 7' Curado light fast. I prefer shorter rods than most people. I place alot of importance on accuracy.
  16. Moon fazes are something of a trigger for wildlife in general, smallies seem to move with that trend.
  17. Hair jigs on the river are fantastic. I slow reel them just off bottom and normally quarter downstream. It's hard not to twitch and pump them on the retrieve but somehow those big bass find them.
  18. In my area (Ontario) I find it starts soon after the first full moon in September and a weeklong temperature drop of say 10 degrees.
  19. Sounds like the OP has experience with LMB but caught smallie fever. For smallies I fishing a shallow (avg 2' - 5' depth) river and I'm looking for rocky shelves, undercut banks and current seems. I most often use light wire hooks. They can be bent out when you snag them but a 4# smallie will occasionally bend me out or rub me off. I keep my drag at 1 5# to 2# and I always let them make their initial surges but I dont let them get into cabbage or behind boulders. It's a balance. I use 15# braid to a 12# mono leader
  20. I usually tie my lure with a Uni knot and I normally dont need to trim any excess.
