  1. Colder water temps slow the plastics too. I wish I could tell you for sure but I will say that in the cold water a black maribou jig is deadly so I tend to leave the rage tails for summer
  2. I must admit that I do better in clear water on my river.
  3. I should fish the ned more
  4. I fish a "smaller" river and rarely go deeper than 7' and it's very rocky, lots of boulders. I can't fish a ned or dropshot and in current a WW is no more effective than a Texas worm. For me its 1. Split shot worm 2. Tube 3. Jig w/ trailer
  5. In weeds the original Power Pro does a better job of cutting & ripping thru, but it's not the best in timber.
  6. The Miravel is very smooth like it's not in your hand smooth. It's worth the $40 extra to me. Love my BGs but they probably dont balance as well with a Victory
  7. 1.5# drag for me. Yesterday I had a 6-6 lite fast rod and a 1/0 ewg into an 18 1/4" smallie out of 3 fow. That's my PB on a lite rod.
  8. The Fall Bite I'm river fishing in Ontario, drifting a stick bait in pools. My 5th cast and I'm wondering if I need to change my cadence so I reel in about 7' of line till I can see the worm there in the water. Before I can think to reel in again an 18" smallie shoots out and engulfed my worm. Fight was on. I had a 6-6 stC TRS66LF2, and a 1/0 ewg light wire hook. He had a bad attitude and rubbed my line on every rock he could get to. Great time of year to fish. But will it beat the prespawn bite?
  9. For river smallies If its windy then a 110 or 135 WPlopper in bone or black. I dont think the bass care but I can spot them easier on the water. If its slick calm then a Super Spook jr in clear for a bluebird sky, black for clouds and otherwise white. For weeds/lillypads I like a Booyah Padcrasher in white. For river current I have been throwing a weightless fluke twitched on the surface and it's done well. Last choice would be a PopR in white
  10. Spinning. Skip that senko where ever/whenever
  11. Pattern lately has been deep pools (+4 fow) with boulders and just up river of shallow rapids. Baitfish patterns drifted. Using hi vis braid to line watch and setting hook on anything "different"
  12. I havent caught a 5# smallie out of my river in the last five years. Out of maybe 1.5k smallies. But d**n a 4# smallie in current on a spinning setup is a huge rush.
  13. Okay, so today its mid summer weather, blue bird sky and no wind. Smallies were schooled up in 4 fow and they were hungry. Is this the fall bite?
  14. It's a good day when I catch more fish than lures I lost.
  15. If I know the fish are there I start swapping lures. Sometimes I think it's too often but it's the fastest and most certain way of changing 'the bite'
  16. A heavy jig, stroke a tube or a jigging spoon.
  17. I start off with a 6' leader (just a bit shorter than my rod) but retying, bite offs and snags shorten it up. Sometimes I end the day throwing st8 braid to topwater
  18. Yes, I fish a low and clear river in bright sunny conditions. And I use hi vis braid to a mono leader that can be as short as 12". Its risky I know.
  19. I'm fishing for river smallies. Barometric pressure counts for more than wind. Wind will determine how I set up to cast into an area but current trumps wind
  20. I guess it comes down to trust. To me, Glenn has been a straight shooter.
