  1. Should add that I'm looking for something I can rig weedless Those are what I've used so far. Just looking around to see what similar options are recommended in that style. Definitely will give those a try
  2. Can anyone recommend some non-screw lock fixed heads for fishing soft plastics? Looking for something all-purpose/not finesse that I can use in place of a texas rig.
  3. I don’t throw hard baits much anymore, but I have quite a few pretty slick customs, mostly DT-6.
  4. Yeah I don’t get this. I had bottom of the line Abu stuff (RevoX/vendetta) and I preferred it over my Tatula combo. Their reels are a little heavy, about the only complaint I can see that holds much weight based on my experiences. I haven’t had a chance to fish it but my veritas TX/Revo stx combo looks/feels amazing.
  5. Anything pure fishing is amazing. Fenwick, Abu, etc. Tried to deal with Daiwa once but you have to mail the rod back just to get it checked. Fwiw, warrantied an Abu Vendetta ($79.99) casting rod last spring. Out of stock at the time so after a couple months they sent me a Veritas ($99.99) instead. Wasn't a fan of the white and never really used it, so when they released their Veritas Tournament series ($169.99) I inquired with them and explained the situation and asked if I could swap out the white Veritas for the new one, and I would pay the difference. They sent the rod, didn't make me pay the difference, and told me to keep the other one as well. On top of all that, the original issue with the vendetta was just with the tip eye. I replaced it, and now have 3 nice Abu Garcia rods for the low price of $79.99.
  6. My favorite thing about fishing is getting away from people and that noone can come talk to me while I'm on my boat.... to each their own I guess...
  7. Vendetta spinning rod with a Revo SX for neds Falcon Pitchin Stick with a Revo SX for jigs/frogs Veritas TE rod (FREE!!) with a Revo STX to upgrade my chatterbait setup My old chatterbait setup will handle keitech's and small jigs next year- I sold a few things collecting dust so my out of pocket expense was minimal. Only problem is winter hasn't even started yet.....
  8. I laughed all the way through this thinking "we are the same". Then I got to the last sentence and realized, no, we are not the same...
  9. who could do such a thing and still sleep at night?
  10. Baby Squadron is my pick for 3.3" - don't go any smaller than that though
  11. However far south I'd have to go in February for my son's birthday
  12. I don't like the Keitech's for chatterbaits... much prefer something like a Zako or Swimon
  13. Hammer them every time.... I've never fallen over though. It's not theatrics, just instinct... more often than not I'll give a secondary smaller tug after the initial WHAM just to make sure. Edit: hooksets to me are something that gets over thought. Even when I used to fish crankbaits more I wasn't gentle at all and I never used anything lighter than a standard medium heavy fast stick.
  14. I love the deep throat hook on the dredge jigs The profile on Mike's jigs are great as well, you can pretty much trim them up any way you like. I've use a big trailer with a full skirt all the way to a trimmed up finesse jig with a chunk trailer...
  15. I haven't found a spot yet that I CANT throw a chatterbait.. they don't exist. It might not be easy and it might be risky, but you can do it...
  16. I just want the weedguard! I prefer chatterbaits then I don't have to worry about carrying/throwing crankbaits and spinnerbaits in my mind it replaces both..
  17. I've definitely had more success with darker blades as opposed to the flashy ones, but I haven't noticed a change in catch rate once the black ones start chipping. I would imagine it's black because it's carbon fiber, I don't know what would be underneath it that would chip?
  18. If I were to do the most logical thing, that would be a great solution.... or even a spinnerbait.... but I love chatterbaits and don't like to put it down..
  19. If it looks like the fish are in the wood, I'm throwing that sucker in there- just figured one with a weedguard would be better than one without in that case. Great info overall, thanks!
  20. I've been a religious Jackhammer thrower since I discovered them, but Matt Allen mentioned the Picasso chatterbaits as a viable option since they've figured out a way to directly attach the head to the blade. I'm especially intrigued because they have a few models with weedguards, which could be really valuable for me trying to fish these expensive baits around wood. I'm eyeing the carbon fiber one that's about to be released, but does anyone have experience with the original heavy cover version?
  21. I’d prefer the shortest leader possible to be honest, but wasn’t sure how short I could go without putting too much stress on the knot when setting the hook
  22. Thanks- sounds like I need to work on my knot then
  23. Straight fluoro is certainly preferable, but it's going to be a jig and frog rod. Definitely need the braid for Frogs, could probably get by with straight braid for jigs but wanted to try it with a leader too...
