  1. Yeah, that's the problem I'm running into. I basically want a jig and chatterbait in my hand at all times, with a finesse option and a "seasonal" option. It's tough putting a jerkbait and a frog in the same spot- and I understand it's a long ways from an optimal setup for jerkbaits but I guess I'd prefer that setup to be able to handle the frog and anything else is just a bonus..
  2. So I'd be picking the head shape based on which structure I'll be throwing the jig in. You can swim them all...
  3. So I have come to the conclusion that I can work with about 4 setups max. My boat, my mind, and my budget don't allow me to have more than that. I've got 3 medium heavy casting setups and 1 medium spinning setup. Of the 3 casting setups, I'd say one is true to spec, one is a bit more moderate, and one is closer to a heavy action. With all that considered, how would you deploy this system? Is there something you'd always have tied on? Are there baits you might think of using in place of another 2-3 baits to make things easier? The thing I think the most about, are there bait combinations you'd avoid simply because it would feel like overkill? Along those lines, my mindset is to avoid having a chatterbait and spinnerbait tied on at the same time, or a crankbait and a chatterbait, or a jig/craw and a tube. Thoughts? This is my initial plan: MH1- Crankbait, Frog, Jerkbait, Swimbait MH2- Jig MH3- Chatterbait/Spinnerbait S1- Ned, Tube, worm
  4. There are endless options out there for jigs that excel at both flipping and swimming.... I don't understand why anyone would carry separate jigs for both...
  5. You better shut your mouth before I shut it for ya ?
  6. I really like the squadron heads and use the baby for 3.3” and the regular for 4.3” . They are pretty cheap too. I don’t like the way either fit on a 3.8, but that’s probably a me thing.
  7. My real issue is finding a decently priced Swimbait head in a solid green Pumpkin color…. They all seem to gravitate towards Shad colors..
  8. It’s still fun to do though!
  9. I think the skirt looks like a green Pumpkin - it looks like all the heads are black on this model.
  10. I’d bet it’s just the dark green Pumpkin model even tho it looks brown in the pic
  11. I’m biased against Senkos because I don’t like napping when I fish
  12. Haven’t tried these yet, but are they any longer than the squadrons? I haven’t found a great match for 3.8’s yet!
  13. Strike King Baby Squadron heads are pretty cheap, fit 3.3” Keitech perfectly, and have a heavier hook. I use them on MH casting gear and come in 3/16 and 5/16.
  14. That's a tremendous line of thinking and exactly what I was looking for...
  15. I have spent a lot of time this winter looking at various jig/trailer combos and how they look as they settle on the bottom. What I've found is that the majority of trailers, regardless of what head you use will generally just settle on the bottom or roll over even. For example, no matter what head I use a Rage Craw won't really pop up in a defensive posture regardless of the jighead. This has obviously caught fish since the beginning of time, so not really an issue. However, I've been testing some Z-Man craws and Xzone plastics recently and these are the only ones discovered that will rest with the trailer off the bottom at all. In certain combinations, an Xzone trailer will settle and rest slightly off the ground in what I would call a "perfect" attack position and the floating claws help the jig from rolling over. Another thing I noticed that mostly with the Zman plastics, but also with the Xzone ones on certain jigs that have lighter hooks, that trailer and jig will stand straight up and down where it's pretty much vertical. At first I though, wow thats neat but as I thought about it more it's probably unnatural for it to be that extreme. That would be a presentation that I'd like to see on like a ned worm, but not so sure about a jig. Would you take this info into consideration at all when selecting a jig/trailer combo? Would one of these 3 "presentation" styles fair better or would they all have their place on a certain day? Has anyone else ever looked at this?
  16. I don't know how early I started fishing, but I moved past panfish pretty quick.. We used to hit the river with my grandpa and he would always throw lindy rigs by the dam for walleyes. Even as a 7 year old I found that incredibly lame and was throwing spinnerbaits even though there wasn't a bass within 500 yards probably...
  17. Settle down Glenn…. It’s just a joke This
  18. How to fish a ned rig from the bank, brought to you live from... a boat
  19. When I go on tackle warehouse and select "crankbaits", scroungers and chatterbaits don't show up anywhere. It would show you exactly what you would think a crankbait would be, lipped diving crankbaits and lipless crankbaits.
  20. I feel the same way, and as a result I don’t think I’ve tied on a crankbait once the last two seasons despite having a wide array of custom painted beauties that I feel guilty for not using.
  21. Most rods and reel went up 20% in the last few weeks, so I don’t think that’s a Fenwick or HMG thing on its own. I was looking at the 6’ Medium models at the store the other day, they had both iterations. The new model is listed as 1/8 oz-3/4 oz vs 1/4-3/4 on the old one. The new model felt a little better in my hands and a bit livelier tip. The old one looked better, such a classic, but the new ones fine too. If I bought one of these two I’d go with the new model and just handling them in the store I’d probably be okay with the $20 increase even if everything else wasn’t skyrocketing. However, once you get into that 120 range I feel like your better off finding a 15% off somewhere and looking in the $160 range since you only spend a few bucks more for a much better setup.
  22. Sure except neither of those are crankbaits. I think anything you’d need to do to an actual crankbait to make it weedless would affect the action too much…
  23. It’s not the cold that’s a problem it’s the ice
  24. Im so jealous… I haven’t caught a fish in around 3 months…
