  1. @Joedodge injuries don’t magically heal if you keep exacerbating the problem. I had to take time off from fishing in 2022-2023 due to a shoulder injury. It helped me recover. I was able to learn a lot about the rotator cuff. Side note: for any activity that involves repeated throwing, casting, swimming or other similar motions, I highly recommend paying attention to the health and strength of your rotator cuff. There are several muscles involved.
  2. This is the best reason to consider a break
  3. @Glenn covered it.
  4. One thing I noticed being in the boat with Pat Brown is his pace with a buzzbait for covering water is very fast. Trolling motor is on high. He reels slow, but he covers a wide area with just a few casts. If he gets a bite or really likes an area he may slow down. It is worth paying attention to Pat with a buzzbait because he tends to catch more buzzbait fish than most on this site.
  5. @FishNTexan I had the pleasure of fishing Lake Fork one weekend for a tournament with some prefishing time. I agree with a 4.5 star assessment. Extremely pressured, but the quality of fish is still everywhere there. It’s a fun lake to fish with a wide variety of cover and structure.
  6. 8:37 for me
  7. Clean water I like a watermelon type deal or brown living rubber. Dirty water I like black living rubber or black with some accents.
  8. Since there is no member status section, I figured I’d drop a note. Due to recent life developments, I am packing up my fishing stuff. I don’t anticipate to wet a line for a good bit. Nothing is wrong. Look for about 2026.
  9. I give Stillhouse Hollow in Central Texas ⭐⭐⭐⭐. Let's start with the pros and then we'll hit cons. Pros: Great access. There are six different parks accessible from a kayak across 6,429 acres. Hydrilla and standing timber No homeowner docks Clear water Night fishing anytime. Just have to be in before the gates close on most parks. Good scenery of limestone bluffs, especially around Dana Peak Park Smallmouth and largemouth Known to hold decent numbers of 6-10lb bass Cons: Fishes really small at times. Most good spots and areas are community holes. This lake does get plenty of pressure and the fish see well in the sometimes ultra-clear water. Being in Texas, if you want a 13+lb share lunker, this is not the place to go. Water fluctuations are crazy. Let's take a look at a historical chart of the water level here. It's good. I do not give Stillhouse Hollow 5 stars because there are better lakes in Texas farther away. I have fished Stillhouse for about 2 years. After 2 years, I have explored and fished nearly every corner of this over 6000 acre lake in a kayak. I am on my way out of here soon, so if anyone has questions about this lake, I am more than happy to share information including some of my best fishing spots.
  10. I don’t like jigs on muck bottom. An 1/8oz Texas jig creature does much better for me
  11. I really struggle with jerkbaits and spooks and I’ve spent a lot of time with both. I’ve had very little, sporadic success with both. A problem I have with jerkbaits and pretty much all treble hook lures is I’m reckless and like to throw everything around wood.
  12. Lighter flatter plastics on spinning tackle skip easy Jigs and most anything with a baitcaster requires more skill. Some spinnerbaits do skip. A flatter head, a flatter trailer, and less blades help, but it is definitely harder. A Zorro short arm with a beefy flat trailer skips better than most spinnerbaits I’ve tried. Impossible to skip? An Alabama rig maybe
  13. Different bodies of water set up differently geologically and geographically. Bass and other gamefish respond in kind - learning to adapt to their environment. Bass do not all behave the same. Not even in the same lake. There are ‘individuals’. I also believe bass in the northern part of the US trend more aggressive.
  14. That’s patience and peace you can’t buy. I know exactly what you mean
  15. Right on @Bluebasser86 I want to be you when I grow up
  16. I like a ribbontail really good. I start throwing a big one around April here. It’s good for months before it hits July and all of a sudden people start thinking they need to start throwing big worms. This summer, I’m noticing they like a straight tail profile a little better where I am. Mag 2 and ol monster are my favorites.
  17. Only you can decide for yourself if fishing is worth your time and energy
  18. We've got current running again, so I revisited this thread. I want to engage some specifics that @Woody B offered. What is a "BUNCH?" My home lake is currently pulling 1600 cfs. I lack experience and knowledge to understand how much current this is. Is it fair to say that while the generators are active and the water is warm/hot, you want to fish closer in proximity to the channel? This may be a timely thread since I suspect many anglers are faced with lakes currently pulling water.
  19. Me watching @Pat Brown fishing a hybrid hunter
