baitcaster bearing upgrade
jeronimo, The reels are so new that no one can give a real honest assessment of them. Why would you want to change out bearings on an already great running reel? Tight Lines!!!!

broken rod
Depending on the rod's main usage, with a broken tip section you can just replace the tip with a tiptop replacement kit and reuse the rod just for cat's. It will change the tip action, if the rod had a fast tip it will change the action to extra fast and so on. If this rod was one that you used for bass then, I would recommend that you replace the rod. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!

my old daiwa screams like a wookiee
skunked_again, Then anything in the 5.1:1 range was high speed...You don't need bearings for that reel, all you need to do is remove and replace the spool shaft end shims, and clean and re-lube the spool support bearings... Good Luck & Tight lines!!!!

Baitcast casting help!
Schaefer, Real good suggestions here. But Catt said it best, you need to have the reel setup right.... If you don't have a good balance between the setup of the reel, and the rod, line, lure ratings your using, nothing you do will help your casting. The proper setup must come first. Basic Baitcast Reel Setup 101 Plus lots of practice, practice, practice! Oh did I mention you need to practice... Just my .02¢ Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

help with feeding line onto reel
No problem, spool the reel using the slight tension you get from the book, and don't worry about the article on the baitcaster. Set your reels drags to 1/3 the test weight of the line.Good Luck & Tight lines!!!

help with feeding line onto reel
Place the line coming from the filler spool through the pages of a heavy book for tension, and keep it there until you have filled the spool. Then when you get ready to setup the reel to cast your lure, read this it will help..Basic Baitcast Reel Setup 101 Good Luck & Tight Lines

Daiwa Zillion maintenance
To open the side plate, loosen the screw head at the magnetic adjustment dial and twist the side plate up or down (not sure), and this will expose the spool and spool brake blocks, you can now remove the spool. If you have never opened a baitcaster before don't open the crank side plate, refer to your manual for basic maintenance for your reel. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Reel Value
alabamabassman, Like Cart7, that reel looks to be in A1 condition, thus the reason for the high bid. Probably a few collectors driving the price up. For an angler using the reel day to day, I wouldn't pay over $60, just to bulky and heavy. One other point, they aren't as extra smooth as has been hyped in that e-bay write up. Just my .02¢ Tight Lines!!!

I got my free bag from All Star!!
Shakespeare and Pflueger are the same company and they purchased AllStar rods. Probably the reason for the bag switch. Just like when Shimano purchased G-Loomis. Tight Lines All!!!!

Shimano Core
I sure don't, At $350.00 MSRP do you have one? In what way?
-
Reel Value
$146.95? that's pretty high for a reel, I still love the TD2HI reel. For a TD2HI Tourny Series Reel in excellent shape, what would you pay for it today? $146.00 back then wasn't much for one of Daiwa's cadillacs. Today (because the reel has been discontinued) I wouldn't pay more than $60.Tight Lines!!!

Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Who Knows about this one?
The work sheets I have on it.. Garcia Axxar 500 series Bait Caster, circulated 2004. It is a typical 5000 series round reel. Not real sure on the GR I would suspect around 5.4:1 but not much over that... Garcia® Schematics Tight Lines!!!!
