Is Something Wrong With My Baitcaster?
Well you are wrong.... The AR (one way bearing) never gets packed (with anything)...... That bearing pack gets cleaned, and, very lightly oiled (use an oil soaked q-tip to lightly swab the interior of the bearing pins) only... Tight Lines!

Is Something Wrong With My Baitcaster?
The AR (one way bearing) never gets packed (with anything)...... That bearing pack gets cleaned, and, very lightly oiled (use an oil soaked q-tip to lightly swab the interior of the bearing pins) only... You would do better having the reel properly serviced..... Tight Lines!

Reel Maintenance?
Reel Oil, as stated it is an oil made/bottled for reels.Reel Lube, IMO is both reel oil and reel gear grease bundled under the same header. Remember; light oil for bearing packs and line carriage/worm gear. Gear Grease for internal gears. Always flush old grease/oils before adding anything. New lube (any) over old, doesn't do any good.... Tight Lines!

Wow Flushing Bearings Really Works!!!

Thats good, Mike (DVT) has a great offer for members here. Pluse there are a few others that can help you out.IMPO I would just fish the daylights out of the reel then send it in for a proper cleane up, then, you mantain what the pro's have done.. Tight Lines!!!

Reel Maintenance?
IMPO no you won't.That video is nothing more than one of a hundred remakes of the standard service video that Shimano (no complete break down) has on line. Never use a Q-tip on the worm gear, with the super sharp edges of the gear cut the q-tip will leave fluf/fibers that will foul it sooner or later. Using that large bottle of reel oil the yourker cap allows to much oil to flow and isn't controled. The bearing were not cleaned/flushed and wipe downs don't do it all..

Darwin Award For Reel Maitnence
This is a spinning reel I assume "bail assembly".. You probably have the antireverse stack behind the rotor stacked with the small white tab in the wrong place. I would recommend that you open the reels schematic and look at the AR assemblies stacking and placement. Your guessing at the problem when you aren't using the reels schematic for maintenance.. If you don't have a copy of the schematic, post the model number or send me an email with it, and, I will send you the schematic by return email. Good Luck & Tight Lines!...

Dumb Question About Drag
IMPO if you are setting drags at 1/4 of line test, your setting to light.... On an outing I will pre set all my rigs drags to 1/3 of line strength, and adjust by hand as needed...... One thing to remember is the OLD school style of adding drag by laying the thumb on the spool during fish fighting (feathering)..... Tight Lines!......

Curado 200E5 Problem
The Redundant AR dog is were the sound is coming from. We have had many conversations with anglers that want to run their reels without, because they say it smooths the crank out in it's feel. Understanding the reason the piece is there is important........... As you increase drag you increase reverse pressure on the AR bearing pack and sleave, if the AR bearing fails on a high pressure fight, the redundant AR dog keeps the crank from turning in reverse and possibly losing a good fish or even worse breaking fingers. The fix is as stated by Mike...

Can Guides On Baitcast Rod Be Changed?
Yes it can be done....But when done will cost you more than the purchase of a micro guide rod off of the rack...
