  1. A MH wouldn't make it a finesse setup. It's just choosing spinning over casting at that point.
  2. I've never felt what tip heavy is supposed to feel like. I also don't get worn out because something weighs 4.2oz instead of 4oz. I'm still trying to figure out what kind of humans notice "tip heavy" and experience fatigue over a fraction of an ounce. Most bizarre thing in bass fishing when talking gear. Maybe if the good Lord allows me to become 80 it'll be something I notice then.
  3. My list of impressive soft plastics is way too massive. So I'll tell you one that ticks me off: Zoom Flukes. It seems impossible to get a pack that isn't half junked with twisted, bent tails and bent noses. It's called clamshell, people.
  4. That's the most obnoxious and irritating part of people knowing you're really into bass fishing. They just expect you to be successful every trip without understanding it's not always that easy and many different factors come into play. Hell I've had people assume I should be catching bass every cast or every few minutes. And when these things don't happen, you get the smart remarks. Of course sometimes you can look like a god too because of those very factors these people don't understand.
  5. Contrary to popular belief, our northern water can be every bit as heavily vegetated as southern water. And let me tell you, the weeds still come back every year, sometimes heavier than before. The fairy wand idea people have of the north stems from the Greak Lakes smallmouth fishing primarily.
  6. I just bought TW out of some 6th Sense jigs in certain colors and weights. Those specific ones are backordered until June and July now. Good Lord, please don't let 2021 shape up to be anything remotely similar to 2020 with things backordered to hell and nothing in stock. I fear what the shelves are going to look like when things heat up in the spring. That's why I've gone bonkers this winter more than anything. I was pretty screwed last year on many baits and terminal tackle and even some line.
  7. Whatever that bone is in the body that cripples a man from failure, I ain't got it.
  8. I'd much rather catch my son watching a bass fisherman with a beer on deck and a smoke in his mouth than catch one of my girls watching that rap/hip hop/stripper dance/booty shaking/sexual lyrics garbage they marked towards kids these days. I caught my pre teen daughter watching some music awards where one of the trashy singers thanked God for her award for a song about her wet genitals. OFF NOW!!!! couldn't come out of my mouth fast enough
  9. My trip to ALF today... Winter needs to hurry up and leave and take the monkey with it before my woman murders me. I promised to be better this winter... Maybe next.
  10. Took the 2 hour drive down to ALF. I ended up pairing the Kaden 715C with a Lews Tournament MP. They were out of the Tatula 150s. That's fine with me though because what attracts me to Lews how nice they are to palm. Plus the red accents of the reel match the red accents of the rod. Bonus! I didn't realize ALF was only doing curbside and for orders placed online. But the employee at ALF was so awesome that he let me inside and took my order right then and there. When he discovered their website was wrong and they did not in fact have Tatula 150s, he took me back into the warehouse to look over all the reels and make a decision. 10/10 service. I'll try to order as much as I can from ALF instead of going to TW first. The city of Evansville gets a 1/10, though. They clearly boomed and failed to adjust. That's the most horrendous traffic I've ever experienced. Worse than Chicago even. Pics later in the recent purchases thread.
  11. I've gotta say, there's a lot in life I didn't and still don't know how to do, but sticking things in holes never eluded me.
  12. A lot of the time with a spinning reel you're paying for longevity and drag (superior, consistent, and much less likely to fail).
  13. I'm going to pick up a 5 power Kaden today. This will primarily be for 1/2-3/4oz jigs, heavy Texas Rigs, pitching/punching, (very occasional) frogging, and heavy chatterbaits with bigger trailers. But *primarily the jigs/t-rigs/pitching/punching. I'm a Lews guy but want to try more Daiwa offerings. (Not willing to spend more)
  14. Filling your spool properly and reeling slower is an option too.
  15. Several. I'm not talking about a one time event. I also think you're right about them being angry rather than hungry, but whether they bite because I tick them off or because I fooled their hungry stomachs, it doesn't matter to me.
  16. I think the difference is small body vs big body of water anglers. I fish almost entirely small water. The bass see the same thing day in and day out when the water is soft. Probably why I hate spinnerbaits too, the kale of bass fishing around here.
  17. When I fish a popular bass color, I always make sure there's AT LEAST a secondary color not so popularly used. Everyone throws a GP/GP with black fleck. Some people will tell you that bass don't become conditioned or trained but for me that goes in one ear and out the other because of my own personal verifiable evidence on the water.
  18. I've thrown the same lure to the same spot more than 20 times before I finally got bit. Maybe I'm hard headed but I think my willingness to do so picks up fish others leave behind.
  19. You seem very unhappy with this reel.
  20. Absolutely no issue with owning a plethora of Dobyns
  21. Does it have something to do with them being really shut down in a bad winter from the bitter cold and thus absolutely starving more than usual when it warms up?
  22. Holy cockroaches and disease. Someone get the gasoline and matches.
