i learned there are more species of fish i want to concentrate on besides the largemouth such as smallmouth and walleye. I also learned i dont need expensive rods to catch big fish. My $9.99, $19.99 and $79.00 rods proved it. Learned i dont need a boat or a kayak, just a honda civic that gets 39 mpg, a pair of waders and my gps. These 3 items keep me mobile and able to pick up and leave quick and on to the next spot.

i went shopping for food yesterday and as usual so many younger people wreaked of a freshley smoked joint. I did the same when i was in high school so i shoudnt be surprised. I quit smoking pot in the 80,s and havnt had a beer or alcohol drink since july of 2018.

I just purchased the shakesphere Micro Series rod in 7 ft lite and used it at the dam last week. I bought it at fleetfarm for $19.95 and went to wallmart the other day and they have it for $16.99. I bought this for casting lite lures across the river at the dams and it exceeded my needs. I dont mind that winter is here in minn to give me a 4 1/2 month break. If i wanted to i coud go to the big dam throughout winter and walleye fish but i dont enjoy fishing in windy freezing temps. I am just hoping we get alot of snow. I just finished cleaning my reels yesterday. Next i will put new braid on all the reels. I will make alot of snelled stupid tube jigs with tube on and ready to snap on my line and throw. Will make up about 15 of them to start out with using various jig weights and tube colors. Also this winter i will drive about 1 to 1 1/2 hrs to check out all the dams i have loaded onto my gps to put my eyes on the surroundings. I checked a couple out tuesday when we went fishing and all are know for smallmouth along with walleye. I am looking ahead to next spring as i am planning to fish dams for smallmouth because i want a challenge away from largemouth in the lakes. This fish i caught in a sandy rocky culvert under the highway is what turned me on to seeking out brownies.

I was stationed in adak alaska during the 83 series. Friends and i went trout fishing to a creek that sunday and i was determinded to listen to the game on armed forces radio network. We trudged 2 miles to the creek walking on soft wet tundra all the while i was carrying my 80,s boombox listening to the game. I was estatic when they won while my friends couldnt understand why i was going nuts with joy. Losing the 79 series to the pirates just killed me as a teenager so this 83 series wiped all that away.

weather map shows 47 and sunny for tuesday in ottertail county in Minn. My new winter fishing pattern will be to go dam fishing only if the weather hits 50 with light winds, 47 is close enough.

my new favorite bait this fall was the zoom super fluke 5.25" long. Now i need to buy some super fluke jr,s they are 4" or maybe get some Strike King 3X ElazTech Baby Z Too, they are 3.50".

Thats a very nice looking oriole. As a lifetime oriole fan its just a big downer with the birds. With a lockout coming this spring i dont know if i will live to see the orioles win another world series or break 80 wins in a season.

Transparent light blue top with transparent bottom half. I took a kevin van dam gold and black jerk i never caught a fish with and with a knife i scrapped all the paint off it but a 1/4 strip on the top to make it bone white. It saved me from buying a new one.

I never caught a fish on a tube untill a week ago fishing a dam. Nothing else was working untill i put a 2 1/2 tube on 1/4 oz round jig head and caught 3 walleye on it in 10 minutes. No bass they must have moved out.

What time do you have to clock in?

at the dam last week i was using #17 fluro leader 2 foot long allready snelled up with jig head and swivel. I made up 10 of the snelled leaders expecting this to happen and it got shredded after awhile so i just snapped on new leader. I may try # 20 or #30 as i have both in seaguer blue label. I dont know if #30 would cause a problem with the fish seeing something of the line in the crystal clear water.

what type, size line were you using and how bad did your line-leader get nicked up from the riprap?

a few weeks ago when the weather was still in the 60s a guy was fishing with 2 poles in the water, illegal here in minnesota. Anyway he casted his bobber into a culvert i was fishing and then casted his other bobber out in front of the culvert which is a narrow area to fish and let them sit. Our lines got snagged 3 times because i was cast and retrieve and he was blocking the lane to get my line back in. I was gettin a bit upset but since the fish were not biting anymore i let it go and we went to another lake. Next time i will speak up in a nice way and i am sure he would abide by the rules if not then i cant predict what would happen untill i am in actual situation.
