2022 MN Season Thread
the red river is allready open at the dam here on the minn-ndak border and you can fish year round with no restrictions on the dakota side. Also the sheyene river runs through the west side of fargo. I never fished the sheyene but since the great flood of 1997 here in fargo the city built a flood controll area with big culverts on the sheyene so i am gonna try the flood controll area out in a couple weeks.

Daylight Savings Time
i lived in alaska for a year, it didnt take long for me to realize why the baseball fields didnt have lights. The winter, dark at 3.30pm, light in the morning was 10 am. In the philippines always dark at 6.30 pm, i just hated that.

Which rod would you guys use for "multi-species" ? (Mostly bass but will be using for walleye too)
My walleye rod is also my panfish rod. Spinning, Shakesphere micro series 7' lite. Cost me brand new at fleetfarm $10.99. Very slow tip, the walleye set the hook themselves. Of course it catches big fish just have to play the big fish out. These walleye i caught are very light biters, I really dont set the hook using a small tube on a 1/4 oz jig. Just very slightly move it along the bottom and give it a very small jump off the bottom and i dont realize i caught a walleye untill i pickup the slack again.

Thankful !!
Try it this way instead, you may like it as its kinda like eating a burnt big turkey leg at the county fair. In the philippines these are fish sticks, enjoy.

The Best Way To Carry Tackle For Bank Fisherman In My Opinion
- The Best Way To Carry Tackle For Bank Fisherman In My Opinion
I wade fish mostly and found my latest 2 tackle pouches at a goodwill store. The brown pouch is actually a womans purse and i just attached a different strap, together they cost me $1.25 as you pay by weight. I also use waterproof phone cases to keep my lures and hooks in and slightly bigger case to keep hardbaits in. Everything fits into the pouches that i sling over each shoulder. I keep small terminal tackle in the sealable pouches that swivels and such come in. This way when i go to deep when wading the only stuff that gets wet are my pliers and fish grabber which i just oil up when i get home.- Winter 2021/22
my wifes gonna miss the cold, she likes winter more than summer. She is a philipina and seen snow for the first time in her life in 2019 when we moved from the philippines to the U.S.- Braided line - which ones stand out?
been using spiderwire since the 90s and never has failed me. But this year i respooled all spinning reels which is all i have with 832 for the first time ever just because what you all say about its greatness. I just wanted to try some new line other than my favorite spiderwire. I also stocked up on the 832 last week because fleetfarm had 150yd spools on sale for $12.99. Now i find out spiderwire came out with a new braid claiming to be 25% tougher around rocks than power pro. Hmm why compare it against power pro? https://www.purefishing.com/collections/new-spiderwire-fishing-gear/products/durabraid-1564382- Hook for Flukes
I use 4/0 straight worm hook, 4/0 keel weighted hook and just recently at the end of last year going strictly with 3/0 ewg hooks all texposed very gingerly using zoom super flukes 5''. For drop shot i use octopus hooks through the snout. No problems hooking them using spinning gear medium fast rod.- Split Shot
i use split shot and my problem is no matter how i crimp it on fluoro or braid it will always slide a few inches after a handfull of casts. The force applied when casting is enormous and reeling in against weeds. My wife crimps the heck out of the splits with a pliers and never has a problem to date of a broken line at the split.- Overnight trip - How far would you go??
I wouldnt drive more than 1 1/2 hrs to fish. There are so many lakes and river dams around me in minnesota from minutes away. Many dont get fished as some dont have a decent ramp or no ramp. Many lakes dont get fished because they are not popular, dont get the big headlines of fish stories which is good for us bank and wade anglers. As it is i fish starting at around 2pm untill the sun goes down which in spring early summer is 9.30 -10 pm.- Match the Hatch, Baby! New Flying Spider Lure?
So eating one is out of the question? If Bass pro shops or any other fishing outlet offered you a $2000.00 gift certificate to eat just one of these spiders, would you?- Winter 2021/22
- Running boards?
During high school in 1978 i bought my aunts farm car, a 1967 chevy Biscayne so i could park my nova for the winter. It had a 250 ci straight 6 with 3 on the tree. That car with studded snow tires would plow through anything i pointed it at, deep snow, sticky clay mud while hunting the backroads, farm fields chasing grouse.... Why could i basically go anywhere with that beast? because it came from the factory with posi-traction rear end. The car from the factory came with nothing, no air-con, no carpet on the floors, just an ugly car inside and out but for some reason it had a posi rear end. Here is a pic of my car with our old dog sittin on the hood. - The Best Way To Carry Tackle For Bank Fisherman In My Opinion
