  1. I used spiderwire since the 90,s. I trust spiderwire but this year i put on 832 to to see what all the talk is about. I am using spinning reels. After 3 fishing trips with 30# moss green 832 here are a few differences i noticed. The color hasnt faded yet opposed to spider wire which fades very fast. Spider wire is more limp, softer as in i cut my hand on the 832 pulling out a snag, spider never cut into me. Spider is like soft rope and 832 is like wire rope. Spider catches the wind like a jib sail, 832 not so much and casts farther. Spider frays and line looks fury but it never has let me down. So far the 832 shows no symtoms of fraying. I occasonally get a wind knot as i did last outing. I pulled the line wearing gloves on each side of the loopy knot, pulled real hard and the line sounded like a file on steel and the line cut into itself and cut itself in half. Never has the spider wire cut itself in half doing that. Closing the bail by hand after a cast the spider wire will lay over the bail and fall into the line roller with ease, the 832 doesnt lay over the bail as it is more stiff, wirey and doesnt fall into the line roller as easilly. This has caused me some issues and must pay the utmost attention when starting to reel up slack line. To sum it up after only 3 outings i miss my spiderwire. Lets give it a few more outings and maybe the 832 will limber up.
  2. If i made $ 2.65 an hr i maybe wouldnt have joined the military. In 1979 after graduating high school i was making $1.10 full time in the summer working for Aamco transmissions. Azz, grass or gas nobody rode for free.
  3. To get to the dam on the ottertail river in minn is 132 miles round trip all hwy driving. Honda civic with a packed trunk for bank fishing gets 39mpg hwy. Cost of gas is now at $4.09 in fargo nd for 87 reg. My cost for 1 trip for gas is $12.00. I am now looking at weather patterns more to find the pre fronts, post fronts, cloudy days and even looking at the moon cycles to choose the best days. I am retired and coud go everyday but want to maximize my trips. This week is supposed to be cool so i am going to wait till this coming monday, partly cloudy, chance of rain.
  4. if confronted with the one in your pic will it attack you?
  5. C-mon man, people got to make a livin in this bad inflated economy.
  6. never ate wild hog, does it taste the same as store bought cuts or maybe even better?
  7. Damage from the experimental vaccine?
  8. I make my leaders out of 20# Abrasix. For the ballhead jigs i tie the leader direct to the head and are from 10 to 15 inches long. They are snelled jigs meaning each jig i make has a #8 spro swivel tied on so i can easilly snap a new jig onto my mainline braid. My mainline always has a VMC touch-lok clip tied on so if i lose one or if the jig leader is gettin eaten up by the rocks i can easilly swap it out.
  9. yes the dust cap, the one i needed on the site reads as no longer available. Now i know why some of the reels on display at stores are missing dust caps.
  10. Fished the raging ottertail river below the dam, from the dam to about a 1/4 mile downstream all from the bank wearing waders. I use Northland ball head jigs and with the water being flushed out do to lots of rain the past month i need to go from 1/4 oz to 1/2oz or heavier for the next trip. I lost 2 jigs yesterday, one a pike came right in front of me and snatched my jig with pink 3.5 inch tube on it, 2nd jig caught in the rocks. I use 832 30 lb braid which is new to me this year as i am a spider wire guy since the 90,s. I changed this year just to try out the 832 which alot of people say is the greatest. I stll need more time with the 832 to determine if i stick with it, nothing so far has shown me its better after 3 outings. I use seaguer Abrasix fluoro leader which i am trying this year as before i used seaguer blue label but blue is very expensive for only 25 yards where abrasix gives you 200 yds and cheaper price.
  11. I must have hit the wrong emoji, i will try again.?
  12. thanks but its the other cap that goes on the side of the reel where the handle screws into. I looked at that sites parts list for my reel and the cap isnt listed.
  13. Maybe you can coach the Orioles in Birdland?
  14. very slow for me on laptop, pages take forever to load. Started this past sunday.
  15. Own 5 pflueger reels, president, XT,s, supreme. I swap my handle from side to side every hour so to keep my body balanced, or i should say wear my shoulders out equally. The darn cap that covers the the reel handle insert is made out of cheap plastic and easilly strips out from constant removing it side to side. So irritating when i swap handle and it takes me 5 minutes to try to get the cap to not cross thread and get it to screw on or if stripped put it on ever so lightly so it will not fall off. The worst thing is i cant even order the cap from the manufacturer so i have to steal from my other reels the cap.
  16. Went fishin sunday and monday. The river produced some nice walleye for wife and i. Along with the walleye we both caught smallies and pike. I didnt have a camera on me but the smallie took the old original rapala black and gold and it hit like a tank. The big walleye weighed 8# and 24 inches long.
  17. have had really horrific AI calls to Citi bank trying to talk with a live rep. Up to or more than 5 minutes just to finally hear the words "the wait time to speak with a representative is longer than 30 minutes"
  18. Yeah, i have the code to reset which i keep in the owners manual. Now i am listening to all new radio stations because i dont remember the previous stations call signs. I listen to many stations AM and FM, as soon as there is a news break or a commercial i switch to another station. same with my honda, a "maintenance" light comes on separate from engine light. In the owners manual it tells you how to disable that maintenance light which i have to do every so many thousand miles. she has only 136,000 on her and gets 39mpg on the hwy. I will never break up with her, shes my baby.
  19. 2004 honda civic on the way to fish for crappie the engine light came on for the first time ever. The car was running great so no lost cylinder but the light bothered me. We arrived at our first fishing spot and while the wife fished i decided to check my fuel cap as i just filled up earlier. The rubber o-ring on cap was dry rotted and cracked so it was not sealing. I recall the last 3 months when i gassed up when taking the cap off it wasnt releasing the tank pressure as it always did for years. For a quick fix i took vaseline lip balm and applied it aroud the o-ring and around the filler neck and put cap on and made a good tight turn. I then removed the neg cable off the battery to clear the engine codes and turn off the engine light. So far so good. I could just have keep driving with bad cap as it doesnt affect engine performance. It is for keeping the gas tank fumes from eccaping from the fuel system into the atmosphere. But the darn light was annoying me so i had to get it out of my sight. To be prepared i carry a bag of tools, extra belts, a spare coil pack, large can of fix a flat, battery jump starter, tire plug kit, an electric air pump and AAA membership.
  20. Went fishing around detroit lakes minn for crappie. Wife and i during the day caught bass and pike on crappie lures, no crappie bite untill later. Later came at 6 pm, amid dark skies the crappie were biting and then at 6:15 a 45 minute deluge of rain came over us so we left all our gear on the bank and sat in the car. Now it was 7pm after the storm and the crappie were crazy, we caught a load of them, average size was 10 inches with a few 12 inchers. We used small jig heads with 2 1/2" gulp minnows. As wife started to clean the fish it was now dark out and the crappie were still lit up so as she was cleaning i kept walking up to her with another. Wife found in 4 of the fish a large amount of fish eggs. Pitch black out and still biting i decided to stop and give them a break, we arrived home at 11.30 pm, an hour drive to get home. As i took off my clothes to get into the shower i found 4 ticks on me, 2 on my scalp attached, and 2 on my back attached.

  23. The Piriformis muscle is a muscle in your butt that the sciatic nerve runs through. Many people have a tight piriformis muscle that is mistaken for a disk problem. Watch youtube videos on what the piriformis is and how to stretch it. Also tight hamstrings can cause lower back pain.
  24. the pike might have a say in this.
