First off you really need to pull the hook out of the body which takes 1 second. I have bent many, even on the bank by using a small vice grips, the vice grip is a must so you can lock down on the area where the hook is at is roundest. Then take a pliers and grab onto the shanks of the hook and hold tight and twist the vice grib in desired way.

I was using ewg spiral lock hooks for my flukes but had to stop because the angle from the spiral coming off the hook eye to the tip of hook point doesnt line up properly. When trying to texpose the hook point the point doesnt want to stay in the plastic, always popping out due to the angle. I am back to using regular ewg hooks.

Here is my usual type of day when i go bank fishing, i will state that my stamina at 60 yrs old wouldnt be possible without doing planned cardio and weight training focasing on my upper, lower back and legs. Went fishing yesterday wading and walking the steep rocky banks at the river yesterday. Started at 1 pm and finally took the waders off at 11:pm. I drank lots of water but only ate a pb and jelly sandwich in 10 hrs. I was cranking and jerking all day, fighting pike, carp, smallies, catfish and endless snags in the fast rocky current. The only rest i took was when i sat on a rock to put a new leader on or new lure as i am a ways away from where the wife is setup so i carry all i need on me in my straped on packs around my waist. The pike i caught in the current had me breathing heavy as i was having to reel in, pull the fish up and reel in again as this pike was pulling a tight drag all the while standing on wet algae river rocks trying to balance myself. Same with the carp as i snagged it right along its side towards the tail fin so he had nothing in his mouth to turn him and he was like a submarine full steam ahead. When i landed that carp his side was ripped pretty good from the trebble hook that was well into the flesh thanks to new bigger trebles that i put on the rip stop jerk bait the night before. I was pretty tired out at 7pm but the sun was gettin lower so i got a second wind and by 9pm it was still light out especially after i took my sunglasses off. ?. After in a span of ten minutes catching a brownie, catfish, and a drum I called it quits and headed back to the car. Arrived home at 12:30 am, after unloading the car, taking showers i got to bed at 3:am. Then the cramps in my groin set in. First time i ever had cramps in my groin both sides, i contribute this to the new groin stretches i started doing 7 days ago that are pretty intense and they were sore to begin with but the groin locked up like a bank at closing time.

The parts i am in desperate need of are the dust covers for the handle, pics posted below, and a handle for the one that broke last week on my pres XT. The clerk told me she orders her parts from pflueger and she will order me as asked 6 dust covers for $1.05 each and she will out of her broken reel junk yard get me a handle and the cost will be $6.50 for used handle. Clerk stated that i should recieve my parts in 7-10 days. This hopefully puts an end to my dust cap problem as i just lost another one off my supreme yesterday as it was stripped and eventually fell of somewhere in the abyss.

I talked to a guy at the compost site and he tells me the city does a good job of sifting the weeds, rocks, debri out. I filled my buckets and ran across a few weeds, it passed my smell test so to say. It is free so thats works for me.

When i lived in california i had a suction dredge for finding gold in the super clear creeks in the sierras. I wore a fullbody wetsuit, mask with snorkel, wetsuit hood, footies and gloves as the water in the summer was 50 degrees. As i get into the hole we allready dredged out there isnt a fish in site. As soon as we start suctioning the gravels the trout magically show up facemask to fish face as they are gobbling up whatever i am disturbing. Its a site to witness how the fish are just inches away from my hands holding the suction nozzle and hovering steady right next to my face like i was having a conversation with Mr. Limpet.

went to our cities compost lot and the compost is free so we loaded up some 5 gallon buckets and put it around all our veggies and hand tilled it in. Should i have done this? This is the first time i have ever put compost in the soil.

there is a beetle here in fargo nd that is eating holes in our bean leaves. Also seen a rabbit eating our okra plants so had to tighten up the garden security. We are way behind compared to last year in the height and maturity of our plants. We didnt have a spring this year, went right into summer.

Wading is fun, my favorite way to fish. It looks like you are wearing frogg togg hip waders? Dont be like me or maybe you have where i put on my hip waders instead of my chest waders and then forget what i am wearing and step in to deep and fill them up.

I opened up the bail, waded to the steep shore, put rod on bank, climbed out on my knees, stood up grabbed rod, walked backward through the cattails and brush, called over to the wife, she held the rod, i went back into the water as deep as i could and with my gloved hands pulled the line while she reeled the stub to collect the line. It actually was envigorating, especially bringing the fish in. Just another story to remember good and bad. Anyone have a handle for sale?

You know what really stinks? my feet after wearing pvc waders for 8 hrs of bank fishing and wading. They smell so bad at the end of my day that flies congregate thinking my feet are decomposing.

Same with libraries. Went to the library last week to download and make copies, the libraries of old are gone. Todays library where i go is more like a daycare center where kids go to after school and play video games on the computers untill their parents get off work to pick them up. So much loud talking amongst kids where back in my grade school library days instead of computers we actually went to read books or checkout books to bring home. Walking by the row of computers i see what the kids are playing, guns, shooting, fighting, mostly violent stuff. I was always shushed by the librarian or other kids, Shssssssh always with signs posted to be quiet.
