  1. be sure that the split ring rotates inside the hook eyelet smoothly or else hook will get hung up on split ring and screw up it ability to move freely. I had to go down to size 3 ring on some hooks for ring to move freely so i then switched to gama SuperLine ewg hook where the eyelet of hook is bigger and then was able to use size 4 split ring.
  2. never used a tokyo rig, decided to make my own while watching tv. Snap ring pliers, reg pliers, wire cutter and a needle nose was all it took. Dont know how long i will make the leader wire, maybe experiment with different lengths.
  3. you put 2 weights on opposed of each other.
  4. The biceps tendon is attached to the top of the labrum. When the biceps tendon pulls on the labrum and tears the labrum it its called a slap tear. The surgeon told me now adays instead of fixing the labrum tear they just cut the biceps tendon completly lose and let it shrivel up like a rubberband.
  5. no roof rack. I will have to measure from the base of the windshield to the base of the back window and see if it will fit that way. It will then run between the the front seats and along my shoulder.
  6. sucks when at 3 in the morning when you scratch your neck and realize its a tick burrowing in and your friends tell ya to go back to sleep and will dig it out in the morning.
  7. i used 80lb 2 foot fluro leader on my jigs to combat the pike and works great.
  8. ever watch the show naked and afraid? watch the episodes where the skeeters are in the millions and attacking for 21 days. I would have to tap out its not worth the prize money.
  9. i will put a minnesota skeeter against your sc skeeter and see who loses.?
  10. my goal is to buy a 1 piece 7.2 foot graphite rod and figure out how to fit it into my 2004 honda 2 door civic withut putting the back seats down. The back seat is allready packed and i dont want the road noise getting worse from the trunk and the wife likes the air conditioning in the summer and exposed trunk will kill the air. I am currently using ugly sticks new carbon 2 piece spinning rods which to me are fantastic but dont come in a medium heavy.
  11. hmm, i bought mine at fleetfarm. Anyhow the only problem i encounter with them is snapping into a deep recessed popper where i end up having to give a slight bend to the clip wire. Maybe have to put a ring on the popper what do you do?
  12. i use the exact same and my snap on the line now has been used for so long that the black nickle finish has worn off and now its shiny stainless steel.
  13. i dated a girl while stationed in california, i told her i was from north dakota, she asked me where is north dakota, i said below canada, she asked me where is canada. Her name wasnt karma.
  14. Get the operation, thats my opinion from me whom has had 9 surgeries in my lifetime to my body joints. My elbow operation on inside tendon was a fast recovery. Dr operated as i told him i needed!!! to get back to work as quick as possible or lose my job as injury was iniatianally not work related. Ended up missing only 3 weeks and i was a heavy equipment mechanic and slowly progressed gaining strength while working and limiting using my right arm for power and using my left untill i gained strength. I only had 2 therapy sessions as they showed me what to do and then was on my own. Then my outside tendon tore a few years later and a different dr screwed around and shot me up with streoids and it didnt help and refused to operate and left me in pain for 2 solid years untill i couldnt stand it and we got into an argument and i got another dr and had operation 3 weeks later. Again 2 rehab sessions showed me what to do and bye bye did it at home and going on 3 years now elbow is great. The 2nd elbow surgery took 8 months to heal which was a lot better than constant pain for 2 years prior to operation My choice is always to get the operation so i can move on in life as fast as possible. The therapist always want me to push through the pain and i agree as some days after my own therapy my elbow was in flames and i wondered if i was getting better but i did.
  15. wife bought me some arashi square bills 1.5. One with rattles one silent. Of course i found them on the bottom shelf super sale area at fleetfarm that was picked over but why didnt the anglers grab the last 2 arashi in an empty sales bin? Cost was $1.24 each. She also bought me a rapala ripstop 11, kvd 2.5 square bill and 1.5 and a origial floating rapala all requested by me but she also bought some spinners that she lost to replentish our tacklebox which she picked out herself that she likes to throw, black head, skirt and neon orange willow blades. I bought her jewelry which she has a pretty big collection, bigger than my lure collection.
  16. my wife today shoveled the 1/2 inch dusting we got in fargo nd overnight. She asked me why us northerners always complain about the cold when we should be used to it. This is her 2nd winter in the usa.
  17. fargo nd had a cabellas and a gander mountain around 9 years ago but they couldnt compete with scheels which has been here since the 60,s. Scheels is expensive for its clothing for men, woman kids but the fishing is pretty in line with Fleetfarm. People here just flock to scheels as it is the only real sporting good place in town with no competition. The scheels lures branded scheels work fine except for the hooks attached. For example i snaged 2 lures square bills on a lilly pad stem and the treble hooks didnt bend they snapped off and left me with 2 hooks out of 3 on the treble.
  18. amber, sturdy frame, not half frame where the lense hangs free on the sides and bottom. Must have a curved frame look and the arms bend over the ears some not a straight arm. The nose section must be formed with the frame not wire bendable nose pieces. Must be tight enough to be able to slide up to top of my head and never fall off also rotate them down by chin while still holding onto my head. My glasses never come off my head all day, i dont ever lose them and i dont use a strap as stated above they fit like a tight glove. I dont spend over 25.00 for recreational fishing glasses but i do spend $300.00 for my prescription sunglasses which only come into play for driving to and from the lake.
  19. i am a mechanic and i was rebuiding the 4 barrel carburator for my glasstron carlson jet boat at the kitchen table and my girlfriend at the time bought a desktop computer. I never used a computer before and this was in 2000 and she told me i need a good all around username and i didnt even know what that meant so anyway she taught me the basics. I tried a bunch of names and they were all taken so i looked at the carb sittin on the kitchen table and thought no one gonna use the name of a carb part for a name so throttleplate it is.
  20. I never tried the gator, i was more interested in eating the appetizers. if its good enough for a fish to eat and we do eat fish why not give it a try?
  21. i make my own out of 80 lb seaguer, I tie a clip on one end and a swivel on the other using a simple 2 wrap clinch knot and then use a soldering gun to melt the tag end to leave a small nub in case of slip that has never happeped. You can use the 2 wrap clinch on line that is 60 lb or more and i pre make a bunch of these leaders by putting a big hook in a vise and using it as a tool jig to draw down the line while wearing a glove as i pull it tight. My main line is braid and i have a snap on it because i change out lures quite often during the day and of course the leader gets nicked to bad i toss it aside and clip on another one no muss no fuss. There are 2 lakes that are just swamped with good sized bass and i got bit off on a new square bill crank bait and finally had enough and made all these leaders. I throw big top waters and jerks and the 80 lb doesnt bother my retrieve at all. The 1.5 square bills no problem also my pad crasher frogs get the leader as the pike chew on them like bubblegum. watch this guy make a leader.
  22. i use 80 LB floru for a leader in minnesota on my cranks, jerks, top waters, chatters, frogs, poppers, spinners because they became a big problem and every other fish was a pike. I actually like catching them for the fight and i am now not sure if i will stop using the 80 lb next year.
  23. my change will be to bring a better lunch with me, more sandwiches less cookies. Use both arms more to cast, reel, jerk so as to save my joints as it only takes me 15 seconds to switch handle to other side of spining reel. Buy a mosquito net type covering for my head-face to wear when the 8pm minnesota skeeters come out in force and use mosquito spray on my clothes as we usually fish till 10pm in the summer. Buy 2 way radio to clip onto my waders so when around a corner my wife can contact me and stop worrying that i drown.
  24. well said, this pertains to all baits. I would say for myself the first time i used a jig just for the heck of it i put on as a trailer a broke off piece of a stick bait that was so short it had no movement and threw it out and caught a bass. Well darn this is easy and it works so i continued. After working the jig for an hour i felt like a pro as i not knowing really anything about jig fishing worked it in many different ways and probably without knowing it did all the techniques known to man. I caught my biggest bass this year with the jig using a rageking craw while bank fishing. I was using top waters to start with and then i wasnt having any more success with that so i sat down and said well today i promised myself i would throw the greenpumpkin jig with a craw before we left to hit another lake. I wrote down on a piece of paper that morning and put it in my bank bag a list of the lures i was going to use that day and had them separated out so i wanted to squeeze in the jig before we left. Threw it out from the bank and slowly dragged it over sunken tree parts feeling the weeds and most importantly i was looking at the fall scenery kinda daydreaming thinking on what lake to hit next not expecting to catch a fish then wham it hit and i set and reeled her in and had me a nice 6 pounder. Without even thinking about it my technique was just automatic not stressing myself if i will catch a fish or not but it was just my mind working with my hands all the while i wasnt really 100% focused on catching a fish. So to all the fishing guys stop panicking, stressing, feeling like if you dont give 100% you are a failure and wont ever catch a fish, relax have fun and good things happen when you least expect it.
