  1. It is. I hadn’t thought of that. I may tie on a D Walker 120 and give it a try.
  2. Same here… just had a buddy tell me. Aaron seemed classy in every way!
  3. Stiff it is… I have an older aldebaran 50 and a Curado 70 MGL that I could pair with.
  4. If you had this rod, what would you use it for the most? What reel would you mate with it?
  5. I have never heard of this before. Can you elaborate? Do you just do this in saltwater? How is your reel not slippery?
  6. Agreed… close out sites will be your friend here. When I was doing what you’re doing and looking for waders/boots. I was encouraged to buy the best boots I could afford and was glad I did. Most people will keep a good pair of boot for multiple pairs of waders. I found the best value when I bought to be Redington waders and Korkers Boots. That may be old info now, though. There is no comparison to a good, properly fitted pair of boots as opposed to boot foot waders. If you’re in moving water with rocks and slime, a good boot will be key.
  7. I really enjoy my Curados but TBH they are not in the same class as the new Zillion. If the New Zillion is in the cards, I’d jump for sure
  8. The guide same guide on my SC Legend is oriented the same as yours. Only single footed.
  9. Correct… but the bottom guide appears to be oriented towards the end of the rod and not the handle. I would certainly inquire. I would be curious if the guide on the MH is a double footed guide, not single.
  10. Images online would suggest that is how the guide is supposed to be oriented.
  11. I have the same set up expect in 782s and Vanford 2000. It is a great fishing combo!
  12. I also have the 852s in the NRX+ And am very pleased. I would say there is a reason it is one of their more popular rods. Not sure if the NRX+ are more sensitive than their NRX predecessors but the external spiral X wrap seems to be much more durable.
  13. Hillbilly Mayhem sounds like the name of a professional wrestler or monster truck.
  14. Glad it got sorted. Of course it would be good to know what you did to fix it so you can replicate the fix and possibly help other should they have the same issue.
  15. I am looking to do the same thing to buy the same rod. If you know of a good buy on the 873crr I’d love to know.
  16. Thanks FishTank… I have read other similar comments about the 803. The buy was a buy all for a set price kind of thing. Honestly, I don’t fish a crankbait all that much. Perhaps with a more dedicated rod I might. Also curious to see if it would be good with topwater treble hook baits and/or jerkbaits. I am hoping the 874 is good for jigs and larger t-rigs. I am curious to see how “heavy” it fishes or if it is more “medium-heavy”
  17. I picked up these three older style GLX rods for what I think was a very reasonable price and wanted to see what the collective experience is here with any or all of these rods. Given time I will be able to put some water time into all three and have my own experience and opinion but until then, I wanted to hear from y’all. I cleaned the cork and they all cleaned very well. I will seal them this weekend when I have time. All seem to be in very good condition given they are used and I would guess roughly 10 years old. They are all full handle with recoil guides. Any info and impression you ha e would be appreciated.
  18. Not sure about the Vanford but the Stradic (which I also love) has an upgrade to carbon drag washer I believe with the 3000 and up. That may could factor into your decision too if the same holds for the Vanford. I have the 2000 Vanford and it is a great reel as well.
  19. Are there any significant differences between older GLX rods and newer ones? Are there any reasons to avoid the older versions of this @line of Loomis rod? I may have a line on a couple older full grip models - 874 BCR and crankbait. Also, if condition is good without any major blemishes or marks on the blank, what is a reasonable price to pay in the used market? Thanks in advance YALL!
  20. Thanks… very helpful.
  21. What are your thoughts of the Bantam and the Metanium head to head? I’d be interested to hear your thoughts and comparisons.
  22. Does anyone have one with good time on the water that can give a recommendation? I would especially be interested to know how it compares to the previous Zillion/Steez and reels like the Bantam MGL. The reviews online seems glowing but I would be interested to hear from folks here. Thanks in advance.
  23. I can’t help much with your question about line choice but that sounds like one heck of a combo. If you have to only have one, you swung for the fence, which I applaud! Hope it catches many, many fish and makes even more memories.
  24. I have also had luck going to a wake bait when they won’t commit to the topwater. I have found that something run just below the surface can be what is needed. Plus it is almost as much fun as a true topwater.
