  1. Yes. My empty aluminum enclosed snowmobile trailer takes my truck from 22 to 15 and is super light. My 23' Malibu which is just under 7000lbs doesn't effect it as much.
  2. Let's see $250 * 5 = $1250. If it were me, I'd do it more like this: $300 - 7'6" heavy fast rod for heavy cover and flipping/pitching $400 - 7'3" medium heavy fast rod for jigs and carolina rig and texas rigs $250 - 7' medium fast rod for topwater, spinnerbaits, and lipless crankbaits $100 - 7' medium moderate rod for square bill crankbaits $200 - 7' medium heavy moderate rod for chatterbaits, large spinnerbaits, etc The MH Fast I'd have custom made. The moderates I'd buy used.
  3. Maiden voyage Been out twice. Few more bugs to sort out, but almost "like new"
  4. Depends on how often you tow. For instance, I move my wakeboard boat 2x a year. For that I would not be terribly concerned, but if I were towing it 3x a week I'd make sure the tow vehicle was more robust.
  5. No, should stop talking about a fish creating a vibration. It will greatly simplify everyones understanding of what is happening. IMO it is way worse than the misnomer of calling a flip a pitch.
  6. Shots scheduled, first one tomorrow!
  7. Exactly. Before you described the line as vibrating, but the line transmits force and is the forcing function moving the rod. If you feel vibrations from a dead pull on a rod it is the mechanical response of the rod that is vibrating and not the line. Some rods are surely dead feeling in this regard.
  8. I bought a KVD 7'4" CB rod for $40. That seems like a deal. The exact rod A-Jay uses for a variety of baits. If you want budget, new isn't where I'd be looking.
  9. 12 years ago I started traveling 40+ weeks a year...then add 2 kids to the mix and I had no time for the boat. Fast forward to now and the kids are finally old enough to come with so times are changing for the positive.
  10. Vibration is sinusoidal or a combination of sinus waves. What you feel is a force, not a vibration. Modal response of the rod and mechanical energy transfer can surely be quantified based on frequency but weight/pull/bites are not a vibration.
  11. Exciting a limp line to carry vibrations is WAY harder than the rod. Changes in force on the line due to pulling/moving/etc however isn't so hard.
  12. Thunder/lightning as well. Will keep me from failing at crappie fishing for the next few days anyhow.
  13. I'd love to...but am not educated enough on what is edible. Morels and ramps we hunt, but beyond that not so much. Wish there was a class I could take with my 9 & 11 year old. They are already trained on how to find wild berries when we camp, but more things to add to the meal the better.
  14. Awesome. Can't wait to see the complete list of mods. Customizing stuff is super rewarding.
  15. I read that a while ago. I meant what you just finished Love seeing upgrades. Have had a fleet of different canoes, love fishing out of them.
  16. Tease. What'd you do?
  17. I have 30+ st croix rods. Never broken a tip off and even when I am negligent they took care of it. At first try to do the right thing
  18. Took the family out today. Found no crappies, but picked the side of the lake close to home which had homogeneously 41 deg water...even the back water was the same temp. Didn't want to subject the younglings and my wife to lots of effort and no fish so we bailed a bit early. First nice day though so I didn't expect anything. Perhaps on Monday since they have no school things will be different.
  19. Back on topic. 3 days after ice out, boat is christened. Wish I could say the fishing was great, but 41F water and a 9 & 11 year old along for the ride short changed that from being a reality.
  20. Nice work. Exactly why I have a dedicated phone and wallet spot in my boat.
  21. Complete trash, have to throw it away. I will pick it up in the am to do it for you. Do your seasonal service and all is good.
  22. Needed grease for annual baitcaster servicing and had a $25 gift card which of course means you have to spend $75 to get free shipping. Think it is the 14th tackle delivery since Nov...and ice out was a whopping 2 days ago.
  23. I own 1 rod that is 6'6" or under. For most applications I'd look for longer than 7.
  24. The way out you can keep your feet dry. Just pretie your retrieval rope and attach it to the trailer. Back up, dump the boat without getting out of the truck and pull forward so that the trailer is far enough out of the water to grab the rope. Pull the boat to shore, park and go. Coming back in though we feet is harder. Can get from shore to boat and on the trailer, but can't magically drive my truck from the boat.
  25. I started fishing in bigger water than that. Had a 10' deep v rowboat with a 9.9 on it. Was never scared. Parents let me got out alone at age 10 in it everywhere. A 16' with a 25hp and a good trolling motor would have been glorious.
