  1. I'll be heading to Deep Creek next week for a 1-day trip. Launching from the State Park ramp. Any suggestions for areas to target and/or lures to use? It's my first time there.
  2. Thanks. I have a lot to learn with these units
  3. I was skimming over the manual for my Garmin units and it sounds like it's useful to leave a blank Micro SD in the unit to take advantage of some of the features. Am I reading this correctly? I've already used the cards to update the software.
  4. Finally bought a boat. Ranger RT178, 75 hp Mercury, Fortrex 80 24volt trolling motor and 2 Garmin Echomap UHD 93SV fish finders. I've only been out once and still need to get used to it. So far so good.
  5. Whoa! Didn't know about Anchor Marina. It's only 11 miles from my house. I'll have to check that out.
  6. Thanks @Capt No Fish I hadn't thought of the Delaware or Neshaminy. I'm in Nottingham, southwest Chester County. Neshaminy is 90 minutes from me. Conowingo and Elk Neck are about 30 minutes.
  7. Google "bucket trap for mice". They work really well. I've used them in my barn with good results. For the liquid you can mix water with antifreeze in the winter and vinegar in the summer. No smell.
  8. Have you thought about giving the mice a small way in and load up the boat with snap traps or a bucket trap? That way the boat is covered and protected from the elements and the mice aren't damaging the cover or the boat.
  9. I should be getting my new Ranger RT178 in the next week or 2. I'm looking for an easy, low pressure launch and easy to navigate water. I'm OK backing up a trailer but not an expert. Any thoughts on where to to go for my first outing to get used to the boat and do a little fishing? Here are some fairly close to me. - Peach Bottom Marina, Conowingo Reservoir, PA - Glen Cove Marina, Conowingo Reservoir, MD - Blue Marsh Lake, PA - Rogues Harbor, Elk Neck State Park, MD
  10. Thanks @RichF We're staying at The Log Cabins on Black Lake. Looks like the Morristown ramp is less than 10 miles from there.
  11. I'll be going to Black Lake NY at the end of May for an annual trip. I was thinking of trying the Alexandria Bay area for the first time. Any suggestions for a good place to launch my boat? A less crowded ramp is preferred.
  12. Do you leave your electronics connected while trailering? Do you disconnect them and lock them up when your boat is tied up at a dock for the night?
  13. All I get when I do that is "Report" and "Share".
  14. @SilverBack that's . I bought mine a few months ago. Just checked and my nearest HD is out of stock but several others within a 60 minute drive have 1 or 2. Did you check other stores? Looks like Amazon has it for same price with free Prime delivery. Sorry, I screwed that post up. How do you edit a post on this forum?
  15. I recently bought a Dewalt job site table saw and am very happy with it. https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-15-Amp-Corded-10-in-Job-Site-Table-Saw-with-Rolling-Stand-DWE7491RS/204512007
  16. Bulleit bourbon Rittenhouse Rye
  17. I ordered the same boat a few weeks ago and am anxiously awaiting delivery. Lots of choices out there. I agree that the quality is good. The only changes I made was the 75hp motor, the Fortrex 80 trolling motor and 2 Garmin 93sv fish finders.
  18. 75hp motor and a the 24v Fortrex trolling motor. I opted not to get any electronics Ranger that offered. The dealer is putting in console and bow mounted Garmin 93SV finders for me.
  19. I ordered a new Ranger RT178 and should have it in 2 months. It' my first boat. What should I be thinking of getting as far as basic essential accessories? So far my list has life jackets, dock bumpers and dock lines. What else should I get?
  20. Thanks for the replies. As I research I'm realizing the list of electronics offered by Ranger is just ok. I'm now leaning towards ordering a boat without electronics and buying/installing them separately.
  21. New member here. I'm about to buy my first bass boat and have pretty much settled on a new Ranger RT178. Now I need to pick electronics before looking for prices. I'd like to have units at the console as well as at the bow. The information out there is overwhelming. I'm not looking for brand recommendations as much as general advice, experiences and pointers. Ranger offers Garmin, Humminbird and Lowrance which is ok with me. - I'll be mostly bass fishing in lakes and reservoirs. No trolling. - Are there any 'must have' features I should be looking for? Screen size? Side imaging? GPS? - I'm assuming I should purchase the same brand for both units. Do you agree? - Does it make sense to get combo units for both console and bow? - For side imaging does it make sense to have that only at the console? - Like a lot of fishing gear the prices range from budget to really expensive. I don't mind spending the money but the $2-3,000 units seem like they'd be beyond me and I wouldn't get my moneys worth out of it. Have you been happy with your units? Wished you spent more? Found your units are overkill? - How difficult is it to install electronics? I don't want to try to save some money by purchasing the units separately and then screw up the installation. Seems like spending a little more and getting the units pre-installed might be the smartest thing. Thanks for any help.
