I’d go with the Dobyns. Just my humble and totally correct opinion though.

I use a 6’10” medium fast baitcaster with a 7.1:1 reel , spooled with 12# fluoro for shallow cranks , jerks and weightless senkos. It started out a dedicated jerkbait rod but I keep finding jobs for it

I don’t know how they handle all that pressure without cracking. It doesn’t even sound fun having everybody eyeballing you all the time . Probably not many people that could perform at that level.

That noise is like nails on a chalkboard. I have one spinning reel loaded with 20# braid to take on somebody else’s boat , In case I need to swap heavier or lighter leaders, but the rest of them are loaded with nylon or fluorocarbon.

When my spool gets low or after I throw a fit and stretch/gouge my line.

In the summer if I’m fishing deep vertically it’s a spoon. Casting deep it’s a jig . Shallow is a well known secret , the weightless purple worm.

I can’t believe I never thought of this. Usually I just put the jerkbait down when my arm wears out. Another reason I like this forum.

I like a little bit of contrast. If I’m fishing with a brown jig , I like a brown trailer with a purple underbelly. Wild and crazy I know.

I finished reading Lunker Lore yesterday evening. That was a good read. One thing I didn’t understand was the part about retrieving a jig a quarter of a turn on the reel. I’ve always heard that I’m supposed to be moving the jig with rod sweeps, not the reel.

Aaron Martens has taught me a lot through videos and articles. Sure hope he wins the battle he’s fighting.
