Tatula Elite AGS flippin stick
Just picked up a 7’6” Heavy Tatula Elite AGS flippin stick from Scheels. Anyone have this rod and how do y’all like it?

Expride 6'10" MH/F
I have the Zodias in the 6’10” MH and an Expride in the 7’2” MH. They are fantastic rods. The 6’10” makes a great jig/worm rod, spinnerbaits in close quarters, swimjigs, etc. Very versatile. The shorter rod will definitely help with bank fishing

Which Dobyns Champ Extreme HP?
Well I was about to order a DX745, when I stumbled upon a 7’6” Tatula Elite AGS flipping stick on sale for $231 at Scheels and couldn’t resist. New Zillion SV came in the mail yesterday and wow it sure is a beautiful combo.

Which Dobyns Champ Extreme HP?
I’m looking to add another bottom contact rod to my arsenal for t-rigs and jigs and really have always wanted a Champ Extreme. I can’t decide which one to get. Here’s what my current setups are: 7’2” MF Psycho stick (weightless t-rigs, 1/4oz jigs) 7’2” MHF Expride (weighted worms, 3/8-1/2oz jigs) 7’3” HF Rebellion (1/2-3/4oz jigs, pitchin stick) I’m thinking I bump the Rebellion to frog duties and occasional jigging, and get a DX745. However, I’m also thinking of the 795 flip or the 746. Which rod would compliment these rods the best? Also I fish from a mix of kayak and the bank. Thank you

Tatula SV issue
Dry bearings sounds like it explains it. Especially the noise. I’m sure part of the geary feel can be attributed to the sound making it seem rough. I’ll try getting them good with oil. Last time I cleaned and oiled the bearings I might not have put enough. I was worried mainly about not overlubing them as opposed to not underlubing Yes it’s a scratchy sound

Tatula SV issue
I currently have a Tatula SV (2017 model) that feels geary and is loud especially when free spinning. For the first year it was a spectacular reel. Still is, besides the above issues. I went fishing with it yesterday and it seemed to calm down and get smoother/quieter as I fished it for a bit. Then when I got home and the reel dried out, it was noisy again so I tore it down and regreased the gears. Didn’t fix it. Thinking about ordering a new gear set for it. Any ideas on what else it could be? Thank you

Scheels is coming to town
The one down here in The Colony, TX is really nice. Best rod/reel selection I’ve seen with plenty of high end models. However, they do run pretty low on stock sometimes. Great lure selection as well. Not a lot of deals but it is a good place to get a rod in your hands and if anything, feel it before buying it online for a good deal. It is kind of like a Dicks downstairs and a F&S upstairs if they build the Tulsa one similar

Ultralight Reel
Asian Portal has the 2000 size Miravel for $82. I haven’t tried the Miravel but it looks like it has a lot of bells and whistles for the price tag. The Daiwa Fuego LT is another good one. I have one and love it. If you are worried about the Magseal, the Exceler is pretty much the same thing for a bit cheaper and no Magseal

Shimano SLX or Lews Speed Spool LFS
Both are nice, I think the LFS is just a little bit better though

New rod!
Might as well pick up a Tatula Elite too while they are on sale. Can get them for 130-140 at TW and I’ve seen them for cheaper on other sites. They are great rods as well and Daiwa has a thing where you get a free hoodie or something if you buy a Tatula

Baitcasting Reel Between $100-200
Curado 150 MGL, Tatula SV, Lews Tournament Pro. All great choices. I have that exact rod with a tournament pro on it and it feels great in hand

New rod!
Rebellions are really underrated and not talked about as much as they should. Better than the Tatula elites for not much more (until elites went on sale everywhere before the new updated version comes out). They are on par with the Zodias for a little cheaper. Definitely a good deal

The latest sale thread

Dobyns 765 vs 766 flip
Thanks y’all, sounds like I’ll be getting the 766 then ?

7'3" H tatula elite
I’ve fished 7’1”H Tatula Elite jig skipping rod and loved it. Not sure how much different the 7’3” is action-wise but overall the Elites have a softer tip than the regular Tatulas. Should toss 3/8 jigs pretty well. They are a little on the tip heavy side, and a 6oz reel wouldn’t help with that. The balance isn’t super bad or anything but it’s not great either. Overall they are light, look pretty sweet with the right reel, and are really sensitive for the price. The slight tip-heaviness is the only negative I’ve seen with them

Dobyns 765 vs 766 flip
So I’m looking to cash in on a Dobyns sale going on right now and am interested in the flippin rods. Specifically the Kaden 765 and the Sierra 766 flip models. I currently have a 7’3” heavy Daiwa Rebellion that handles pretty much all of my heavy applications except for frogging. I’m looking for something That can compliment that rod and take over flipping into heavy cover. I live in north Texas and a lot of the ponds around here have thick hydrilla mats that bass nest in. Would I need to step up to the 6 power or would the 5 power work just fine? Thank you

Rod selection decision
After trying many different rods at different price points I’ve settled on pretty much 200-300 dollar rods. They are the most I can afford with my patience level and most I can spend without being super scared of breaking it. (I would baby the heck out of something like an NRX+ to the point where I wouldn’t even be focused on the fishing). As for brands, Shimano, Daiwa, and Dobyns will pretty much always be what I get. I have been intrigued by Megabass after holding some Levantes though. Going forward I’m pretty much set on Exprides and Rebellions for bottom contact and Champion XPs for moving baits. However, sales on certain rods can get the monkey to bite

Expride broken guide
I forgot to mention I can slip it back into the wrapping and it’s kind of snug. Would still pop out im sure under normal use. I guess if I do try epoxying it and it pops out again then the warranty would be voided

Expride broken guide
I purchased a 7ft medium spinning Expride from TW during the Black Friday sale and one of the guides popped out from the wrapping (6th guide from the tip) and I’m not sure what to do. Would TW still be able to replace it after almost 2 months or could I just epoxy it back on? The guide and the wrapping are intact and it just popped out. Thanks

Where to put transducer?
I recently picked up a Garmin Striker 4 and am trying to decide where to mount the transducer on my F&S Eagle Talon 120. I’ve seen it’s possible to put it inside the kayak in the front storage part and just glue it in there, but I’m worried about how that will affect the performance of the sonar. I do like how it’s easy to install and it’s safer in there from getting banged up. Is it worth it to mount it on the outside, on the bottom of the boat? Or is the performance difference negligible? Thank you

Lethargic winter bass
Yeah I caught an 8 pounder off the rocks last year at buck creek. Usually is really good. I did accidentally launch a jerkbait up onto the tracks and had to get up there to get it. Made sure I didn’t hear a train and went for it lol. I tried Isle Du Bois as well but the wind was real bad and in my face so I didn’t stay long. If you do go to texoma, the rock bluffs at Eisenhower are really nice. As well as by the dam on the south side. Really good smallmouth fishing there

Please help me pick a reel to replace my Lews Tournament MB - Lews vs Shimano
I wasn’t taking a shot at Lews. Just in general, most people would say the Metanium is better than the Tournament Pro. I prefer my $300 Chronarch over my Tournament Pro. But I’d say my tournament pro is on the same level as my curados, as it is price wise as well. I haven’t tried the new Lews elite but I’m sure it’s a really nice reel

Please help me pick a reel to replace my Lews Tournament MB - Lews vs Shimano
The ACB isn’t the problem, it’s the SLP frame. The tournament lite should feel similar to your MB and has an aluminum frame ?

Please help me pick a reel to replace my Lews Tournament MB - Lews vs Shimano
If you really like the LFS frame, the Tournament Pro LFS is a great reel. I’d take it over the Custom SLP which has the exact same frame as the one you dislike: That being said the Metanium would probably mop the floor with them performance-wise. Nothing against the Lews, I love mine, but a $400 Shimano is gonna be better than a $200 Lews. It also is a small framed reel that will likely feel nice in hand. Another really good small reel is the Daiwa Zillion SV. Should be similarly priced or a little cheaper than the Met if you go JDM. The one I have is flawless and feels similar in size to my Lews reels
