  1. I'm a fan of the Spunk Shad. A lot of the time I just raw dog it though.
  2. Anybody been on Borden lately? We're in the area for a couple of days for a family get together. The kid and I might try and sneak out early and fish a bit. ETA: The kid wanted to sleep in so I got out solo this morning. Total dinkfest! Caught fish on deep weedlines with wacky worm, swimbait and fluke. Water is 78°
  3. Took the kid out the other day and she got her pb. The only fish we could get to bite were shallow. Could see fish on the graph out on the weedlines but they weren't buying what we were selling.
  4. I haven't fished one but I've handled one. Very light in the hand. Butt length is good. Maybe a touch heavy in the power for me. The Scheels in Eden Prairie, MN had a couple when I was there a week or two ago.
  5. Nice! Just bought a new jerkbait rod.
  6. Finally got out after having to work all last weekend. Was just gonna go for 2 hours (and then again today) but ended up staying out 6 hours. Frustrating beginning to the day with two very good fish shaking loose and then a 3 hour struggle to find anything biting. Had all the rods and baits put away and on the way back to the ramp decided to try one more steep weedline. It paid off! Caught 4 fish over 18" with the best being 19.5 and 4.3#. Second fish had this crazy gash. Still swam off strong. Water temp 64F.
  7. Was out for a bit chasing crappie today. Small south of the metro lake was 59 degrees today. Fishing was excellent! Lots of aggressive fish of all shapes and sizes.
  8. I was on Crystal down in Burnsville today for an hour or two getting the new trolling motor squared away. Water temp was 53.
  9. I don't have any gpsmap graphs but I have a couple echomaps and one ultra. IIRC the depth shading only shows up on the fishing chart, not the navigation chart.
  10. I use one for a frog rod. I love it. Launches frogs and I seem to have a higher landing percentage with it compared to other rods I've used.
  11. Any word on when the Met will be arriving?
  12. My current jig skipping rod doesn't have a soft enough tip so I'm thinking of replacing it. Anybody use the GLX 804c for skipping? I'm having a hard time finding any info on this rod. Thanks
  13. What did you end getting? I have to warranty one of my St Croixs and need a better punching rod.
  14. Catching some decent ones on the frog this week. South of the metro water temps have been around 75.
  15. Went to Wisconsin for a few days with an old fishing partner. We struggled pretty hard only catching a few brown ones a day. Back home now I went shore fishing yesterday and today. Lots of sunnies on beds and the bass are just inside the weed line. They were blowing up on the frog but couldn't pin any. Caught a couple on a chatterbait that I was popping off the bottom.
  16. I know the feeling! ?
  17. Finally got on a few better fish after catching about a thousand dinks this year. South metro lake, 68 water temp. Fish were in pads and under docks and were eating chatterbaits and swimbaits.
  18. Tried a new to me south metro lake today. Water temp only 61. Fish were very shallow and aggressive. Caught most on spinnerbaits and swimbaits near docks and pads. No giants but a very fun day!
  19. I've already canceled one trip. I'll be fishing close to home this year.
  20. Got out again Thursday and finally caught a couple up shallow. Didn't see any beds or damaged tails. 67 water temp and the very start of some green grass. Most fish that I caught were still out off the breaks in 10 fow.
  21. 65 degree water temp south of the metro this morning. Caught a couple 2-3 pounders and a bunch of pike/tigers. Back at it tomorrow. Gonna try some different things.
  22. All of the south metro lakes that I've checked in the last two days are open.
  23. We live on a very small lake south of the metro and our ice out was today. Hopefully the larger lakes will follow soon. Can't wait to get the boat out!
  24. 1/2oz War Eagle bumping off of the grass. Didn't have a scale but was probably a 4.5#
  25. Monday was tough for me too. Made me regret my last post. ? One fish in three hours for me. Winterizing the boat this week.
