  1. My father fished a lot as a teen and continued on up. He later married my mother who had an uncle who fished and the both of them fished a LOT. Once I was old enough he started taking me along and it grew since then. I had a few off years when I got more into dirt bike racing and cars/girls etc. but eventually came back in my later teens. Already introduced my youngest to it and constantly am asked to go fishing, which I try and do as much as possible. Attention span is about 30-45 minutes but its some of my best 30-45 minutes.
  2. Glad you are relatively OK and proved your vest worked. Also great you actually had it on! I almost went over twice myself to do the same thing. After the second time I now keep one of the larger gaterade bottles tucked away in the boat so I never have to deal with banking it or balancing on the edge. Just dump it and rinse it.
  3. My buddy's partner dropped out of a tournament and I got the call to fill in. Was shocked to hear it started at 730pm and weigh in was 230am. If I wasn't supposed to be up at the Crack of dawn to build a deck I'd have tried it.
  4. Well i spooled it up tonight. Won't get to try it until Saturday the earliest. Seems like it's quality but ill have to see how it does in the water. The color change in the line is pretty cool. Pink, 2 shades of blue, white and purple. If nothing else ill get to see what color shows the best for me.
  5. Got my annual week trip to Gaston this weekend. Thankful it looks like the temps drop to the 70s and 80s. Don't even care what it does to the fish at this point, at least ill be able to breath. It's actually been so bad this year it made me and the wife consider a relocation to PA.
  6. Bout time to respool my main jerkbait rod and this braid caught my eye. Was originally going to get my tried and true PPV2 slick or yozuri in blue. Was only 2-3$ more than PPv2 and the colors caught my eye. Feels very supple, more so than PP and just as slick without that wax feeling coating PP slick has. Anyone have experience with it? Only feedback I could find was 100# saltwater stuff.
  7. Sometimes I open my rod locker and stare into it for a while before shutting it in disgust and returning to the 4 rods I always use. Other times I open it and stare into it thinking of all the gaps I have in my lineup and what I should pick up next.
  8. I've stopped throwing topwater if I get no bubble trail. In my experience it has an extremely high predictability rate. No bubbles, RARELY any fish hitting top. Oddly enough I picked that up from a Fish The Moment youtube. Was probably no more than a passing comment on frogs but its worked out for me across all topwater.
  9. sure would be great if I was one of them fabled lizard people right now...
  10. Really enjoyed having him on this forum. He's the reason I have quite a few reels of Big Game right now and pay closer attention to my weights. Going to miss having him around for sure.
  11. BASS missed an opportunity to have an East and West division and have a showdown, top 10 or 20 boats from each side after the main season, best of 3 lakes takes the trophy to their coast for the year. Or do something similar to what Supercross does with their E/W groups in the 250s. This list showed me a new potential spot for fishing though. Never would have thought to try the Albemarle Sound's rivers right off the sound. Thought there would be too much brackish water to hold bass. Seems like they grow them pretty decent and I've always wanted to fish cypress trees which its apparently loaded with.
  12. If that guy ever found out it probably hurt more than the divorce.
  13. Constant struggle in life is telling the wife what my fishing and gun stuff is actually worth in case I die vs not telling her so she doesnt arrange an early departure from life for me.
  14. I read Page 1 yesterday but today skipped straight to Page 2....Id have seen that if I didnt 😂. If you could be selective about it and maybe only use 2 or 3 of your lesser secluded ones it might not be bad. I'd just hate to see you lose what you love.
  15. you fish a lot of remote spots and enjoy the untouched nature of your fishing holes. I'd be worried if you start guiding it would eventually kill one of the big aspects you enjoy about it so much. People WILL eventually start going to those places themselves.
  16. Idk what genre you listen to but Lzzy Hale from Halestorm has a great voice if you like rock. Just about all of my music is music most people I know dont have a taste for. Rock, Metal and Heavy Metal. Disturbed, Slipknot, Halestorm, Korn, Hollywood Undead, Nonpoint, Motionless in White, Shinedown, In this Moment, Motley Crue, Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, etc. etc.
  17. Fishing on a holiday or holiday weekend? I always say I wont, and mostly I dont...but sometimes I do and this scene plays out in my head the whole day.
  18. Only time I like catching a dink is if I'm about to skunk out for the day. Other than that no, I've caught weeds and sticks that put up bigger fights.
  19. Same, I PMed a mod and it was some key words that got flagged.
  20. Kittery 25%
  21. I've been using the wrapped on the pinky and using the rod tip for tension method. Very easy and gets a nice tight knot every time.
  22. Reading this thread I've learned you are all much better people than I am. My response would have been "Of course, just go back inside and you can have all the privacy you want in there".
  23. Just replaced my original front rotors and all 4 corners of brake pads after 136K miles. Still had a bit of life left in them. Aside from tires (1st pair went 75K and still on the 2nd pair) and regular oil changes thats the first bit of money I've had to put into my Toyota Tundra. Rear rotors measured 17.6mm after being cut. I'll be sticking with Toyota anywhere possible going forward.
  24. Not a topper like above but I've been extremely pleased with my DiamondBack cover. At the time I bought one they only had the SE and HD model in diamond plate and I bought the SE. Very secure and gives you the option to store stuff ontop of the cover, you go HD you can even transport a ATV on top of it. People put rails and tie downs on top and light kits inside, etc. Very easy to fold and secure half a panel to transport something tall and takes no more than 10 minutes to completely remove the top if needed. Its a one person job and all you need is one wrench or ratchet. Should transfer to another truck with similar bed size.
  25. FG knot always. Only use it on spinning 15# braid (PP V2 slick) 8 or 10# Inviz-X I run it so the knot is just in front of the bail when my lure is hanging at the casting length I like to see from the rod tip.
