Ain't that the truth. It would probably get me a few more, but I'm happy with my success last fall. My guide friend averaged four per day through that bonanza with FFS. I wasn't far behind with 24 in 7 trips without it. We took different aproaches and fished to our stengths. He and his clients mostly fished offshore, targeting fish feeding in the big shad schools, and caught a bunch that he located and targeted with FFS. I mostly fished structure from the shoreline out to the first break in main lake basins.

Who is the biggest bait monkey here
LOL. I get beat regularly by several monkeys. It's not limited to fishing. A couple weeks ago a new 5f11 Tweed Vibrolux showed up in my living room. That makes eleven amps in the current inventory, and an equal number of guitars. My 56 gun safe is also pretty dang crowded. I blame it all on my birth defect. I was born without a willpower, and the monkeys take advantage of my condition.

10-4. I keep in touch with it, but don't really have much tension on the line. Semi-slack is a good description. I have about as much faith in a blade as you have in a spinnerbait. LOL. I know they'll catch 'em though. I'm gonna try picking up the pace with it like Alex was fishing it this spring, If I can put that A-Rig down that is. My ability to do that after last fall's Muskiepalooza is questionable at best.

That's some good stuff right there brother!!! Congrats!!! I've never done well with blades either. I've always fished them like everyone says to, subtle lift and let fall to the bottom semi slack. I'm gonna have to try 'em like you're fishing them here. Thanks for the lesson. What's the water temp?

Test Your Braid!
That one was 43", but my goodness it had some girth. Between egg development and feeding on huge schools of gizzard shad, some of the females I caught last fall were absolutely obese. Back On Topic: I was throwing that A-Rig on either 50# 832, or 40# Fins Infinity, regular palomar knot, drags cranked down tight. Zero issues. The palomar has always been a solid knot for me with every type of braid I've tried. It's a simple knot that has consistently proven to be plenty strong. Both those braids have been very good for me as well.

Test Your Braid!
They'll bite right through braid, but they ain't biting through those A-Rig wires.

Are these numbers for real?
LOL. Saw an article this morning about Coca Cola getting sued over OJ contaminated with this same stuff. It's everywhere, ya can't avoid it. No point worrying about it. Eat fish, drink OJ, be happy. I'm gonna live forever anyway. ?

Are these numbers for real?
Uh oh... Looks like everyone better stop drinking OJ too.

Smallmouth excrete a chemical from their skin that smells like crawfish ?
My older cousin talked me into touching a nine volt battery on my tongue to see if it was good. IT WAS!!! LOL. That dirty bugger.

Alabama Rig
My "go to" is 1/8oz heads on the middle and bottom arms, and two dummies on screwlocks up top. This fishes well from 2' down to about 15'. I wouldn't run jigheads on the top two even if they were legal here. They just don't get bit, so no point in having two more hooks to snag.

Weight of Flippin weight?
I'd start with a beaver style bait on a flippin rig. 3/8 - 1/2oz, green pumpkin or black/blue depending on visibility. I agree with Phil on this. A beaver on a snelled flippin rig is great for this. It has a gliding spiraling action on the fall, if you let it fall with a bit of slack, up to about 1/2oz.

Rage bug and missile d bomb
That's the time period I really got hooked on 'em, especially on a flippin rig. I barely throw a jig in cover anymore, opting for the Sweet Craw on a flippin rig instead. I can fish that thing through the nastiest of stuff. I'll switch to a jig on offshore stucture.
