  1. Four dinks on the red eye again this morning. Ready for a pattern change. It was HOT by 8am
  2. Lipless Lwednesday doesn't flow quite as well as Topwater Tuesday. But I caught four dinks on my first four casts with a 1/2oz red eye. And then as soon as I could see sun rays hitting water it was over. Missed two nicer bites but that's just fishin
  3. We've had an above-average number of 105+ days this year, though 2011 and 1980 had longer streaks above 100. I'm hoping we peaked for the year last week with the 112 degree day ?? Lawrence, KS recorded heat index readings to of 133 Sunday, 134 yesterday, 123 today. That's beautiful ?
  4. I feel sorry for you guys in Kansas and the midwest...absolutely BONKERS heat indices of 130+ in some areas. It was 102 here today with a max dew point of 70 so index never got above 108. Chilly by comparison to the true center of the heat dome. Stay safe y'all
  5. Topwater Tuesday!
  6. Strike King hands down. Has caught 90% of my fish over 5#
  7. It's honestly my favorite thing to throw now, I can yeet it so far. I can still throw the lipless farther. But the 10XD is so much fun to throw. The wages of sin are death with that thing, though. I got one warning shot before it was hung up too bad to float out. I got maybe 50 casts in with it before the oopsie. Gonna have to adjust my reaction to getting stuck, I'm not used to floating baits. I can't even replace it before tomorrow because someone stole my bank info while I was snapping off the 10XD ?????? one of those times where I might as well put a $20 bill on a spoon as a trailer lol
  8. Got my first 10XD this afternoon. No pics, it's sitting at the bottom of the lake already
  9. Sounds like we're all having a Monday. Nice bass!
  10. Upon further inspection, this is why I think reels with the least amount of plastic will retain their value the longest is it usable like this? I was afraid of taking it apart at the lake so I haven't tried. But I get the feeling the imbalance may cause a problem
  11. ? As they say, it has to get worse before... it continues to get worse lol Killed my distance casting combo today, the mag brake inside my reel seems to have let go. Immediately engages. I hit a skunk on the way to the lake. Snapped off two 3/4oz red eye shad. I just blew through my record for most expensive week like the dang kool aid man. I really should have stayed in bed. Oh and I hooked one heavy fish. But my drag was loose and it got away. Felt like a 7+. PB gizzard shad for consolation prize. I'm straight up having a bad time lol
  12. That quicksand experience is what keeps me wary of wading too much in the silted up reservoirs we have here. I would love to do it more. Nice!
  13. Didn't get to stay as late as I hoped but that's OK. Did enough to keep the smell of skunk away for another day
  14. Depends on the season and time of day. Generally 30 minutes on either side of sunrise are my best topwater times but there are few if any absolutes in bass fishing. I have favorite seasonal baits and those usually get thrown first
  15. This will change where I throw craws...I know where the chara starts on my rip rap spots and that could be really valuable insight. It's interesting how the depth and light conditions seem to dictate where each the milfoil, chara, and long leaf pondweed grow in the same few acres
  16. Good job getting on them man, I know it was hotter than heck out there but you did it!
  17. If I'm on a boat I usually bring a Complete Cookie, maybe a small thing of jerky, a small gatorade, and a huge water. I don't usually stop long enough to finish it all but fueling the brain and body matters
  18. It's easier to fish through than the invasive milfoil, that's for sure. That milfoil will kill anything under 8lb line
  19. I wasn't sure if maybe the smell was off-putting to the aquatic life but that makes sense, it's for sure the last green thing I pull out of the water before it gets cold for realsies
  20. It was 111 officially here yesterday and I was out until 10am, over 100 by the time I left the lake. You can do it! But don't stay nearly as late as I did and bring twice as much water as you think you need. Gallon jug is a good plan. I'd be on the water at 6 and off by 9 if you can swing it. Or go in the evening if that can happen. But be inside between 10am and 630pm. Gonna be real humid where you're at
  21. Been pulling up a bunch of chara here, I actually kind of like the smell but I don't know how good of cover it makes. We have a problem with invasive milfoil at Ray roberts right now, there's places that it's so thick you can't throw anything but a frog. I try to collect it and leave it to dry out on the bank
  22. anyone tried a mag fluke on this?
  23. I joined too late to attend any official BR events but if I can make the $$ happen I'd be there for sure
  24. Had more fun with ned this morning, only two fish but my buddy kept the channel cat for lunch. A small spotted bass. To some degree I consider catching a 3-4lb channel cat in riprap on 8lb fluorocarbon a skilled move. Good for the ego, I needed that. Our other buddy caught a nice meanmouth out there too, they are limited in size in this lake since it's smallmouth × native spotted bass so a 12" one is impressive. Good times.

Just depends, but keeping your distance is good enough for the most part. I personally don't enjoy bank fishing in areas with many gators, I don't like having to look over my shoulder while fishing so they kind of ruin it for me. If I had a boat with a decent trolling motor I'd feel fine though. Wasn't a concern on Toledo Bend though we saw many.
