Thought I caught a Giant largemouth.
if I lived closer to a good striper lake I'm pretty sure it's all I'd fish for, they're so much fun

What is your most productive technique right now?
I have no idea what's going on at ray bob right now but it's completely shut off for me again since bass spawn. we're in early shad spawn I think, but I haven't been able to get a bass to take a lure since the middle of last week. very frustrating to be chased by a school of shad but not have any bass be interested.

No fishing for me.
I wish I had that good of an excuse...I can't buy a bite right now. Riding a five day skunk streak and my soul hurts

Water's in the mid 70s finally. Having a hard time finding em but still managed to pull out this 3.8. The only calm spot with fish in it also had beavers in it, and they were pretty pushy about being where I already was so I left lol

The one second-moment you'd wish you could have captured on film.
The best skip I've ever done with a fluke, it must have bounced eight or nine times. Twice twitches and a 4lb bass latches on. Felt like being in a youtube short.

are you retired? do you fish ALL the time?
This was kind of my approach when I started fishing for real in 2021 after my dad passed and I received his gear. I was 29 when that happened, 31 now. A lot more people I care about have passed young in the time since, and there are more coming unfortunately. I have only banned words for cancer. But I digress - sometimes I have to just make myself go do the thing and move before it'll click between mind, body, and activity. Some days it just doesn't happen. Being outside chasing bass and hiking (alongside ongoing therapy and medication) has been important to surviving the stress and grief plus pre-existing PTSD and associated disorders. Mental healthcare is really not discussed with much kindness sometimes despite its importance to maximal enjoyment of the life experience, it's good to see kind discussion taking place

Had a late night last night driving to DFW airport, so I only really worked in a drive-by today. Made one cast with a c rigged fluke and decided I didn't feel like fighting 25-30mph winds and a park near capacity for very long. Thankfully there was this tiny bass attached to it when I started reeling so I decided that was good enough. Tomorrow should have some nicer weather

Another solid 3, still looking for bigger fish but we'll get there. Had a couple little ones to go with. Flukes always money.

Well I got one Lost two that felt just as big, but they were hitting stupidly subtle today and only on the fall so I didn't set my hook in time. The breeze didn't help the linewatching. Still, keeps the streak alive for now. Had to leave due to sunburn setting in ??

The HYBRID bass.
Think sand bass with the size potential of stripers. They fight hard for their size 100%. I've only caught then up to 2lbs, I would love the opportunity to hook into one over 10. Sounds like an incredible fight

Thanks! I get lazy sometimes but I'm on a mission right now to catch some heavy bass. Still waiting on that last part to work out but I have faith in the fluke

I hacked my way through an acre of pure briar to get to this fish. Remarkable how many boats rolled up on us that far out. Even on weekdays Ray Bob is getting hammered right now. One guy asked how we got out there and I raised the machete lol Also if anyone has recommendations on how to repair the gloss finish on a rod, there was an errant swing today that stripped some clear off the back of my St. Croix ?? lessons were learned One of these days, it will be worth the messy hikes

Money comes and goes, rods and reels do too. We're only here a short time. I do also reserve the right to give him grief about it, but only once in a while ?

Interesting observation on reel sales
I have three lews, a shimano, and two daiwas. The thing that made me buy lews in the first place was the drag rating, consistently 20# versus 10-12# on most comparable shimano or daiwas. This isn't that important for bass, but I do occasionally target longnose gar, buffalo, and catfish that get much larger than most bass and the heavier drag does matter in those conditions. From what I can tell there is very little consistency even within the same models of reels, but Daiwas are the only ones I've consistently had to return for issues I couldn't fix (bearing screech on both an SV and an Elite). The Lew's get dry bearings kinda fast, you can tell because you start having to really work to reach the same cast distances - using a better oil seems to have more or less fixed this. The shimano...it just works. But it's also my most expensive reel (curado dc). I use a Tatula CT probably more than anything, but a lews tournament pro or XP is probably a close second.

He's my guitarist and a close friend, helped me replace it with nicer gear. I do miss that fuego, I had to chase that thing down to buy it in the first place. Would have been a perfect rig for these weightless flukes I've been throwing... I claim some responsibility for placing it in his range, though I did say "hey don't catch this on the backswing" maybe two minutes before he launched it. I was impressed by how well his gear handled it, first time I ever considered buying an Abu Garcia rod. Was supposed to be a momentary placement, but not like that LOL that's a pretty sight

Losing a combo hurts, i have a daiwa fuego somewhere in lake ray roberts. Won't ever forget that combo. I hadn't even caught a fish on it. Buddy caught it on the backswing and it was gone forever

Went exploring again today, hiked about a mile and a half each way to find boats in both places. Rough. Still, there's surely enough lake. Of course it's the place where my car is within casting range that I pull up a pair of nice fish and a couple of their smaller friends. That fluke as was also getting run by some sort of panfish that was up spawning Made a lot of eye contact with those little dudes. I think we were both confused at what we were looking at. Back out at the hunting lands with Country Time tomorrow to go get stabbed by briars and lose good fish ?

A small consolation prize for the two good ones I missed on either side of it. Went deep hiking into some public hunting lands around Ray roberts. Gonna go back again real soon ?

I do have a certain need for my plastics to be rigged as perfect as possible, I will rip off a plastic and put a new one on if I mess up on a jig or something with a baitholder on the head

Music on your boat ?
Love me some Van Halen in the mornings coming across the dam. Only sick-os and psychopaths bring bluetooth speakers to bank fish, so I have some cheap wireless earbuds for hockey games and such. I wear a bandanna that covers my ears up under my hat, so the risk of them coming out at a bad time is minimal. I think if I had a bass boat I'd have some speakers that got loud enough for me to hear when running in boat lanes. But I think I would want it juuuuust loud enough for me to hear it at the trolling motor after getting off plane. I want to hear blowups, van halen, and my own thoughts. These wake boaters who roll up to the ramp blasting R. Kelly make me want to steal their drain plugs
