  1. Plausible? More like accurate.
  2. So aging and memory loss is not always a bad thing. 🙂
  3. Below a dam is a perfect example.
  4. A long time ago, I used to keep solder in with my tackle and in a pinch would wrap solder around the hook just behind the head and under the skirt. If I needed deeper, a few more wraps; shallower I’d trim a wrap or two. Thank god for weights. I’d have to take out a second mortgage to buy solder today.
  5. It is remarkably easy to research a product. If I can’t establish the provenance of a brand to my satisfaction, I simply don’t buy it.
  6. You bet it works. And not only for depth. I do this pretty regularly to adjust for various flow rates on the river.
  7. Folks in the South have relied on cotton clothing to stay cool in heat for what, a couple centuries?
  8. Bass don’t see pink. And neither do bait manufacturers. When they make a pink bait, they see only green.
  9. That makes more sense. Maybe the sales person misunderstood me, or I misunderstood him or neither one of us knew what we were talking about.
  10. I don’t think Darnold can do a lot to help develop Milroe, but I think Jalen will be starting by mid-season anyway.
  11. Awhile back, I went to an industrial supply place to buy some of the pucks or tabs. When I mentioned I was planning to toss one or two into my tackle trays, the salesperson discouraged this saying they didn’t work well in small closed containers. It wasn’t very clear to me why this might affect its purpose, but I took him at his word and didn’t buy them. Would you have insight into why this might be true?
  12. Now that’s just plain cruel.
  13. Get yourself some silica gel packs. When you think everything is dry and are about to stow them in your bag, box or tray, throw in a couple or three gel packs.
  14. I’ve fished X Raps for at least 15 years, mostly in pretty harsh river environments, and have never broken a lip. I don’t believe them to be indestructible, but I would look for more likely explanations. One obvious one is bouncing it off rocks or other hard surfaces with the cast. Another is fishing it in water too shallow and plowing the bottom.
  15. Do you reel your baits tight to the rod tip after use?
  16. I have a rod with a tube tied on at all times when I’m on a river.
  17. I think you’re observing very efficient hunting/feeding behavior where cover is absent. Attacking perpendicular to the bank uses it to cut off the most obvious avenue of escape (away from the bass), and whether the baitfish swim left or right they are essentially the same distance away from the attacker. What is interesting is that spotted bass seem to be hunting in a ‘pack’. I’d be curious to know if when they turn toward the bank is there any separation among the 3 or 4 to create more panic among baitfish and expand their ‘strike zone’.
  18. So how many skirts have you put together so far?
  19. That’ll show ‘em.
  20. Not hard evidence but paths to the water, forked sticks left stuck in ground at water’s edge, and empty worm boxes might be a tell.
  21. Metallic Silver Chartreuse and Tennessee Shad.
  22. If it’s a stormwater retention pond definitely walk it first to look for signs. For commercial projects (industrial parks, schools, big box stores, retail spaces, etc) these are built to collect and store the additional runoff created by parking lots, building roof drainage, etc. You can imagine the chemicals from parking lots that find there way into it. Additionally, if near residential neighborhoods, there could be ongoing mosquito treatment occurring, and some of the treatments used can be toxic to fish.
  23. There is no code provided in the ad, so I don’t think so. The entire ad…
