  1. If I need the extra sensitivity, I go to trilene sensation. I admit that I use braid on almost all my combos, but people make it sound like mono is like lidocaine for fishing. It's not. I didn't have a problem feeling fish on mono back when it was all we had, and the marginally increased sensitivity of fluoro isn't worth the massive price tag. It IS more abrasion resistant than either, and if I were fishing around lots of rock, riprap, etc I'd use it for that.
  2. I think so, but that's my opinion. Fluorocarbon is a waste of money in my opinion.
  3. Magnesium frame vs al alloy, better centrifugal brake that is externally adjustable, carbon fiber handle, micro-adjustable spool tension, etc. Main gear in my reel is brass. Perhaps it's bc I got the HS version. The regular one is 4.75 oz. Maybe that accounts for the very slightly higher weight of the HS...the brass gear. I thought it was going to be aluminum until I took it apart to clean and service it, but it's clearly brass.
  4. I'd wanted one for a long time. Bps putting em on a big sale meant I couldn't resist. The HS version is just 5oz. Casts like a dream.
  5. I'd find the grass and start there. Working my way from sparse cover into the thicker stuff. This time of year, I'd be going more shallow, specifically shallow grass that has deeper water nearby.
  6. For the same price as the Curado dc right now, bps has the Abu Garcia Revo MGX on sale, which is an amazing reel. It's normally $350. Don't get me wrong,on very windy days fishing from the kayak, the first reel I reach for is the Curado. Any other time...the MGX, Revo SX, or Revo S will perform better and more smoothly.
  7. Yes they do...and they won't out-perform the tournament series. Pay more if you want, but the Garcia is the performance winner in the rods listed. Are you trying to say the tatula elite is better? Have you ever actually USED a Veritas tournament edition? I own both. The Garcia is the better rod. By far.
  8. They're nice, but heavy. I have a Curadi DC reel. It has its uses for sure, but they're heavy reels by necessity. Most of my Abu Garcia Revo reels out-perform it.
  9. I like the shad colored chatterbait, the white and chartreuse, and the bluegill colored one. That's the three I throw.
  10. Price range? I love my Abu Garcia veritas tournament edition rods. You cannot beat em at the $170-ish price point
  11. Tom, In every forum, there's people that just want to stir the pot. Ignore them.
  12. I like seeing other people's catches. Seeing people having fun is...fun. I video most of my significant fishing days, but catch a lot on days without the GoPro too, so I take pics of em.
  13. So they're polluting during their lead smelting. Thanks for the info...I'll avoid that brand.
  14. I like the reusable kind...not because I refuse it, but because it's easier to get off my line. To be honest, I buy whatever kind is the cheapest in the sizes I need, which lately has been the Water Gremlin brand. I forget what size I use lol! I typically only use split shot when catching bream under a bobber. Been doing it that way since I was a kid. Never worried about it damaging my line. I typically use 6 or 8 lb trilene big game for bluegill fishing.
  15. Wait. I've seen that article!!! That's you WRB?! And people are calling YOU a liar?! Lmfao! They're idiots ??
  16. Likewise. Practically every post I make is met with snide remarks, etc because I don't follow the herd. I do what works, and it obviously works well for me. I'm only 45, but I completely get where you're coming from. I don't let it get to me though, I usually find it funny when someone says some version of "you're doing it wrong", because I catch a hell of a lot of fish for someone who is doing it wrong. Plus, I'm not letting anyone steal my sport. MY sport. Fishing is what I do to forget the world...including the naysayers. Keep your joy of fishing close to the chest my man. I certainly enjoy your stories for sure. If someone reads what someone else took the time to post and calls them a liar, them it simply means they're not good enough to compete with you. If they can't believe the catches you're making with regularity, then that says a lot about you as a fisherman
  17. 10lb moss green Hercules braid direct to the hook.
  18. I have two. Need rig or a Texas rigged pit boss. Either one pretty much any day.
  19. I still use plenty mono line...usually BG or XL.
  20. I use braid without a leader. Hercules 8-strand no-fade. I order it from Amazon. Great stuff.
  21. I used the hammer hog in sun perch color today to catch two decent fish. It's post spawn down here, so the fact they hit it is pretty impressive. First time I ever tried them despite having a bag of them for like a year lol! The plastic is pretty darn durable I have to say, and it smells of anise despite being in the water for an hour. Definitely higher quality than I'd expect. I'd buy another bag if they sold them here, but the only thing I see is "out of stock" and I can't order them.
  22. As an actual Cajun, I hate it when people "steal" the name... Cajuns are people descended from those kicked out of the Nova Scotia area of Canada by the British, not just anyone from Louisiana, and certainly not people of other ethnic backgrounds who just happen to live here. It looks like the rods are made in another state anyhow.
  23. I use a pelican kayak. It's been my go-to fishing boat for the past three years. Most SOT kayaks don't have much of a side wall, which is something I appreciate about my Pelican Catch. The sidewalls are tall enough to store my lure boxes against and I get get swamped by passing boats.
  24. +3 I have several. Also, the Vendetta LTD from Abu. Those Winn grips are soooooo so comfortable for all day fishing.
