  1. Ok so now I know that my boat weighs 1425 but how much do you think my trailer weighs. It is the same trailer that came with the boat new. Thanks, Jenga
  2. I need to get a new vehicle for my wife but I would like to get something that will tow my 93 20 skeeter bass boat with a 200 merc. I don't know how much the boat and trailer weighs but I can't believe it is more then what a new one would weigh and that is somewhere in the 3500 lb range with trailer I believe. I of course would like to get something that also gets decent gas milage. Just wondering what you guys may think. I mainly fish Lk. St. Clair and only have to drive about an hour. Thanks for you help. Jenga
  3. Yeah I will be there at least once every week starting as soon as the C and R season starts. I can't wait. Mid may is probably the best time to go but weather can be tough. Ive been out there in 4 footers when hours before it was glass. Make sure you have a boat that can handle tough weather. Good luck. Jenga
  4. I would plan your trip for sometime in May or early June. As of boat rentals there are only a few. I think that Jimmy's boat rental is a 14 ft. with a 25 hp on it and you can only use in Anchor Bay. I know that I will be out every week from ice out til Aug depending on weather. If you want a guide I would highly recommend Gerry Goestnick he is the local pro but very expensive. You should also check out lakestclair.net they have info for everything on their website. If you can't rent or hire a guide I will be more then willing to take you out. Jenga
  5. I have a 93 skeeter and the black bumper on the side of the boat is sticking out. I asked my mechanic if it was a major problem and he said that it wasn't it is from hitting the waves hard and some of the screws are coming out. He told me to take off the black rubber bumper and move the screws that were poping out over a few inches and fix ones that are loose. He also told me that it was a tedious work and it would cost around 500. Is that what causes the screws to come out and is that all I have to do to fix the problem. Thanks, Jenga
  6. No but I am so busy with other things and the fishing has been really tough so I decieded to put the boat away. If I fish it will be from shore. Jenga
  7. Well went out last Friday for about 3 hours and got two fish one smallie and one bucket. My brother got skunked(he caught one that was dead in the water) and the other guy we took out (can't remember name) got blanked as well. Im the better angler so that is why I caught some. I am done fishing for the season it. Now I can't wait for snowmobiling. Jenga
  8. Nibbles, Hey I would of given you some info if I would of looked the night before. Sorry, I went out on sat and it was brutle. I launched then came right back in, and went up to anchor bay. It was really muddy and windy, I got one smallie that was maybe 1.5 lbs. How did you do in the big ten tournament. Jenga
  9. goin out on saturday. I will report back how I do. I think this is going to be a good weekend for fishing. Water temp is 62 and we had a lot of rain so it should cool things down even more I think. Jenga
  10. Went out yesterday and fished near the nine mile tower in 12 to 10 fow. The wate temp was 63 degrees at surface temp. I ended up catching 5 all 2.5 to 3.5 lbs we also caught a nice meal of perch that my buddy took home. I caught 3 two on KVD's spinnerbaits and 1 on golden shinners. The wind was brutal so I only fished for about 3.5 hrs. Hope this helps. Jenga
  11. I haven't had much success in the fall but I have heard from people that it is a good time. Im just so busy I can't get out much during that time of the year. Jenga
  12. St. Clair is one of the best in the country. As of guides there gostnick is good but very expensive. Your best bet is to find someone to take you out. I would be more then happy to. Jenga
  13. I like to fish Lk. St. Clair and have heard that the channels are turning on for the smalies. I have never fished a river before and was wondering how to fish it. Do you normally just drift with the current or anchor to stay in one spot. Couldnt you face the bow of your boat into the current and put the trolling motor down on high and stay in one spot that way as well to fish a certain area. Any help on how to fish a river would be great. I have a 20 ft skeeter if that helps at all. Thanks, Jenga
  14. I have the motorguide pro series 70lb thrust. I fish Lk. St. Clair alot and have problems with it turning when waves hit the boat. I have to keep my foot on the pedal all the time to keep it straight. I have seen other people using their trolling motor and it seems as though they are able to stay in one spot with out touching the foot pedal. Can someone tell me why this is. Jenga
  15. The only reason why my brother and I drove to fish Erie was because my cousins live in Maryland and it is half way between us to meet up and fish. So we gave it a try for two years and now we won't go back for awhile. There are a ton of spots I would like to try like torch lk and Grand lake and traversbay area as well for smallies. They are a lot closer to home so maybe we will try those next year. The other thing that sucks is while I was out in Erie. LSC was on. Jenga
  16. I am sure I would improve as I fished it more. When I first started fishing LSC I didn't do so well. But now I can go and catch fish everytime I go out. I know I will give Erie a try again just wont be for awhile. Jenga
  17. I have the same unit and have no problems with the the actual unit but the second time out the transducer mount broke. Why would they make it out of plastic. for a 1000 dollars they should make it out of stainless steel. Jenga
  18. Im sure erie is a great smallie fishery. But I only live 45 min from Lk St. Clair and I think I can catch as big of fish there as I can in erie. Plus it seems that PIB smallies are really small. Im not going to make the drive anymore when I can catch the same thing only 45 min. away. Jenga
  19. I have twice. Both times have sucked. I went on May 20th - 22nd and didn't do so great. I caught fish in the bay but not any of size. I tried the lake but couldnt get any thing to bite. If I were to fish the bay again I wouldn't target smallies i would go after largies. Jenga
  20. Where did you fish. When I was there fishing was really hard. I drove 6 hrs and didn't catch much. Everyone I talked to that weekend said that fishing was tough on erie. When I got back I fished LSC and caught alot of smallies in 4 to 5 fow most were 3 to 4 pounds. Jenga
  21. Yep, just got back from Erie on Sunday. Fished between the cribs all the way to the W's. Did not catch one fish in Erie. Caught all my fish in the bay. I saw a bunch they just wouldn't bite anything. I threw everything I had at them, even put a jerkbait right in front of a bass and it didn't want it. I even tried live bait and that didnt work. I don't think I will ever try Lk. Erie again (at leaste near Erie PA). I might try closer to home. But I can tell you one thing I have fished Erie twice and from what I can see Lk. St. Clair is way better. Jenga
  22. Thanks for the reply. Let me how you did. I will be leaving on Thursday morning to come it is about a 6 hour drive. I will check back oftern. Thanks, Jenga
  23. also could someone tell me what depth they should be in. Thanks, Jenga
  24. I am leaving on Wed. next week to do some smallie fishing on Lk Erie. I am planning on staying at Lampe Marina Campground and fishing the lake mostly unless the weather moves us into the bay. I have heard to try near the Cribs and Shades beach area. Just wondering if it would be better if I fish near walnut creek or elk creek which is on the other side of the bay. Also if anyone can give me advice on what the fish will be doing that would be great. Last year I came in the end of April and they seemed to be on beds just wondering if you think they may still be on beds or have they moved off. Any help would be great. Thanks, Jenga
  25. yep it flushes every 7 days i think. jenga
