  1. Stradic and a Sedona as a backup.
  2. Depending on how much you want to spend, I love using my BPS Extreme XPS 6'6 M for drop shotting and shaky heading. Feels great, sensitive and all, and has a pretty solid back bone.
  3. Plain and simple, if you have the money, get the Stradic, if it's a bit too pricey, get the Symetre. You'll be happy either way!
  4. Do you do it? I read something where not only does the guy shorten the weed guard he also fans out the remaining guards. Does anyone here do that? Does anyone trim the skirts as well, if so how far back?
  5. If I'm not mistaken, that's the Swimming Senko, not the actual swimbait... That's what I'm talking about.
  6. Hey guys, I was looking in the Summer BPS Catalog and saw the GYCB Swimbait. I'm not sure how new it is or anything, but I just happened to come across it. How good is it? How does it compare to other brands? I'm looking to start throwing the plastic swimbaits where you need to insert the jig head type hooks into them. What are these called if they have a specific name? What are the heads called that go on these types of baits?
  7. NICE BASS! Always fun to get a PB. Congrats!
  8. I'd say shimano. I've never owned a Quantum, but Shimano is leading favorite on this site (See other thread). Shimano Symetre I've heard good things about for the $75-$80 price range. If you can afford the Stradic that would be my for sure definite pick. I love my Stradic and dont' have a single complaint.

This is what I have been trying to get the hang of for the past month now and have come a LONG way sense I first started. The tap tap is the easiest to detect, obviously. Just recently I have begun to set the hook when I feel resistance though, and many times this has resulted in a fish of decent size. It's tough though when there's tons of weeds and stuff in the lake you fish because I feel resistance 90% of the time. It's ironic that you post this when I've been dealing with the same issue and really trying to master this one part of fishing.
  10. Go look in the fishing tackle section. There are TONS of these threads up regarding Senkos and Senko knockoffs.
  11. I say go in the mid range. You don't need a $200 reel and a $200 rod to catch bass, or even to catch big bass. There are many great deals at BPS or Cabelas and such that sell great combos for $100-$150. I just got a shimano Stradic and a BPS extreme rod both sell regular for $100 or so, for $120 and absolutely love it. No you don't need to spend tons of money on rods and reels. Just make sure you use the rod / reel how it's meant to be used. Follow the specs and you're fine.
  12. First let me explain about my spot that I've been fishing in the last fish outings I have posted. I'm fishing from one dock, and for 10-20ft out from the dock in ALL directions is HEAVY weeds up to the top of the water. This makes it near impossible to bring in solid fish. Started off normal, 12in bass on a jig, then little taps on the shaky head, catch a few under 10 inches.. Roughly an hour into fishing I'm jerking a screwing around with a grub and BAM I load into something NICE, took out more drag then I'd ever witnessed in my life. After a good 10 minute fight, a catfish surfaces, and I look to see I foul hooked in the face. I used a net to pull it out and BEND the d**n net bent. The picture was horribly taken as this cat was around 8lbs (Says to catfishers on the same dock I was fishing). The catfish had a GIGANTIC head when it laid on it's stomach, but these pics make it tough. I tried to put my foot in there to show a comparison but didn't want to put my foot down next to it, so my foot is about a foot and half off the ground making my foot look bigger and the fish look smaller. 20 minutes later I hooked what looks like a solid 2-3lb bass (it jumped twice) that hangs up in the weeds, and I play the waiting game. After 20minutes I just pull and to my surprise fish off. Hour after that, I'm getting ready to leave and I'm fooling around with my shaky head again not paying much attention and bam I'm hooked up with what looks like a nice fish over 3lbs. ONCE AGAIN, fish shoots into weeds 10 feet from the dock. I play the waiting game, 30 minutes go by and I'm tired, hungry, and I said screw it. NOTE: I HAD JUST SPOOLED UP WITH Yo-Zuri ultra Soft #6 (Thank you RW FOR THE ADVICE!!!!). I have lost 6 solid fish over 2lbs and up to 4lbs or so due to getting caught in weeds and breaking off. I pulled on my line assuming I would break off like usual and go home sad. NOPE, I pulled him straight through all of the weeds to land a nice looking fish.
  13. 6 and 7 inch senkos are best for wacky rigging if you want better quality fish.

EXACTLY! My head looks strange and so does my shirt a bit.. Not sure what caused the camera to do that, but it does look strange. Good thing I've posted other pictures so you guys know I don't have a deformed head ;D Then again there's nothing wrong with a mis shaped head.

Haha, fortunate for me the guy I fish with has a scale. I only fish with him once a week on weekends though, so I need a scale for the other 2-3 times I fish during the week.
  16. Dang nice looking fish guys!

Haha, I'm no midget, I'm 5'11 that picture just looks weird, makes my head look mis shaped. The dang tail was cut out of that picture too bad it was a pretty nice fish. I was only out there for 5hours ;D

Went fishing with my bud today and had a nice day. 1 3lb bass for each of us (both just a hair of 3lbs.)) Then a few more 2lb+ bass for the each of us. Not the worlds best day, but twas a fun day. Here's a few pics. Buddy Mikes fish:
  19. If you can get the stradic 2500 , by all means, GET IT. If I find one for between $50-$75 i'm buying another one.
  20. I'm not sure if this is just me, or if people get into the same "Habits" (for lack of a better word) as I do. I will fish one way 90% of a fishing trip for a few months at a time, then switch to something new. Ok, so for a good 3 months I was fishing a wacky rigged senko the majority of the time with the occasional super fluke.. Then for the past 2 months now I've been fishing almost exclusively shaky head, with the occasional grub. I just recently started throwing a jig and now that's all I can think about throwing! I haven't thrown a Senko AT ALL in probably a month or two now. I pretty much only throw a shaky head still, but now starting to throw a jig. Do you guys get into phases like this? Or are you pretty good about spreading the lovin around to a variety of baits?

At least you had a scale to know that it's your personal best! It's most important that you saw the fish, you weighed the fish, and now have a clean nice personal best! I wish I forgot my camera but had a scale ;D
  22. Man, there's nothing that makes me happier then catching a nice bass on a new technique, especially one that I have tried on and off for a year, but just recently read up on and now right away I catch a nice fish. It's only once a month that I catch a fish over 5lbs so of course I get happy! ;D And no problem for the help, there's tons of guys who help me so much I couldn't even begin to thank everyone. That's what this site is for
  23. Haha, I bet it is! That's a beauty. I guess that's true though, as I said the scale was an old piece of junk that read 5 but easily could have been off as it was rusty and disgusting some 12 year old had it in his tackle box. It sucks that I don't have a scale, now I just have to catch a 7 quickly and weigh it so that there's no debate about my PB!
  24. Thank you sir, and I'm ordering a Rapala Scale asap! My first best investment was a net a month ago, I haven't lost a fish sense except for when they get tangled in weeds and junk, no break offs at the dock! Now my second best investment will be that scale, it's about time I get one. Thanks guys for the kind words, I'm excited.
  25. Haha, it's worth something to me! It makes me want a scale even worse now though, knowing that it could have been a PB, or even close. You guys convinced me on getting a scale. and Doc.. That place looks amazing to fish! I wish I had places like that. All I have is the d**n over fished Reservoir >
