  1. I'm right there with ya husker, I've had very little luck out there but have heard many good things about its bass.
  2. I fished Tuttle Creek this afternoon just to see if bass existed out there ;D I caught 1 nice 14"er pretty far south on the lake in a very clear water cove (for a muddy lake) on a blue fleck worm. Once I moved north and ran into murky water I had no luck. Some great looking stuff on the lake, I just need more time to find better spots. Bonus- The big Gar are on the prowl and are hitting absolutly anything you throw in front of them, I landed my biggest fish of my life today with a 20+ lb. gar ;D ;D ;D
  3. I like the sound of the 24V with around a 65 # thrust TM. Now the problem is making room for another battery! It will most likely require a minor shift in the fuel tank They don't happen to make a battery that is a few inches thinner than the normal bettery width do they? (The shorter length, not the length that runs from + to -)
  4. Thanks jb. Just to compare, I was looking at how high a 12V TM will go and about the highest I found was 55 pound thrust for a 12V. Say I got the 55 # thrust/12V trolling motor, do you guys think that its battery life would get through a windy day fishing or would you recommend I buy another battery regardless (and therefore just get the 65 # thrust linked to above)?
  5. You might want to check and see if the water your fishing has fish in it ;D
  6. Thanks for the info MH, I'll dig through past threads. Any link to that Minn Kota All Terrain deal? I looked and couldn't find it. Thanks
  7. Ok, I'm getting the sense that I should really look at going to 24V. Like I said I am not too knowledgable about all this so stupid question time... to get 24V will I just need two 12V batteries or do they have a single 24V battery out there?
  8. PM sent The boat is 16', fiberglass, with a 70 hp yamaha. Thanks for the responses, keep em coming...
  9. The trolling motor that's currently mounted on my boat just isn't getting the job done very well and I'm in the market for a new one. What pound thrust would move around a 16 foot bass boat well? Keep in mind that I'll be fishing in Kansas were the wind routinely kicks up to 25+MPH. I'm not too knowledgeable on all the battery stuff but the ones that's in there right now is 12V. I'd like a trolling motor that gets the job done but doesn't eat up the battery (I've only got 1 TM battery and no charger for it). Any inputs as to a brand are welcome too. Thanks
  10. 4.8 lbs. I like to leave some room for improvement... Last weekend(ish) on a 5" green pumpkin Strike King ZERO
  11. I'm with the others about the engine. I put a brand new motor on my boat a couple years ago and trust me, its a great feeling knowing that your boat will always start when you want it to.
  12. I like Bassin' and Bassmaster Times personally. I like all the info in Bassin' and I like the layout of the Bassmaster Times and its coverage of a lot of the tournaments. I like how they really go into detail about how each tournament winner did what they did, and they go into details.
  13. My Dad started me when I was 3. At age 4 we moved and lived on a lake. My mom wasn't much into fish so she wouldn't let me fish during the day because my Dad was gone at work and wouldn't be able to help get fish off the hook. So by age 5 at taught myself how to manage fish and in return could fish whenever the heck I wanted!
  14. 3 of my 5 tournament rods are split grip and I love 'em just because of the looks ;D
  15. I fish some small streams and float rivers in my Dagger Blackwater 12.5 and love it. To make it easier I outfitted my yak with the following: My tackle bag, velco's onto the top bugee cords http://www.seallinegear.com/deck_bags.asp?Action=DeckBag&Category=DeckBags Map holder, snaps onto the tackle bag and flips up and out of the way when I want to get into the tackle bag. http://www.seallinegear.com/cases.asp?Action=MapCase&Category=ProtectiveCases Waterproof bag for wallet, cellphone, keys, other personal stuff http://www.seallinegear.com/cases.asp?Action=DryCase&Category=ProtectiveCases Storage bag, mostly for overnight trips, long and thin so it fits way up into the bow of the kayak http://www.seallinegear.com/dry_bags.asp?Action=KodiakTaper&Category=DryBags 2 rod holders, small and simple, each on opposite sides of the tackle bag http://beereadyllc.com/asccustompages/products.asp?cartID=&affID=&categoryid=6&navParent=2 Sprayskirt, keeps out drip from the paddle, rain, waves, or even snakes from getting in ;D http://www.mountainsports.com/images/121452.jpg Paddle leash, a must if you plan to fish! http://www.fkpwarehouse.com/Catalog/StoS/kbl801.jpg
  16. I voted finesse jig but a got a few different "fish finder" baits. In shallow water with mostly wood I'd go with a 5" senko, in just about any depth water with mostly rock I'd go with the finesse jig. The spinnerbait is a classic fish finder but they don't do much for me.
  17. I love watching my line on a weightless senko jump when a fish hits it, gets me goin' every time Also, topwater poppers get my vote as well.
  18. Thanks bobo, I'll give it a try.
  19. I've always liked Tommy Sanders with ESPN Outoors.
  20. That angling-technologies website doesn't seem to work for me. It won't let me pan across the map to center the area I want to zoom in on making it pretty much useless.
  21. When buying batteries I have always went with the idea that the heavier one is always better, not sure if its the case 100% of the time but it can't be far off, my reasoning: The lead inside the battery is what holds the charge. Lead is very heavy compared to all the other materials used in batteries. Logically, the heavier the battery, the more charge it will hold.
  22. I caught a bunch of River smallmouth this past weekend on the Gasgonade River in Missouri. I threw craw cranks and hula grubs but only caught fish on a #4 Mepps in-line spinner, black/orange.
  23. The afternoon of a sunny, hot day in the middle of the summer... on a topwater....I never would have guessed that. Add to that it was in the center of my lake with no structure for a good 500 ft. whos knows what that bass was thinkin
  24. I'd like to get a 7+ lber this year. Anything over 7 is just gravy ;D
