Heat shrink tubing...
I'm a purist that uses refuses to apply any sort of contraption to the worm to keep it on the hook. A purist that uses every knock off imaginable. Heat shrink is a good idea. It's the sideways hook that gets me with the o rings. Can't being myself to do that

Why you should never go fishing without a spinning rod
What experience do you have with bfs gear?

Maxscent question
Aren't these basically gulp light? I would think they would dry out if left out of the package.

Does my rod suck, or is just not right for what I'm using it for
I once had a guy brag that he casts like swinging a golf club. He uses spinning reels.

What is the cheapest 100% Fluorocarbon line in market?
If I broke off 2 7lbers on the hookset I would stop using that type of line and would re-evaluate my hooksets. Fluoro just can't take repeated hard hammerings without plastic deformation I have found so I have dialed back on my hooksets, reduced drag, retie my line frequently since I started using fluoro and all my problems went away. I only bubba cross the eyes hookset anymore with mono to combat all that stretch. Big game mono has become my preferred top water and leader line of choice. No more fluoro leaders for me. All that force being transfered to a few feet long section of fluoro just beats it up and deforms it. I still like it as a main line though.

Anyone use quantum smoke s3 pt baitcaster?
How does it stack up diatwncs wise to your catalina tw? They in the ballpark?

Hunting chatterbaits and trailers
This was my thought as well. Seems to line up with my observations too. To plug some forum sponsors, the 3/8 oz fogy and caffeine shad pairing work well. Hunts and spirals on the fall.

Why you should never go fishing without a spinning rod
I'm just amazed it hasn't turned into an Ambassadeur thread. Thats what happens to eveey thread when finesse bait casting gets mentioned.

Why you should never go fishing without a spinning rod
I went to big baits. I think I just jumped icebergs.

Why you should never go fishing without a spinning rod
You are at the tip of the fishing iceberg. The "baitcasters can't cast light weight baits" and "tackle warehouse" zone. At the bottom are guys fishing 1 gram trout magnets and buying everything from Japan.

Why you should never go fishing without a spinning rod
Farther than I mean too. Spent yesterday casting 1/16 oz drop shots onto rip rap. Then going up to the rocks to get my rig back. Had to turn the brakes up a bit.

Anyone use quantum smoke s3 pt baitcaster?
What's the casting distance on these like on the s3 acs reels? Looking for a cheap aluminum frame frog bomber and the s3 accurist pt goes for fuego ct money.

What is the cheapest 100% Fluorocarbon line in market?
Probably some ali stuff. Like Jack Fish or whatever else is on there. It's big game cheap. Always have to be suspicious that it's not just fluorocarbon coated or even a nylon and "fluorocarbon" is not just the name. I roll the dice on stuff from that site all the time but line is one thing I stick to local store for. Maybe I am missing out. The whole world seems to buy their line there.

Hunting chatterbaits and trailers
Is there any combination of trailer and chatterbait that causes hunting? My fogy charterbaits will hunt with a kvd soft jerk on them but won't with a gogan rage craw as a trailer. It seems like the trailer is part of the equation. I've also heard of guys rigging a boot tail as a trailer with an emphasis on rigging it upside down. No explanation as to why though. What combinations of chatterbait and trailer have gotten that erratic hunting action for you?

BFS questions
Don't have any spool tension. There should be enough slack line on the cast to allow for a vertical fall. If you want more you can just push the thumb bar and the bait will peel line off the super lightweight spool. I do all my neds and drop shots on casting gear. Also a true bfs rod is going to have enough power to move a bass around cover. The key is to get a rod meant for bass and not a trout casting rod.

Walmart lews rods as a frog rod?
The white ones with the green handle. They seem like a stiffer tip MH to me.

Me too. Just waiting on the prices on these to drop. I want a black zillon g for jdm zillon money.

Why you should never go fishing without a spinning rod
Darn I've been missing out by not bringing a spinning rod. I guess I'll just keep throwing those same baits on casting gear.

Is it possible to cast too Hard?
This has been an interesting read. I have been practicing the techniques in this thread and I can't say that my distance has increased. If anything the emphasis on smooth casting has decreased my distance. A couple observations: My magnetic reels can achieve 90% the same distance with less brake and a softer cast. This was a great discovery. My centrifugals DEFINITELY cast further with a hard cast. My hard cast centrifugals beat out my magnetic when hard cast or soft cast in distance. Yeah, you can definitely cast a magnetic reel too hard. A centrifugal reel? I'm not convinced.

Shimano SLX MGL vs Tatula SV TW
Some baits just don't skip well on 15 lbs flouro. Throw the baits that get bit and not the ones your choice of line and rod will allow you to skip. A light wacky head and trick worm was my go to this spring skipping docks. I threw that on 10# flouro.

Walmart lews rods as a frog rod?
For jigs and plastics for sure. I had a lfs I bought because of all the reviews of it "casting a mile" and was pretty disappointed. It wanted to overbrake or backlash depending on the settings when casting a frog. Never could get it dialed in right like a centrifugal reel to really fly out there. I wish they had the brake from the tournament pro lfs in a $100 reel.

Daiwa Zillion at Amazon Japan?
Doesn't Amazon Japan require a 3rd party like buyee? I would just get one from the usual suspects.

Because many report their aluminum steez gears get buzzy after a lot of use over years. Luckily brass gears from the zillion g drop in. Buzzy gears are still functional gears but when you drop $300+ on a reel its nice to have it feel like butter and stay that way. Any who, the 22 zillon HD is a black zillion g with a longer handle, eva knobs, magZ boost spool and black paint.

Walmart lews rods as a frog rod?
I was handling some walmart lews rods in MH casting and noticed that they have stiff, slower loading tips and pretty stiff back bones. They were the lews xfinity MH and hank parker MH. I've handled lews rods that were part of the crush combos and those MH always felt super soft and cheap. These two walmart rods are leagues better. The tip on these two rods reminds me of a H powered rod which has got me thinking that they might make for a pretty good budget frog rod and a cheap metal framed centrifugal reel. I like the classy look of the hank parker and a lews tournament pro lfs would look great on there but those run $150 at cheapest. The goofy white and green xfinity is appealing too but looks weird. Maybe if I stuck a green or white reel on it might work for me. Oh well I'll probably get one of them and use it as an excuse to try a new reel from a brand I normally don't mess with. Probably a goofy green reel from 13 or Quantum.
