  1. Costal 150 wasn't called a tatula either but it is a blue tatula.
  2. There is nothing wrong with chucking it harder to get more distance. Just bring the brakes up a bit so you don't blow up the spool. The reel has a non-linear braking profile unlike other magnetic reels so turning the brakes up won't choke it off as bad at the end as a regular magnetic reel. Still I find that the elite long cast is more of an effortless caster than a real distance caster. I've turned the brakes up and casted harder but it really doesn't do much better than a lower brake setting and a smoother cast.
  3. Okumas are banax. The other doyo. They did team up with dream tackle or whoever to design the spool. I think it's cool even if it uses a banax platform. I'll also add that the gilly has little flaps on the side of the bait that induces the swimming motion and that's key to the baits action. The bait it is based on does not have this so I would consider this innovation even if the same flaps are found on other baits.
  4. I'm seeing more of these stumps for grips on rods. Are they meant just for angler that palm the reel when casting? A normal cast would have you holding the blank.
  5. Supposedly. Everyone that has put their zillion boost spool in their steez seems to say it performs better in the steez. Not a lot of feedback on how the magZ boost performs in the steez but it should certainly do better woth long casting heavier baits than the stock spool by virtue of it being a higher cap boost spool.
  6. You want the magZ boost spool. The 34 mill hlc isn't as well liked as the 36 mil hlc spools.
  7. Interesting. I cast my magZ and centrifugal reels the same since magZ uses centrifugal brakes anyways. The centrifugal brake that extends the brake rotor is what makes it magZ over magforce. I really only alter my casting stroke with regular mag brakes because if I power cast I have to increase the brakes which then make them seem choked off at the end so I find I do better with less brakes and a smooth slow cast with them. With my magZ its the same as my centrifugals. Over the shoulder and let it rip. This this is why I think the OP needs to check that they haven't ran the line under the bar on the tatula because it really shouldn't be any different from his shimanos in casting. My tatula elite isn't.
  8. Are you saying we shouldn't have any wrist movement in the cast and swing with our wrists locked? The only thing that "jerks" on the cast is the wrist action. I don't understand what "jerk" is supposed to be.
  9. Did you run the line under the bar in front of the t wing?
  10. You won't get a us warranty because its not a usdm rod. You would have to buy that model through a us megabass retailer that has imported it to the states like the tackle trap if you want a jdm model with us warranty. You'll pay a lot more because you are paying the us price with is much higher than the Japanese price and most us retailers pretty much sell at msrp. So yes its legit and the cost savings is from a favorable exchange rate and heavy sales these vendors offer however you won't get a us warranty.
  11. I would buy a reel that can skip that worm under that tree. That's a requirement for me with anything that is going to be casting at the shore line.
  12. I'd get an aluminum silver long arm star, clicker and then an aluminum chinease handle then polish that up and run it with a red lock plate, silver nut and two of the old I style knobs in black but cork woukd also look sharp. Spool wise I hear the stock is ok one out of a 100m TD-Z, zillion pe specials, hlc or rays studio finesse spoolare the ones to get. Stock spool is kind of heavy and for 3/8 oz and up.
  13. If you have to ask this question then that means you get the lews.
  14. What's the casting like on the new HD? Does it have more braking avaliable for handling heavier baits?
  15. The price difference is quite large. You can slap an entire gomexus handle with tpe knobs on and still come out ahead with the jdm.
  16. In what way? I was looking at them and was dumbstruck to see that they are $60 and have an 18 gram spool. For a plastic, magnetic brake only reel that also somehow manages to weigh over 7 oz. I wanted the STX one for a silver and orange lews rod but that one is $80. I know Putins Price Hike made fishing reels expensive in 2021 but I can get an aluminum frame reel with maybe even a centrifugal brake for not much more than what abu wants for a max x. Maybe I am stuck in the past but I feel like I should pay the $40 I paid for my old max 3 at my local walmart. Even with inflation there has been tremendous advancements in cheap high performance fishing reels and prices have actually dropped if you have been lurking the chinease amazon site over the past few years I mean, the academy mettle is $50 and it has an aluminum frame and centrifugal brake.
  17. That's a good point. My comment is more of a reflection of a recent purchase by a fishing buddy that uses all loomis rods. He broke whatever their $300 stick is and bought a conquest as a replacement. He loves it and his reasoning was "it was the best" and the why was something like "well it costs so d**n much". I thought about revealing my power level of the dark side jdm tackle but that might have been a downer.
  18. Tournament Pro LFS. The brake on that reel and 10 gram spool are what make the reel.
  19. That's the real deal top tier rig right there. This probably blew a bunch of loomis minds.
  20. Maybe that seat is made for round reels with the the thin steel reel foot? That trigger and seat looks like the kind you would find on stream trout casting rods. Would explain why a fat aluminum or plastic reel foot wouldn't fit all the way.
  21. The conquest bfs is tiny. Also it's a conquest so it's super smooth and precise feeling. It's just a nicer feeling reel than an aldebaran. Some people will gladly pay more for the conquest over an aldebaran so it exists. There are also trout rods with a traditional appearance that the round reels pair with nicely. Short answer is that its a nice thing and looks cool. That's it.
  22. A mil or two of up an down movement of the plastic thumb bar is normal. It is just slid over the clutch lever.
  23. Ditch the senko and get a literally any other similar worm and then use a1 /16 weighted weedless wacky jig head. No contraptions, just stab the hook through the middle of the worm. The weighted hook will get an increased fall rate that will make literally any other worm wiggle as much or more than a senko. Its the Texas rig where a senko has an unbeatable wiggle. Wacky rigging with a bit of weight and any old worm will wiggle on the fall and be orders of magnitude more durable than a senko.
  24. Normal. All my daiwas are like that.
