Not had any luck at the pond with swim baits but those Bull Gills look mighty tempting. The Baby Bull Gills are on clearance now at TW. Trying to not fall under the bait monkey’s spell again. ?

Congrats on the pig! You ought to come south more often! ? Geez! That’s some fishing trip there. My shoulders are sore after reading that. Good on you for sticking it out though.

The two handles are where the oars were. There’s 3 positions for them based on your reach. I left them for grab handles for carrying it when needed. If you have good balance (which mine is not so good these days) the deck makes for a good platform for casting as well as stretching your legs. It’s also great for when I fumble a lure by catching it instead of it going right into the water. ? The seat came with it and is surprisingly comfortable. I thought I’d have to upgrade it but it’s good to go. The canoe is off limits to me due to me taking an unexpected bath one day. Balance is a good thing to have. Until you don’t. It rarely rears it’s head but it did that day and the canoe was taken off my play toy list. ?

Not sure if this qualifies but here’s my ‘ride’. It’s a Classic Accessories Colorado Pontoon Boat. Assembled size 9’L x 5’W x 33"H (to top of seat), Weight: 71.5lbs +/- after adding the deck, 7” pedestal riser for the seat and milk crate for the rods and stuff. Oars were too heavy and cumbersome so swapped them out for a 98” kayak paddle. Not bad for pond fishing. I can even mount a trolling motor in the back with room for the battery in the rear basket.

Caught this 2-3 pounder a little while ago on a white/green bladed jig from @Siebert Outdoors again with a baby bass trailer. Forgot to bring my scale with me when I walked around the pond looking for likely spots to try so the weight is ‘guesstimated’. ? Downside was I snagged the same lure on the next cast and couldn’t free it. Tied the line off on a pine tree for later retrieval. ?

Met my wife of 47 years and I firmly believe she saved my life from spiraling into alcoholism. Both of my parents drank, my father especially. When I met her it was like a switch was thrown. We’ve had our ups and downs over the years but putting each other first has been the mainstay of our relationship. She’s my best friend and I’d do anything for her. If I had any one piece of advice I’d say what you get out of marriage is what you put into it and that goes for both of you.

My Shimano Sahara has the switch under the reel close to the rotor. It’s the FJ model not the FI which doesn’t have the anti reverse.

I’m partial to Shimano spinning reels myself. The NASCI, Miravel or Sahara are all good choices and are at or under $200. I’ve got a Sahara and it’s wicked smooth.

With the weirder than usual weather lately in the south it’s been tough locating them. It’s not been this cold this early in the season and we’re already warming back up again. The bass are probably as confused as we are.

I can toss a choppo (Berkley) and mostly get slapped, nudged or late interest right at the bank. I’ve let it sit after the cast, retrieved steadily, broken up the retrieve and it made little difference. If I could interview a few bass it would be great. ?

After putting the camper away for the time being I decided to give that new spinning reel I got the other day a try. Spooled up some 10# Spiderwire braid and tied on a Blue/Green lipless crank around 1/8th oz. Casted like a dream and the retrieve was so smooth. Just what I’ve grown to expect from Shimano. Went bust on the new rig and swapped to the Pflueger 40 and tossed a red Fogy Pro with a red craw trailer from @Siebert Outdoors and nailed the 1 1/2 pounder below. He tried swallowing it. Didn’t do any good the rest of the afternoon even though it turned cloudy.

You’re right man. It’s the whole experience of fishing that makes me happy too. I get skunked, fair enough, but I’m enjoying the day and relaxing. Icing on the cake if I get a bite ?

Hey Luke, congrats on the 3rd child! Children are a gift in this short crazy ride we call life. Of course fishing is too ?. I was in (Army) back in the early 80s but never saw the stuff you folks have over in the sandbox. My absolute best friend was a full timer that had 3 tours in ‘Nam, two as a sniper, took every course the Army had to offer and became a drill sergeant before leaving. Lost him to a car accident years ago now. We used to sit and talk (I listened) about his time in. What he described was in great detail and horrifying. We had more fun than any two adults should have before he passed and I miss him to this day. My round about point is to keep talking, keep reaching out. We care, we’ll listen and maybe swap stories(lies). ? I live in Springville just northeast of B’ham. Watch out for @AlabamaSpothunter though as he steals fish from ponds to stock his private lake. ? ?

Ordered my reel from them Monday and it arrived today as well. I’m dumbfounded on the quick shipping. From Kobe, Japan! ? Like the cartoon and other stuff too.
